Let acts honor arena name

Regarding James Brown Arena: Why do we have such an arena named for an African-American but with little or no events that draw the local African-American community? We have hockey, Winter Jam and the Augusta Futurity – not exactly great outreach to the African-American community.

Outreach is not the purpose
Unpublished

Promoters book shows that will make a profit, not serve some sort of sham social agenda. Maybe the name of the arena should be changed if calling it the James Brown Arena evokes some sort of commitment to book shows that are not financially viable.

There is nothing to prevent

those who sponsor events that draw the black community from having events at the JB Areana. I think they have had predominately black events there.

A big screen replay of the Obama Crowning?
Unpublished

Multiple jumbo trons for the entitled. Heck they earned it and by golly the ARC government should pay for it with Obama Money. And free food.

Who supports pro sporting events? Who supports college sporting events? Who supports the local arts?

Supply and Demand!

Following up on deestafford: If there is a demand, then an independent promoter can choose to create the supply. It's that simple.

I'm just sitting here wondering....

if this country will EVER stop putting people into boxes?

African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Native-Americans, Women, Men, Gays, Straights etc., etc., etc.

I know it helps to win elections, but what other purpose does it serve other than to drive wedges between people? To keep people constantly at one another's throats.

But that's the intent, isn't it?

That's a nice ladle you stir

That's a nice ladle you stir with Mr. Brown. Enlighten us how that outreach is accomplished over the River.

I wonder if Mr. Moore would

I wonder if Mr. Moore would feel the same if say "Bricko Farms Home of Kricket Krap and Compostost" signed a naming agreement with ARC for the JBA?

The opinion piece seems to be

The opinion piece seems to be suggesting that since the arena was named in honor of a black person only black acts catering to a black audience are appropriate.
That is segregation and something that civil rights activists have long fought.
