Amend Second Amendment

  • Follow Letters

The Second Amendment needs an amendment.

The Constitution is an ever-evolving document. Amendments are made according to changing times and progress. The right to bear arms to defend yourself against enemies is now obsolete. It belonged to a different era and a different social setup. We have no enemies here. They are thousands of miles away and do not have the capability to reach our shores.

And if by “enemies” you mean thieves and robbers, you don’t need military-grade automatic weapons to kill an intruder in your back yard, unless you are a poor shot with your shotgun. Likewise, you don’t need an AK-47 to shoot down ducks.

However, the sad fact of the matter is not about the right to defend yourself against enemies, but against loss of business in automatic weapons.

Lamb - Never did like shotguns. Shoot a duck and you....

gotta pick all that bird shot outa the carcass before you eat it. Shoot an intruder with birdshot and you might just make him mad...

On the other hand, I just got my detachable a SKS 7.62x39mm 20 Round Black Polymer Magazine from Tapco and I LOVE IT!! Trouble is, I'm now of the opinion that 20 rounds may not be enough. Think I'll go back now and order a couple of 30 round bad boys.

Tapco says they have plenty in stock now. And they're pretty darn cheap!

See, the beauty of the 2nd amendment is this....

If you think you have no enemies here or have no fear of a tyrranical government then you have the right to not own a firearm. You do not, however, have the right to infringe on my right to own one. I do not see the world through your rose colored glasses. Luckily for you, some of us will be around to protect the sheep from the wolves.

Sigh.

I'd really like to know of a time when banning / illegalizing ANYTHING made it go away and solved the problem??

"The right to bear arms to defend yourself against enemies is now obsolete." Go back to your land of rainbows and unicorns, Zia...you're obviously in a different world than the rest of us.

Ban This, Ban That!

I feel the only thing that really needs banning it this Hitler human King
SMNCICBHO, the Hammer & Sickle Man.

Anybody that can ignore the DC Court Of Appeals and tell it to kiss his
(insert word) and also tell the citizens of this United States of America the same thing, needs to be banned and impeached. Period.

His one cell brain has one thought...."I will do what I want, the way I want and when I want"......so you dumb idiots, Kiss...........!

There is so much wrong with this letter I don't really know where to begin or if it would enlighten the writer as to how wrong they are. I almost believe that the letter is a joke.

"His one cell brain has one thought..."

My first reflexive responsive reaction was to think, you're giving him way too much credit.

Then it dawned on me that he'd need at least one brain cell to read the teleprompter and to defer all else to Pelosi and Reid.

Living Constitution.? Show me.

So sad. Another product of our public schools. No where will you find that the Founders had any intention for the Constitution to be "living" and thus to be modified with the latest fad. The Constitution is our creed and that creed provides a continuity from 1787 to right now and beyond.

So let's follow the writer's line of logic and modify the First Amendment, too. Dear writer you are treading on very dangerous ground.

The constitution was intentionally written to be difficult to amend. Why do you think it requires a 2/3 majority, THEN 3/4 of the state legislatures must ratify it. It takes far more than an emotional event to pass that test....thank goodness......

Thank You Zia

For proving once again there are so many people who do not have a clue about our basic rights in this country.

Sarcasm

I believe Zia was being sarcastic. He has too many inconsistencies and it would be a shame for him to believe the enemy is incapable of reaching our shores. I believe his point is that this is going to put an end to sales of automatic weapons, once again hurting the economy.

Hey, I could be wrong and he could just be blind.

instigating coercion, intimidation or fraud.

Obama, Biden and their gun grabbing minions and dupes like Zia;

"It doesn't matter that you say your advocacy for gun control is "rational" and "sensible" and that your intentions are "good," you're still punishing innocents for the actions of the guilty.

In the process you're instigating coercion, intimidation or fraud.

Asking government people to do those things in your name still makes you guilty of coercion, intimidation or fraud because you're aiding and abetting it.

It becomes clear that many of you who talk about "gun violence" and "gun control" are so terrified of guns that you would rather risk being killed by one than overcome your phobia and learn how to use one in defense of yourselves and your loved ones.

Yet you call those of us who are competent, proficient and trained in the use of guns to defend ourselves from gun violence "radical gun nuts."

And then, in the process, you keep blaming the gun itself, an inanimate object."-LP

Many do not realize this push is NOT about protecting anyone. It's setting the course for something much darker. Remember the Reichstag fire !

In case you didn't notice, NO Comments were allowed on many major online sites for news stories during and right after the Fuhrer's rousing SOU speech while the government media put out its heavy dose of socialist P/R ...so it begins in earnest..LIL

Unpublished

Common sense tells us the very reason we can own guns( second amendment) is so no one will be able to control us as free Americans. As soon as no ordinary citizens own guns, we will no longer be free. Count on it. The Zia person is as nutty as squirrel turds.

The 2nd Amendment is

The 2nd Amendment is contained in the Bill of Rights....the Bill of Rights is ONLY, I repeat ONLY, intended to protect American citizens from the excesses of our government. Nothing else!!!!

I'm all for putting it to the test....

Let's see if we can get two-thirds of both houses to vote for it, then three-fourths of all fifty states to do the same.

Good luck with that!!
