GOP still 'the stupid party'

  • Follow Letters

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has proclaimed his own Republican Party to be “the stupid party.” Thanks to a large group of conspiracy-minded, science-denying people, a.k.a. the Tea Party, the GOP is attempting to purge itself of stupid candidates.

In looking at the last GOP primary, that is what it had in Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Herman Cain and the poster child for stupidity, Michele Bachmann.

How can a party with members who denies global warming, evolution and rape pregnancies turn itself around when this is what so many of its voters want?

Fox, conservative talk radio and conservative newspapers carry endorsements of the worst sort of this ilk because “they are one of us.” Their editorials, many taken from far-right conspiracy blogs, inject “stupid” into the mainstream. We have witnessed the birther/Barry Soetoro nonsense down to the idiotic “unanswered” Benghazi questions. It is the pro-life party that wants to keep its guns and ban Obamacare.

The language of “stupid” is epitomized by the phrase “socialist agenda.” Recently the words “nullification” and “secession” also have entered its vocabulary.

Good luck, Bobby.

Yup! Ol' judge Pettigrew of South Carolina had it right back in 1860 when asked if he thought it was a good idea for SC to form it's own nation. He opined that it was fact that the state was far too small for nationhood and yet way to large to be an effective lunatic assylum.

A party divided?
Unpublished

One need only look at the necessity for two separate 'official' responses to the President's State of the Union address: one by Sen. Rubio (GOP) and one by Sen. Paul (Tea Party). A united front? I'm with Gov. Jindal on this one ... how stupid.

the new breed of racist

always uses the code word "evolution" and the idea that anything less than full support for the pseudo-science behind it is due to ignorance. Charles Darwin invented racism, and his followers are the useful "low information voters" of the current nanny government movement (Darwin was a covert racist... the movement would not have succeeded otherwise). If you don't believe it, look at how the current useful "low information voter" controlled education system gives equal opportunity to black males. Darwin wasn't so covertly misogynist, as illustrated in the treatment of any independent female politician by his followers. His followers are only following his ideas to their logical conclusion.

Good Letter Michael. Unfortunately people in the deep south still believe in those same people you mentioned in your letter. I recently read where the GOP "knows" that there are people out there with conservative values and they are doing a poor job of relaying the party message and trying to revamp their efforts to bring them in. Unfortunately, what they don't understand is that America is changing - demographics and ideals are not the same. People are more open minded (except in the deep south and a few other spots) and they are not going to get their message to these people - the problem is that the republican party has to realize this new world and update their archaic beliefs. The people are not going to change so the PARTY will have to - if they want to survive.

This is stupid. The disbelief

This is stupid. The disbelief in evolution and global warming is American stupidity-not any political party. Most Americans have a problem with both. So besides the Ugly American Stupid too. The GOP is "stupid" for not using Alinsky strategies, and then buying the votes of a whole middle class and hispanics to assure a voting base for the next decade.

Ha! I guess the masterpasters

and cutters of democrat talking points haven't received any new instructions in a while. The same old Limbaugh Beck and fox news comments, without a single evidential quote.
Jindal was speaking of tactics he disagreed with, nothing else.
And "low information voter" is best used with the word "useful", popularly attributed to Lenin.
The democrat party is the new party of covert racism. The evidence demands the verdict.

Maybe, but we don't spend 90% of our time figuring out ways to get other people's stuff because we are too stupid to earn it ourselves.

Liberals

Liberals don't want to engage on the issues. They just call anyone who takes a different opinion on a subject stupid, hateful etc. This writer takes a big leap and insinuates that Bobby Jindal was referring to "a party with members who denies global warming, evolution and rape pregnancies". I can find nothing in Jindal's statement in which he referred to global warming and evolution. Let just say the writer "stretched" the truth a little by adding a few item to his list of reasons why we are stupid.

Are you attempting to make the case that democrat voters are generally more intelligent and better informed than Republican voters?

Can you provide some evidence, or is it just a feeling you have?

Low or no information voters

Low and No information voter are exclusive property of the Democratic party. Remember all the interviews with americans who could not tell you who was vice president or what Obama did that they liked but they just liked Obama. Remember the "Obama phone lady".

The DNC and GOP need significant change

To insinuate that one party is exclusive to idiocy is in itself stupid and uninformed. Both parties have a lot of growing up to do, frankly. The Democrats just can't stop spending and haven't figured out entitlement reform, all while supporting Obamas push to overturn the entire Constitution by taking away our rights of Due Process.

The Republicans can't stop blaming Democrats when our economic woes are just as much their fault. We have bases in 100 countries and 8x the military budget than our closest competitor, China, and the GOP refuses to even strip a dime from it...while calling themselves fiscally conservative; how laughable. They also can't stop themselves from dumping loads of cash on Isreal. Here is a protip: if we have to pay for our 'friends' then they aren't really sticking around for the friendship.

Both parties have a way to go before either one can rightfully point a finger at the other. That's why I am conservative but refuse to call myself Republican anymore....both parties are a joke that I want no part of the punch line. I will stick to 3rd parties until they get their act together.

I guess someone who will support EVERYTHING their party says, no matter what would think there is a problem with having 2 statements. Why am I not surprised that a democrat doesn't see the logic in this?

Who's Calling Who Stupid?

How dare a democrat call anyone else "stupid"? Check out who and what voted for their man. Sooooo many that were "below normal intelligence". They voted because of race, entitlements, and because they believed their lying leaders. No, Mr. Ledo, you need to be "sweeping around your(Democrat Party)own back door"!! You know that other saying,"you can't fix stupid"? Well, this last election proved that...............................
