Nation turned against God

  • Follow Letters

The fall of Rome has been traced to several unrelated causes – from the rise of the Vandals, to changes in the weather – but ultimately Rome lost her favor and protection from almighty God.

The root cause beneath all the troubling issues facing America today is our rejection of God and His Word, the Bible, in all areas of life – religious, political, economical, social, aesthetic, medical and scientific.

For most of American history, the old King James Bible held center stage in homes, schools, courts, businesses and churches. But with the trampling and rejection of the Bible and dissolving of the separation of church and state (with the state now over the church) two generations of American savages have been produced – all with “rights” and Social Security numbers and guns, but no God. Godless environments always produce savages, and a savage with a gun always is a bad thing.

The First Amendment and Second Amendment stand and fall together. The reason for the most recent school massacre goes back to the First Amendment more than the Second. When children no longer are taught to fear and love God with all their hearts, to keep his commandments and to love their neighbors as themselves, they will revert to barbarianism, and barbarians must be disarmed.

God called wicked King Nebuchadnezzar “my servant” when He would use him to punish Israel (Jeremiah 25:8-9). Pat yourself on the back, America. You turned against God and His defense and protection by giving up your First Amendment. Now God’s going to turn against you, using His servant, President Obama, to forcibly strip you of your last defense and protection – your Second Amendment.

Burninater- Some seem to feel

Burninater- Some seem to feel that Christianity is an ignorant religion and full of 1/2 truths and ancient fables. I am just pointing out that "modern man" full of enlightenment has been far more savage to others than Christianity could ever come close to. Yet people continue to reject. Yes we all acknowledge that Christianity has been abused by those wishing for power just as all power and those seeking for power abuse their fellow man and the truth! Take global warming. The Best study indicates that there has been no warming for over 16 years. Liberals continue to demand we give up this, we give up that, we stop using our natural resources, stop this practice stop that practice etc etc etc, all based on flawed science (see the Micheal Mann hockey stick) and flawed reasoning. Yet point this out to liberals and they call you ignorant! Yet liberal continue to lie about it! That is why the founding fathers put the second amendment into the constitution, so we can resist the power hungry and those that would abuse us. I read and interesting little blurb on face book the other day. It went "I watched a movie the other day where only the police and military had guns, it was called Shindler's list" Now either Christ was real and the son of God or He was a deluded lunatic. It is your choice to accept him and His salvation or not, but after one century of over 100 million people killed by athiests I will throw my hat in with the Christians!!

Christians are not responsible for offending the hearer. We are only responsible for preaching the truth. Many like yourself believe if christians would be nice and just accept the sin we see around us people would like us better. Christ offended most who heard His direct and truthful warnings but always presented a cure for sin. Most rejected Him and He was crucified. It is the same today, most reject the truth and don't want to be reminded of their sinfulness. They shoot the messenger. Matthew 7:13-14 says it all: “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Most are on the broad road, and few on the narrow road. Go ahead and shoot the messenger !

Doomed

Let's face the truth - our minds are too puny to understand God. We know nothing, apart from the attributes of God that we see in nature and that we feel in our heart or conscious mind.

There is no cookie-cutter formula to know God or to be intimate with God. It is an intensely personal experience. What works for me may not work for you. This whole idea that God is love, yet is fine with condemning His creation to an eternal hell to be tortured forever and ever is a bit ridiculous. Either God is loving - or He isn't.

We have such limited understanding about the universe (who can really conceive that there are trillions of stars) and such limited understanding about God's wisdom, that it is better to be silent, instead of pounding your own limited view about God down someone's throat.

It is sickening to see "religious" folks take a Bible-sharpened hatchet and literally destroy another person because they have a different way of believing. These folks would say that Gandhi, a man of peace, is burning in hell because he was not "saved" by their standards.

If anybody is going to be "doomed", it will be the religious folks who condemn and hate others so much.

specsta "what works for me

specsta "what works for me might not work for you"

Christ himself said in John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. "

I believe the way to salvation is the same for everyone. God calls, we repent, He forgives, we are His......works every time. Now the circumstances on how we get to that point may be different but we all come to Him the same way....on bended knees.

specsta "This whole idea that God is love, yet is fine with condemning His creation to an eternal hell to be tortured forever and ever is a bit ridiculous. Either God is loving - or He isn't. "

God does not condemn us to Hell. God wants all of His creation to be saved and spend eternity with Him. He loves us and will until He returns but there exist the possiblity that many won't accept His love, submit to His authority (whoa that's where most can't handle it) and won't respond to His calling. Hell is not a place that God puts us, it is a place we put ourselves.

ICL is Right

That is right ICL, It is amazing that when we talk about hell all anyone can think about is how bad God is to make that place and send someone there. Why is it amazing? Because God in his great love made that place for the devil and his demons. He sent His Son to die on a cross so that no one would have to go there. Why? Because He loves us so very much and wants us all to be in heaven with him. But it only stands to reason that if you don't love Him here and you don't want any part of His Son here on earth that you would not want heaven anyway. So there is no where else to go but hell. Listen up people and give your heart to Jesus while there is still time. Today is the day of salvation. Today if you will not harden your heart but trust in Jesus you shall be saved. Please give Him a chance.

I guess most Christians are

I guess most Christians are more concerned about selling judgment and doom and gloom. More so than they are about figuring out the best way to win people to Christ and having a cheery attitude?

My point is you're not winning people to Christ by telling them they are judged and by getting all doom and gloom. When they figure out the love of God and the loving nature of God's people is when they decide to do right. (Take a minute and let that sink in)

I understand what you are saying and praise God we do have good news to share but we can't change the message just to get people to receive Christ. We have to let them know that there is a literal hell and if they are to be spared then now is the time to come to Christ. Jesus himself spoke more about hell than heaven. If we care then we will warn people.

Who's Going To Hell?

InChristLove wrote "Hell is not a place that God puts us, it is a place we put ourselves."

None of us asked to be born. But we're here, stuck on this planet and you're saying the only way out is to either be heaven-bound or hell-bound. What a crappy set of cards we've been dealt, if that's the case.

I would rather think that God loves us so much, He has orchestrated a solution for ALL of us, not just those that believe a certain doctrine of Christianity. Why should someone who's born and then dies in the Amazon rainforest, let's say a tribesman, burn in hell, just for being born in a remote village? Why should a European have a better chance of avoiding hellfire than someone in a village in West Papua New Guinea? Where's the fairness in that?

Most Western religious folk have no idea or concept as to God's ability to bring everyone into His heavenly presence. A human being cannot comprehend God's mind. If God forgave ALL sin for ALL people through the cross, then doesn't that mean everyone?

Timothy, your blasphemy of humanity and - morality irks us rationalists. Your narcissistic, ever-wanting praise totalitarian monster ,Yahweh, would have no rights over us but instead faces the one-way street of having to have put us into a better situation as Fr. Meslier's the problem of Heaven notes.
Your Yeshua was just another cult-leader wanting to divide families, have his sheep avoid reason, whilst relying on faith and loving him, the narcissist more than others and brought a sword, not peace.

Specsta, you are correct,

Specsta, you are correct, none of us asked to be born and YOU may view it as a crappy set of cards but either your eyes are fixed on Christ (which I think is a winning hand) or they are fixed on this world.

You raise an excellent question concerning those that may pass from this world without hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Here is a link that can answer your questions and hopefully explain it far better than I and without posting a extremely lengthy comment.

http://www.keepbelieving.com/sermon/1994-04-10-What-About-Those-Who-Neve...

When we come to understand just how Holy God is and how He views sin and sinful nature, I do believe we can start to comprehend why it is important to repent, accept His Grace and Mercy, and to enter into a personal relationship with Him. You asked “Where’s the fairness in that?” It is not Almighty God who is being unfair, it is our own sinful, selfish nature, that is being unfair to God.

You keep repeating that humans cannot comprehend God’s mind. We don’t need to comprehend God’s mind. All we have to do is surrender our hearts and we can know Him. Salvation and having a personal relationship with Christ is a heart thing, not a head thing.

You said “If God forgave ALL sin for ALL people through the cross, then doesn't that mean everyone?” Yes it does, but with any gift, a person can only present the offering…..you have to be the one to receive it.

Skeptic-griggsy Yes I saw

Skeptic-griggsy Yes I saw your atheists rationalist in action. One Hundred million people killed by communist atheistic leaders for their glory. LOL. I am reminded of the scripture that Quotes Christ as saying, "we piped for you and you would not dance, we mourned for you and you would not weep" ! Mankind has not changed. We tell you God loves you so then you say he can't condemn you and you won't repent, we tell you unless you repent you will be condemned, and then we are accused of preaching gloom and doom!

A factual scientific observation

I am not discussing organized Religions.

Only Science and GOD.

Science has spend the last 100 years trying to prove GOD does not exist and has failed miserably. It seems with each new discovery they prove GOD's existence, by their own amazement of their own discovery.

Remember:
Theories are only ideas and opinions.
They are not Fact until FULLY documented and repeatable.

"Science has spend the last 100 years trying to prove GOD does not exist and has failed miserably."

Science has implicitly pushed your god into the cracks between the ever expanding facts of a galaxy full of other planets, transitional fossils, and neurobiology.

Before you bray so loudly in a public forum you need to remember that this isn't your church full of blue-haired and balding head-nodders; people in real life know the facts.

For example, most of us educated people know it's meaningless to talk about proving a negative - that's one strawman that may work in your ghetto, but it won't fly here.

Many of us are science literate, and, for example, can say for certain that there's not a single research paper they've read in 10 years of Science magazine, an honest to Buddha science journal, that says anything about trying to prove gawd doesn't exist.

The fact that science is reality based and, coincidentally, ends up shredding the religious bigotry of churchfolk (and the majority of the Republican party) is something adults know not to confuse with a war on religion. It's actually just a war on ignorance.

And, when the shoe fits...
