Obama hypocritical on guns

  • Follow Letters

I find it interesting and hypocritical that President Obama wants legislation to curb gun violence!

I believe it was the Obama administration’s Department of Justice that allowed more than 2,000 weapons to be smuggled into Mexico in violation of U.S., Mexican and international laws. Many of these weapons were dreaded assault weapons similar to those used in the Sandy Hook school shooting. The result of the smuggling: one U.S. law enforcement officer dead and more than 300 Mexican citizens killed. Many were children.

The Obama administration has stonewalled the investigation into this tragedy, even claiming executive privilege to prevent facts being discovered. Complacent media have no interest in finding out and ensuring the responsible parties are identified and properly punished for the incompetence of allowing deadly weapons to be placed in the hands of savage members of drug cartels.

I would suggest Obama and his administration learn to control federal agents and the weapons they buy and allow to be smuggled into criminal hands before Obama lectures American citizens about gun violence! My Second Amendment rights trump Obama’s executive privilege!

No one is going to take your guns

I cant believe people are so worried about someone taking their guns.
It will never happen.
The Federal Government could pass a law outlawing guns of any sort but Americans will never stand for it. Gun owners will never turn over their firearms no matter what laws are passed.
The tragedy in Conn. got a lot of people thinking about gun control but it would have about as much effect as the war on drugs.
Americans are going to have their guns just as sure as they're going to drink. Prohibition did nothing seeing as people drank more between 1919 and 1933 as any other times.
You see this a free country and the Federal Government has about as much influence on the populace as a gnat. There is no way the government can take away guns without the citizens revolting. When I say revolting I mean the citizens of this country would rise up and use their guns to protect the second ammendment.
The President cant do a damn thing about it either and I believe he knows it.
I am personally against guns but I would fight to the death to make sure the law was followed and private citizens were allowed to keep theirs. This country has some nut cases in it but I am a firm believer in the US Constitution and would protect it with my life.

Forget Guns!!!

What about the 20 F-16 Fighter Jets scheduled to be delivered to Egypt this month? What about the 200, M1A1 Tanks going to Egypt from the USA, along with a billion dollars in cash. Egypt has roughly the 4th largest squadron of Fight jets in the world, so why do we need to send them more? Egypt also has the 7th largest Tank arsenal in the world. Israel has approximately 350 Fighter Jets in its arsenal and Egypt currently has 260 fighter jets. So are they building up towards the Israeli level? Possibly for a conflict with Israel, since Morsi has already agree with Ahmadinejad that Israel should be wiped off the face of the earth. Morsi even said "Jihad is the ultimate goal and the west must fall". The WEST must FALL??? Is he talking about us? Of course he is, and we are still going to arm him.

This deal was signed in 2010 when Mubarak (US Ally) was still in office. Do we feel we must keep our word, now that a Muslim Brotherhood Radical is commanding Egypt? Is this insanity to arm our enemies?

Look at it this way; Isreal and the USA have always been allies. The USA has always had Israel's back. The mexican cartels have formed alliances with Al Qaeda for years to smuggle terrorists across the southern border. Many muslim prayer blankets and Iranian documents have been found on the border. You might as well say that the Mexican Cartels are running the entire Country, because they are. WE (The United States Government) assisted in arming the Mexican Cartels, right on OUR SOUTHERN BORDER. Why would we do this? Does this make us weaker or stronger?

Now, we are also arming Egypt who is on the SOUTHERN BORDER with Israel. We are giving Egypt massive firepower, almost to the point of catching up with Isreal. We also armed the Libyan rebels (Who are Al Qaeda) when they had their revolution against Gaddafi. We are also talking about arming the rebels in Syria (Not sure who they are yet, could very well be Al-Qaeda as well) during the revolution. Hmmmm, seems we are arming a lot of people that aren't very acceptable of Israel and the USA.

So, they are doing all this; While still debating about DISARMING American citizens. Ask yourself this question; Does all this make us stronger or weaker? When we arm our enemies and disarm our citizens, does that make us stronger or weaker? When we ban offshore drilling for American companies and yet allow foreign countries to drill off OUR shores; Does that make us stronger or weaker? When we tax 77% of our citizens at a higher rate, refuse to not only cut spending but we spend even more while already 16 trillion in debt; Does that make us stronger or weaker? This President (but not him alone) is an anti-colonialist communist. He despises America the way SHE IS, but loves the America he dreams about HER BECOMING. He desires a one world order and wants to lead that order. He is leveling the playing field by weaking the USA, and paving the way for the OWO. He will get what he wants, I believe it will happen. But then he and the rest will get what they deserve, and that is God's wrath. Communism is NOT God's way.

Yamamoto (Commanding Admiral and Fleet commander for Japan during Pearl Harbor); "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass."

This was the EXACT reason for the 2nd Amendment. We won the Revolutionary War because of the Militia. The Founding Fathers knew we would never lose our Country with a well armed citizenry. So, I ask you again; Does disarming our citizens and arming our enemies, make us stronger or weaker? Think about it......

Senator DiFi (Dianne

Senator DiFi (Dianne Feinstein) is drafting legislation to classify "assault" weapons and clip fed handguns as National Firearms Act (NFA) weapons. That means they would have to be registered, the owner fingerprinted, and a "fee" or TAX paid for each one. This includes standard pistols that many of us own today such as the Glock. All of these weapons would be put in the same category as fully automatic machine guns and sawed off shotguns.

I will not be taxed or charged a $200 "fee" per weapon in addition to filling out a ton of paperwork, being fingerprinted, and asking permission from BATF to KEEP the weapon I already paid for. That in itself is infringing my right to bear arms under the 2nd Amendment.

Shrimp for breakfast says that gun owners would not turn in their weapons and that is true, BUT if this legislation gets passed I would automatically become a felon guilty of a federal crime. And registration IS a precursor to confiscation.....always has been.

@Shrimp

I love your comment, especially the last paragraph. It's good to know there are people that might not like guns, but aren't afraid to stand up for the rights of those who want to legally possess them.

I also agree about the fact the citizens will NEVER give up their guns, including myself. I agree with dichotomy also, because if they require people to register their firearms and pay a tax, I won't comply and neither will millions of others. But, it would probably make it a felony to not comply, therefore I would go from being a Deputy Sheriff to being a felon, just because I believe in the 2nd amendment. Yet, they are going to have a serious problem with enforcement of this registration law, especially in conservative places like the South. I've spoke with many deputies and State troopers who've said that if they do this, they WILL NOT participate in enforcement of the law. They said if the government attempts to use them to confiscate citizens guns, they would give them the badge and tell them where to put it. So, enforcement of this law will be difficult, at best.

Shrimp, I've always liked your comments because they seem to use rational thought. But I must say, I believe you're being a little naive to think the federal government isn't going to TRY this. It's going to happen!! Obama is dead set on not just registering firearms but a complete ban. Biden has already told the mayor of Boston that strict gun control is coming by the end of January. Even if it doesn't happen by then, it will happen. This is Obama's last term (allegedly) so he has nothing to lose from at least attempting MAJOR restrictions on firearms. He will use people's compassion for the child victims to push this agenda, and it will come.

I know their plan, but it's apparent that they don't know Gods!!

Elections have consequences.....

....and by electing the most liberal President in history , no one NO ONE should be surprised that he and his henchmen in Congress are moving to restrict law abiding citizens access to legal firearms....

Since the election me and my wife have been buying guns and not all of them from dealers...some from friends and relatives.....these sales are not tracked by the government so we don't fear confiscation of those....

I also agree with most here who say outright confiscation and bans cannot happen in America...yet. But lets' not delude ourselves into thinking it will NEVER happen.....citizens in 1900 said the same thing about a progressive income tax didn't they?

We must remain vigilant and remind those who howl about these mass shootings that they are more an issue of mental health concerning the shooters than the type of tool they use to kill......

By the time Americans realize

By the time Americans realize exactly who Obama really is, it may be to late. Many have forgotten that that President Obama will appoint at least 2 supreme court justices in the next 4 years and this will change the balance of the court for 20 years. I predict that this new liberal supreme court will reverse the rulings on the second amendment at least to the point that gun ownership will regulated to the point that very few will have guns. With a activist supreme court for 2 decades after Obama leaves office his liberalism will live on regardless of who we elect.

Hypocrite? Consider this:

If the President's own ancestors obeyed the restrictions he and his Attorney General are seeking, the Klansmen would have terrorized them with the full support of local law enforcement.

Yes, the man is a hypocrite, who does not even know the history of civil rights in America.

It is said to to say it

and it sounds like a shirt or bumper sticker.

But if they outlawed gun ownership, I would likely become a secret felon overnight.

I am willing to guess maybe 50% to 60+% of the 150 Million gun owners would also.

I wonder how many Gun dealers would still burn their FFL gun registration books, like was the plan from the 1950-70's in case of an invasion.

ATF Rules for Private Sells.

For a person to conduct a PRIVATE Sell.

DIRECT FROM THE ATF SITE:
http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/unlicensed-persons.html#gca-unlicensed-t...

Q: To whom may an unlicensed person transfer firearms under the GCA?

A person may sell a firearm to an unlicensed resident of his State, if he does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms under Federal law. ...[18 U.S.C. 922(a)(3) and (5), 922(d), 27 CFR 478.29 and 478.30]

Q: From whom may an unlicensed person acquire a firearm under the GCA?

A person may only acquire a firearm within the person’s own State, except that he or she may purchase or otherwise acquire a rifle or shotgun, in person, at a licensee’s premises in any State, provided the sale complies with State laws applicable in the State of sale and the State where the purchaser resides. ...
[18 U.S.C. 922(a)(3) and (5), 922(b)(3), 27 CFR 478.29 and 478.30]

Q: What record keeping procedures should be followed when two private individuals want to engage in a firearms transaction?

When a transaction takes place between private (unlicensed) persons who reside in the same State, the Gun Control Act (GCA) does not require any record keeping. A private person may sell a firearm to another private individual in his or her State of residence and, similarly, a private individual may buy a firearm from another private person who resides in the same State. It is not necessary under Federal law for a Federal firearms licensee (FFL) to assist in the sale or transfer when the buyer and seller are “same-State” residents. See 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(g) and (n).

However, as stated above, there are no required records to be completed by either party for a PRIVATE SALE transfer.
