Don't blame this on guns

  • Follow Letters

Well, those guns sure have messed up Connecticut. Couldn’t have been removing God from the classrooms. Couldn’t possibly be the entitled generation. The moral compass is gone that has guided this country. Atheism and homosexuality have taken the lead. Liberals should call one another on their Obama phones and rejoice – they have everything they wanted. God help us all.

Silly letter

Blaming social behaviors for causing such horrors... what era are you from? I'm guessing you were born around the 12th century. There's no evidence that the Newtown shooter was a homosexual, nor is there evidence he was an atheist. There's not a link between him and the President, nor is it likely he was whacked-out on Halo or Call of Duty. Perhaps he watched too much TV, or ate too many Chicken McNuggets. BTW, he didn't buy those Fried chicken treats with a WIC card. Family income was too high.

He did have several guns, and was likely led into that fascination by his late, lamented mom, despite his obvious mental problems. But we can't blame guns, now, can we? Innocent and harmless as kittens, they are.

Recognizing your medieval mindset, let's agree to blame witchcraft and demonic possession. That lets EVERYBODY off the hook.

Except, except... Except for mom & dad. This forum user holds them squarely accountable. Mom paid dearly, now, dad needs to take the rap.

Do you think that they were possessed by demons as well?

swcohen, I agree with you on

swcohen, I agree with you on this one regarding the parental responsibility. It seems that they knew their child had a mental disability and guns should have never been available to their son. The mother may not have wanted to place her son where he could get some help because of the precieved "mental stigma" attatched to someone in a hospital.

Agreed Don't Blame the guns

Weapons are just a tool. These aer the same as a Knife, Car, or any other device that has killed many people. The real problem is the person using that Tool. If gun control in the UK works so well why do the Bobbies wear Body Armor? Patrick Henry says this “Are we at last brought to such an humiliating and debasing degradation that we cannot be trusted with arms for our own defense? Where is the difference between having our arms under our own possession and under our own direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?”. Who would you trust more with your money Big Goverment or yourself?

Blaming inanimate objects is foolish

Blaming an inanimate object for the bad behavior of a human being shows a real lack of the ability to reason. In my opinion, there is a greatly deminished enforcement of the social mores held by the majority. Unfortunately, we now exposed to a substantial number of people who do not share the norms of most civilized society. This continued slide has been apparent to many for over 50 years. The unwillingness of these people to accept for themselves and to demand of others real personal responsibility is the core of our issue.

Someone failed that kid as both a parent and an educator.

You, however, need to go back and see what the Bible says about lying and gossip, because you're encroaching on both by your unhelpful talk of "Obama phones."

Scwohen. Brilliant response

Scwohen. Brilliant response to letter writer. Tactic of the left name calling. Brilliant simply brilliant. Perhaps you should address what the letter writer was trying to say. It's the liberal influence that created a lax environment to deal with criminals and the mentally ill. The removing of God and the moral laws have created a society where everything but Christianity and its teaching, is accepted. Obumler phones is in reference to how the govt is totally taking responsibilities from a segment of our society thru dependence on the govt. the entitlement class seems to know no boundaries in demanding more and this feeds power seeking politican. Gun are not the responsible for murders no more than a club was ions ago. Yesterday you accused me in a degrading way of wanting the 50's back ., it would be nice to have a more civil society influenced by the church and not the liberals. And I am not taking segregation!

preceived oppresstion

liberalization of the mores in society is a good thing for most of us, not a bad, against the Almighty movement. I am always amazed at how 'effective' church and political propaganda is at creating fear among its followers, when in FACT it is generally all in their heads. The boogy man, how ever one sees him, is an illusion to either bond the group, or excuse one's own part in the dilemma.

I think shootings like this

I think shootings like this just prove there is no such thing as a god. Certainly not someone worth worshipping if this all powerful, all knowing being couldn't save these children.

Is it because public schools do not mandate prayer (because anyone can pray anywhere they want privately), and so your jealous lord allowed these children to be murdered to show what happens?

Such nonsense this letter is. This letter writer tried to blame everyone under the sun but seemed to miss the personal responsibility. Just trying to push your agenda, not allowing a tragedy to go to waste! It's the same pathetic tactics the people who want to take our firearms away are doing. Just baseless opinions and lies so mold their own idea of society.

Obama phones?

Are you referring to the phone program that was approved under Clinton, were first given out in 2008 under Bush before Obama took office? I'm just asking as no one I know has one of these phones. Wish I had known before I bought a prepaid for my disabled sister__Well, I guess there are not as many "takers" out there as some would have us believe.

swcohen @ 6:49am

swcohen, are you kidding? You really do not think some social behaviour of this day and time does not help to contribute to these murders? Please tell me you had a momentary lapse of good sense. This culture of ours has made a hundred and eighty degree turn from where it once was. What used to be in bad taste or just out and out wrong, now we have gotten so soft in our thinking "what was" is not so bad! That's liberal and progressive thinking, it is not 'right or wrong" anymore, now it's "not so bad after all" or " "I can do what I want"!! You really need to read the History of the Frankfurt School, and the article on it by Dr. Gerald Atkinson. Our Rants and Raves suggested it several weeks ago, and it was soooo interesting...and soooo true!

Truth matters...The program

Truth matters...The program that was created by Bush for the needy for emergency care ONLY but has now grown by leaps and bounds under Obama. Haven't you seen the signs posted around the community. I hear that if you get food stamps you are eligible for a "free Obama phone"..one woman said she only only qualified for $10.00 a month in stamps but the phone more than makes up for it.

I wonder about the legality .....
We might all be eligible..

Free phones

Hey, I knew Obama would be at fault!
I wouldn't know as I am not looking for a freebie (sic). and am gainfully employed. My reality is not an anomaly__the majority of people are hard working. Ride along Washington Rd and observe hotel maids/restaurant workers getting off the bus in rain, sunshine and cold. Just can't wrap my hands around this obsession that people are getting over.

There might be some projecting going on here. Some always think others are doing what they are doing or would do!
