The coming revolution might not be the one you expected

  • Follow Letters

Thomas Jefferson wrote this in a letter to William Stephens Smith in 1787:

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”

I don’t know what so-called “revolution” Joaquin Godoy is referring to in his letter (“The revolution has arrived,” Nov. 15). Surely it can’t be the election where a clueless majority re-elected Marxist Barack Obama. Before you get mad about me calling him a Marxist, read the Constitution and Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto, and decide for yourself.

There may be a revolution yet – not Mr. Godoy’s kind, but the kind Thomas Jefferson had in mind.

Red wine vinegar II

More mouth-puckering sour grapes.

I suppose from your vantage point, everybody to the left of Attila the Hun is a Marxist. Obama isn't, Democats aren't, and I most certainly am not.

However, in consideration of your mood, you may call us what you will if it makes you feel better. My guys won, I feel great about that.

If you think “From each

If you think “From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs” is what America should emulate...you just might be a Marxist patriot.

“All I know is that I am not a Marxist.”
― Karl Marx

Yes, sadly, your guys won! RIP USA.

The "Revolution" might just

The "Revolution" might just be the same kind as that wonderful "Grass roots" revolution in Egypt in 2011 that Obama said we should support and "Stand with".

Revolution is only wise when you know what the next level will bring. Take Libya and Egypt for the perfect examples. We supported both the "Revolutions" and now Egypt has a self proclaimed "New Pharaoh" in Morsi, who just gave himself sweeping new powers, supported by the Muslim Brotherhood and they are calling from complete Shariah as the law of the land. Well, what happened to Egypt being a grass roots democratic movement? Say goodbye to women's rights in Egypt folks. Where is Code Pink now? They went to Egypt to support the revolution in 2011, along with numerous other left wing organizations. Where are their voices now? I can tell you, their voices are silent, very silent.

What about Libya? Every foreign expert says Al Qaeda is now running this Country. Wow, thanks President Obama for using OUR missiles to help this movement to remove Momar Kadafi, that evil dictator. But now those that attacked us on 9/11 are in charge of the Country.

This is what happens when we blindly support a "Revolution" without knowing what is going to take it's place. You MUST always ask the question; "What is going to replace the current system?" before we support it. But does this administration do that?

But then Obama says Israel should go back to the pre-67 borders, which would render Israel competely unable to defend their borders. Israel's enemies would then be able to reach Jerusalem with short range missiles. Wow, this man is either Israel's enemy or completely inept. He has proven this with his own decisions on who he supports and who he doesn't. Just because someone SAYS they support a Country, doesn't mean they do. Actions definately speak louder than words.

Is demagogery...

... a conservative value?

I say "beans!"

Why should I take political advice from folks (otherwise good people, fellow citizens) who probably voted for George W. Bush... twice? You've got nothing to tell me.

Trust

What has Obama, done to gain the trust of 48% of America?

An important fact to remember.

It is not how many are involved, it how long the few press for control.

Look no further than the 2,500+/- Taliban in Afghanistan in 1990.

or

Fidel Castro take over of Cuba, population 7,133,582 in 1960, with less than 1,200 men and did it in 4 years.

When Peaceful people stand aside, evil will always march through unheeded.

Is irrational hysteria...

... also a conservative value?

Do you so despise this country that you're eager to overthrow its government and "take it back?"

Seriously, we have two political factions in our country who both court the votes of a mostly center-right population. There is no left, it's just that some folks' political sensibilities drift more toward the center. There is no far right, just folks whose values are more traditional. We look like extremists to each other, but I assure you, it's an optical illusion. Nobody wants to destroy the nation, nobody in any elected office will.

And the most recent presidential election? A big-budget football game, whose two teams played between the forty yard lines. Seriously, I've seen high school games that induced more nail biting.

So, uh, relax. Save your ammunition and canned goods for the coming climate disaster... :^)

I hate to tell you, but demagoguery(note spelling) is a democrat "value"........just look at all the guy said and did that you voted for............one thing sw, we do have much we would love to tell you, but, we already know you don't want to hear it(would be like pee-peeing in the wind, wouldn't you say?)

What a joke

Racism is not Patriotism. I don't care how you try to describe it. You guys spent 2 1/2 years saying the President wasn't even born here and when you all worked yourself up into Hysteria he went ahead an produced the document and your still foaming at the mouths like a rabid dog. I would think that a President who wants ALL Americans to have healthcare and end the illegal war in Iraq would be a good guy to run the country. I would think the President that got rid of OSAMA BIN LADEN who you so called Patriots hated would be a good thing for the country. I would think a President with enough foresight to save the Auto Industry would be a good choice for the country. But hey I guess starting two wars and watching WallStreet run wild and shouting Jesus makes you a true American. Get the hate out your heart so you can see clear.

And being needlessly pedantic...

... on these forums, where spelling and grammar are more art than science, is this too a conservative value?

"Senator McCarthy, Senator Joseph McCarthy... paging Senator McCarthy..."

The Honorable Senator from Wisconsin saw commies under every rock and behind every tree, and made life difficult for decent, patriotic immigrants like my parents. And these days, his cultural descendants want to resume the same fight.

The only mistake I've made has been entering into a reasonable debate with folks who have no use for reason. It is fun though, and it's been too chilly to go out and play.

Just because he won....

....doesn't make him, or his skewed vision for this country correct...
Remember, there have many despots who were elected to office....He's just another in a long line of such...
Me? I don't fear the coming revolution as I was fully prepared for this disaster of a president to be elected because of the ignorance of the masses....remember we are dealing with an electorate who knows more about "Honey-Boo-Boo" than they do about our representative republic....
Garbage in -garbage out...

And to those who think "Our Dear Ruler" is the savior of this country...
....keep fiddling while Rome burns...

Today is

crazy Lib day. Parade downtown, everyone off work, the whole nine yards. They willl be chanting slogans such as "We Won, We Won" and "Forward America" while they worship the constitution ignoring President who will continue to "fundamentally change America" up to and including the balance of power between Legislative, Judicial and the Executive branches.

Yep ya'll won. Congratulations. I am reminded of the book Lord of The Flies and how the majority ruled. Wouldn't want to be Piggy!

But make no mistake, those One Percenters are putting together escape plans, hiding assets and making preparation to be across the pond or on an island when the feces finally hit the oscillator. The remaining 48 percent who don't have the means for such elaborate plans are looking at ways for self preservation and personal defense. The philosophy is they would rather be wrong in their assumptions and "Irrational Hysteria" than surprised when the March on Wall Street types determine it's the guy with the paid for home and food that needs to be FAIR.

And on this rare occasion, I will disagree with George's title "The No Shot Fired Revolution". There are enough patriots who understand what made this country great to, at the least, not let the country go without a fight and, at most, save their freedom and liberty.

So rest assured we will not go quietly into that night. We will not march into the mass showers. We will not surrender our arms. We are not the meek and helpless. We are the masses who tote the water, pull the wagon and get it done. We are not to be trifled with.

And that's all I got to say about that!

Agree with Rebel and CG....

.....I wonder what these "redistributive" types will do when it takes a wheelbarrow full of hundred dollar bills just to buy a loaf of bread....

...THAT'S the coming revolution....

ME?.. I have my "escape plan" in place. And before you libs start to get a "tingle up your leg" thinking that I'm leaving the country?.. I hate to burst your bubble...I'm not going anywhere....
....Me, and those like me will be here LONG after the convenience stores run out of grape soda, cheetos and "40's"....
And we'll be here long after "givernment" checks stop coming in the mail...
Maybe it IS time for a "culling of the herd"....

Revolution?

Wouldn't last long. The CIC has a better trained Army to quell any so-called rebellion. Plus he has an Air Force to call in air strikes. I don't see any type of armed conflict happening in our America. Who wants to commit suicide?

Got that right, Jake.

But look for the potential "troublemakers" to be rounded up in the coming years, especially Catholics and prolifers who refuse to compromise on protecting the life of innocents. They will be very inconvenient to have around, you know, kind of like the people who tried to fight the German government for the rights and protection of German Jews after Kristallnacht.

Think You Are Wrong Jake.

If and When an armed conflict was to take place to prevent
this great nation from becoming under the total control of communist
run government, I doubt very seriously that the so called CIC trained Army would turn against and harm their Fathers, Mothers, Brothers and Sisters.

Keep in mind, and unlawful order given by any commander can be
disobeyed.

Listen to you...

"First shot is fired..." Irrational, unsubstantiated hysteria.

I'll try once more:

This is the United States of America. Big social and moral issues aside, we have a tradition of arguing over slightly different shades of beige.

We have a population whose social and political preferences straddle what would be the center-right in any other free nation on earth. There are very few Marxists, Socialists, and Communists in our midst, and they know that they haven't a snowball's chance in Hades of making any meaningful political contribution. If you think that Obamacare is Socialism, then perhaps you might want to Google "Social Democracy." Likewise, there are a few Black Shirts, Brown Shirts, and skinheads among us, but their rallies are usually self-parodies, and sensible Americans laugh at them.

Meanwhile, our overall political pendulum swings a few degrees left, a few degrees right of the Center-Right... or the "calibrated-for-America-center."

Want to know just how interchangeable the two big parties are? If there were truly substantial differences, it would be unheard of for a Democrat to switch to the GOP, or a Republican to embrace Donkey Power. Yet they do, all the time, to get elected or reelected in districts whose geographic boundaries and/or political proclivities have changed. I suspect that both parties get their Koolade from the same supermarket.

BTW - You know those "conservative values" I've been pointing out? Liberals do all of those things as well. Me? Guilty as charged. I'm what the French would refer to as "Caviar Gauche." Am I better off that I was four years ago? Oh yeah, far beyond my admittedly modest dreams... I've never had it so good.

I could have... should have... voted for Romney/Ryan. They're two decent guys, straight-shooters. I fit their demographic. I just wasn't convinced that the party that backed them has learned ANYTHING from their disasterous stint at the helm from 2001 through 2008. So, on 6 November I went into my local precinct and voted for the least-bad choice. So did everybody else who helped reelect him.

I'm certain that it would be in everybody's best interest to see if we can make our government work, whether you voted for the President or not.

Secession? Revolution? Head for the hills with guns and canned meat? I'll defend your right to talk like that, but really... you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Jake, obviously you haven't

Jake, obviously you haven't served in the military. The CIC doesn't have HIS own Army. In the case of Civil War (Which isn't going to happen), The military would be completely divided. The CIC can give the order to attack rebelling Americans but will the Generals, officers, enlisted and Marines and soldiers on the ground actually follow through on the order? Will that pilot actually follow through with bombing his own people? Maybe he feels strong with their side. The CIC doesn't have that much power in cases of Civil War. There are numerous military members on both sides of the argument so don't be so quik to believe an honest rebellion would be squashed so fast. I'm not talking about some nut job cultists, such as Waco where the military went in. We are talking about an honest rebellion. The members of the military would be divided. Let's Pray it doesn't come to this and I don't believe it will, but it will get close. I'm going by Biblical prophecy, which I'm sure irritates the left. But there has been MUCH prophecy fulfilled the last 10 or 11 years, including 9/11 and S. Husseins fall from Iraq and they just keep getting fulfilled at an amazing pace. We must be WATCHMEN!!

So, Fiat....

You're saying we can't be friends?

We'll never run half-marathons together? Go on Rocky Mountain fishing trips? Sit around in The Pizza Joint all night and solve the world's problems? All because of a minor difference in our politics?

Some of my best friends ever would argue with me over EVERYTHING, from Rep vs Dem to SAE vs Metric. One such good friend, whose words you've read in these forums, calls me "Comrade Cohen." I can't tell you my nickname for him... not without bringing on the wrath of the censors... but I can say that it's true, and it makes him wince.

Anyway, not friends, ever? Your loss. I always pick up the bar tab.
