Seriously, we have two political factions in our country who both court the votes of a mostly center-right population. There is no left, it's just that some folks' political sensibilities drift more toward the center. There is no far right, just folks whose values are more traditional. We look like extremists to each other, but I assure you, it's an optical illusion. Nobody wants to destroy the nation, nobody in any elected office will.

And the most recent presidential election? A big-budget football game, whose two teams played between the forty yard lines. Seriously, I've seen high school games that induced more nail biting.

So, uh, relax. Save your ammunition and canned goods for the coming climate disaster... :^)

The Honorable Senator from Wisconsin saw commies under every rock and behind every tree, and made life difficult for decent, patriotic immigrants like my parents. And these days, his cultural descendants want to resume the same fight.

The only mistake I've made has been entering into a reasonable debate with folks who have no use for reason. It is fun though, and it's been too chilly to go out and play.

But make no mistake, those One Percenters are putting together escape plans, hiding assets and making preparation to be across the pond or on an island when the feces finally hit the oscillator. The remaining 48 percent who don't have the means for such elaborate plans are looking at ways for self preservation and personal defense. The philosophy is they would rather be wrong in their assumptions and "Irrational Hysteria" than surprised when the March on Wall Street types determine it's the guy with the paid for home and food that needs to be FAIR.

And on this rare occasion, I will disagree with George's title "The No Shot Fired Revolution". There are enough patriots who understand what made this country great to, at the least, not let the country go without a fight and, at most, save their freedom and liberty.

So rest assured we will not go quietly into that night. We will not march into the mass showers. We will not surrender our arms. We are not the meek and helpless. We are the masses who tote the water, pull the wagon and get it done. We are not to be trifled with.

Wouldn't last long. The CIC has a better trained Army to quell any so-called rebellion. Plus he has an Air Force to call in air strikes. I don't see any type of armed conflict happening in our America. Who wants to commit suicide?

But look for the potential "troublemakers" to be rounded up in the coming years, especially Catholics and prolifers who refuse to compromise on protecting the life of innocents. They will be very inconvenient to have around, you know, kind of like the people who tried to fight the German government for the rights and protection of German Jews after Kristallnacht.

This is the United States of America. Big social and moral issues aside, we have a tradition of arguing over slightly different shades of beige.

We have a population whose social and political preferences straddle what would be the center-right in any other free nation on earth. There are very few Marxists, Socialists, and Communists in our midst, and they know that they haven't a snowball's chance in Hades of making any meaningful political contribution. If you think that Obamacare is Socialism, then perhaps you might want to Google "Social Democracy." Likewise, there are a few Black Shirts, Brown Shirts, and skinheads among us, but their rallies are usually self-parodies, and sensible Americans laugh at them.

Meanwhile, our overall political pendulum swings a few degrees left, a few degrees right of the Center-Right... or the "calibrated-for-America-center."

Want to know just how interchangeable the two big parties are? If there were truly substantial differences, it would be unheard of for a Democrat to switch to the GOP, or a Republican to embrace Donkey Power. Yet they do, all the time, to get elected or reelected in districts whose geographic boundaries and/or political proclivities have changed. I suspect that both parties get their Koolade from the same supermarket.

BTW - You know those "conservative values" I've been pointing out? Liberals do all of those things as well. Me? Guilty as charged. I'm what the French would refer to as "Caviar Gauche." Am I better off that I was four years ago? Oh yeah, far beyond my admittedly modest dreams... I've never had it so good.

I could have... should have... voted for Romney/Ryan. They're two decent guys, straight-shooters. I fit their demographic. I just wasn't convinced that the party that backed them has learned ANYTHING from their disasterous stint at the helm from 2001 through 2008. So, on 6 November I went into my local precinct and voted for the least-bad choice. So did everybody else who helped reelect him.

I'm certain that it would be in everybody's best interest to see if we can make our government work, whether you voted for the President or not.

Secession? Revolution? Head for the hills with guns and canned meat? I'll defend your right to talk like that, but really... you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Some of my best friends ever would argue with me over EVERYTHING, from Rep vs Dem to SAE vs Metric. One such good friend, whose words you've read in these forums, calls me "Comrade Cohen." I can't tell you my nickname for him... not without bringing on the wrath of the censors... but I can say that it's true, and it makes him wince.
