Join us in a Year of Faith

  • Follow Letters

The Year of Faith began this past month of October by Pope Benedict XVI to open the door to the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, to evangelize all toward a new rebirth of graces and blessings to all members of human society with the values of faithfulness; devotion; conversion from sin to virtue; and conversion from evil to holiness of life.

We Catholics worldwide ask all our brothers and sisters in Christ to profess their faith in the existence of God and His Son Jesus Christ in the power of His Holy Spirit. That renews us with peace and fidelity to the truths revealed by God to be an authentic revelation of God’s salvation and redeeming loving mercies toward all who wish to know the one true God, and be admitted kindly to His eternal kingdom in heaven.

We Catholics invite believers to join in prayer for peace and faithfulness to the commandments and Beatitudes and to the teachings of Jesus, to gain wisdom of mind, heart and spirit for our growth in holy love for one another.

We Catholics join in the effort to be holy and faithful to making all believers realize our common roots in being baptized in the death and resurrection of our God so we might inherit everlasting life. God is so good and loving toward his people.

We ask that, between now and November 2013, the faith in God will grow and increase in the good deeds God is expecting us to witness to by our confidence that God is God and we are the sheep – the flock He tends with an eternal love.

Thanks for being able to join in this Year of Faith to see the wonders of our God in the creation around us, and in the lives that are examples of unselfish charity.

The Rev. Michael Lubinsky

Augusta

(The writer is parochial vicar at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church in Augusta.)

Go ye therefore into all the world and preach the Gospel. The CORE BUSINESS of the true church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Core Business a model for success needs to be revived in the church. Keep on holding on. Defend the basic truths of God's word. The Catholic Church is leading the way in the value of human life. Without a basic God given right to life, there is no church. No good news. And as you so wisely added, the authentic revelation of God’s salvation and redeeming loving mercies toward all who wish to know the one true God. All do not want to know. All do not want a world of peace and righteousness.

But to as many as do, they have become the sons and daughters of God. God will not force anyone to live in his presence.

Martin Luther stated that there are three things, "Tres Solos", that form true Christianity. Grace, Faith and God's Written Word. Grace, God reaching down to man. Faith, man reaching up to God. The Bible, the absolute Truth.

Rev. Lubinsky is a frequent LTE contributor. His messages of faith are based on Biblical Truths. He speaks of the fundamentals of the Christian Faith. God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, the sanctity of human life and the sanctity of marriage.

Where are the messages from pastors of our large Protestant Churches? Are they involved in something else? Are their priorities diverted to material things, visa vie, building more barns? Are they concerned that they may step on t he toes of their contributors? Would they create an "intimidating atmosphere" for their congregations?

What's up with all this praying? "You people" do know that praying doesn't work, don't you? Case in point: Saturday's, August 6, 2011 Day of Fasting and Prayer For Our Nations Challenges held by Texas Governor Rick Perry in Houston, Texas' Reliant Stadium. What's happened since then? Case closed and peace out!

Good thing the Pope only commands the Swiss Guard, or we'd be off on another 30 Years (War) of Faith. Never confuse nobility with a lack of means; Ratzinger didn't play nice as John Paul II's muscle.

BTW, an initial gesture of good faith would be the Pope revoking Jimmy Savile's knightly spurs. Where is that on the schedule?

BTW, BTW, just how 'daring' is it to issue this kind of lecture from a Catholic church in the Bible Belt, at least now that the Klan is fairly suppressed? 'Daring' is an Albigensian Perfect pronouncing "goodness, truth, and beauty' amidst the Inquisition.
