The fact is, the people of Augusta and the nation told The Chronicle that it was on the wrong track big-time! They were on the track of Karl Rove, who refused to believe that the president won. About 52,000 Richmond County voters told The Chronicle it was on the wrong track. The Electoral College vote told The Chronicle it was on the wrong track. Not only did the Democrats win big nationally, Democrats won a big victory locally in winning the races for Congress, sheriff, solicitor-general, probate judge and re-election of state Rep. Earnest Smith. The Chronicle opposed many of them.
Despite all the efforts of a Republican legislature to redistrict U.S. Rep. John Barrow, including removing Savannah from the 12th District and adding more than 100,000 voters from Columbia County, Rep. Barrow had the last laugh by thoroughly defeating a flawed Republican candidate for his fifth term in Congress. The Chronicle had championed Lee Anderson – again, the wrong track.
The people of the nation have spoken for President Obama. The Richmond County Democratic Party adds its congratulations even if The Chronicle won’t.
