Put Echols on commission

I’m voting for Kenny Echols for the open District 7 seat on the Augusta Commission. He is a lifelong conservative, married 45 years, and retired so he can dedicate full-time to this important seat. He has a proven record on responsibility of our tax dollars, serving 12 years on the Richmond County Board of Education, two as president. He was instrumental in toppling a previous dictator superintendent.

Kenny retired after a long career at the Medical College of Georgia/Georgia Health Sciences University as administrator for ambulatory care and family medicine, handling multimillion-dollar budgets with the ability to cut fat when needed and always have a balanced budget without lowering the quality of service. There is no doubt we need that in the government of Augusta.

He has stood the test, felt the heat and still is willing to serve us.

Working with the whole commission is important, but holding them responsible for their actions – or, as we have seen recently, their inactions – is key. A commissioner who has declared he will not vote to raise our taxes, in a district that already pays much of the property taxes, gets my support. I encourage all of west Augusta to vote for Kenny Echols!

I was completely neutral about this race, didn't know anything abut either candidate, did my research and Echols is definitely the right choice.
