This is our foreign policy?

  • Follow Letters

Concerning the recent attacks on our embassies – particularly the Embassy in Benghazi, Libya, and the murder of our ambassador and three other Americans: Contrary to what the Obama administration first reported, it was a planned and coordinated attack.

The administration first claimed it was a spontaneous reaction to a video that presented the prophet Muhammad in a bad light! As we now know, it was nothing of the sort, but planned to coincide with the anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001.

The ambassador was very concerned about security there, and had warnings of a pending attack, but was refused any further security arrangements by the administration, and did not even have an armed security team for his personal protection. He was even denied permission to install a barbed-wire fence around the embassy! Perhaps to the liberal mind, it was considered provocative to have armed Americans parading around, and the threat to the ambassador and others did not justify taking this step.

Now we have seen the consequences! Instead they were told to hire a body guard from the local population, which he apparently did. The emergency plan in case of attack was to go to a safe house at an undisclosed location, but the local bodyguard supposedly passed this information and the whereabouts of the safe house to the very people planning the attack. We know some of this information from a CNN reporter who visited the site of the attack and found the ambassador’s diary days later. Classified documents were strewn around the area, and the site had still not been secured at the time she found the diary.

This is one heck of a way to run our foreign policy, and is just another example of the “how can we fool them today?” philosophy of this entire administration!

If congress hadn't cut $300,000,000 from the security of our embasies it might have been a different outcome.

Shrimp for Breakfast- Simply not true, the Ryan budget called for cuts, the cuts and did not specify security. Maybe if we hadn't shipped so many Chevy Volts to overseas Embassies we could have afford security Libya, see how this works?

What About Obama's security briefings?

Maybe if Obama had not missed over 60% of his security briefings he would have known what was going on-But of course he might have missed some golf and not gotten to smoose with Byonce and Letterman, one does have to have his priorities correct?

When this paper sinks this low as to print such nonsense it's really no wonder we have to have a moderator on the boards. I'm not allowed to say what I'd like to here, but here's some food for thought for those of us who have some sense of decency left:

shrimp we spend about 1.2

shrimp we spend about 1.2 trillion in deficit spending ..we cant find 300k to protect our embassy..get real..but the real question how do you cut when there is no budget to cut from???..2nd question all night they work on secutity briefing for the prez to review each morning..the briefing goes into all the hot spots and potential hot spots around the world..it is meant to be a give and take to ask questions etc during this briefing..libya security WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN OVERLOOKED in such a briefing...unfortuantly we have a prez who showed up only for 40 percent of these briefing..but carney said he was smart enough to read them so it wasnt necessary for obumler to be at every such briefing..4 dead ...how did that work for the dead with the smartest prez ever?? too important to be bothered with the details of his job when he had to fly to VEGASfor a fund raiser.

We didn't cut $300,000,000

We didn't cut $300,000,000 from embassy SECURITY. We cut $300,000,000 from the embassy budget. There are plenty of other things that can be cut besides security, but it's an easy thing for the left to point to to avoid any and all responsibility for screwing up.

Shrimp and Techfan, are you serioulsy claiming the U.S. could not afford to protect its embassy and ambassador. If there was a shred of truth to such a ludicrous statement, why did the State Dept. leave them there unprotected to be slaughtered at the whim of militant terrorists?

shrimp and facts don't mix.

I tried the other day to explain to shrimp for breakfast that THERE HAS NOT BEEN A BUDGET TO CUT ANYTHING FROM FOR 3 YEARS. Paul Ryan could not possibly have cut a NON-EXISTENT BUDGET.

The fact is that Paul Ryan proposed across the board budget cuts for all agencies in 2014 that included the State Department but did not specify cutting security. I assume that any logical person, which does not include Hillary Clinton, would cut the number of Chevy Volts and battery chargers they are shipping oversears to embassies instead of cutting security at our embassies in the middle east.

And how ridiculous is it that anyone would even mention a $300K budget cut? $300K wouldn't even pay for the Secret Service protection on one of Michelle's trips out for lobster and ice cream.

Figures

I make it a point to never open the links to these left wing web sites RA and Techfan are constantly posting in lieu of arguing their own points. Don't need the cookies and such. But, I made an exception and found out exactly what you would figure you would. I picked out the Franken bill because, being a commedian, he fits the Dim profile perfectly. The bill, which passed, was not even supported by the DOD. The Obama Adm. did not want this bill passed because of all the bad unintended consequences that result in trying to do a good thing. I suppose you could look at every bill the Republicans have blocked and find similiar results. Thank God for the Republicans!

Evidently the writer hasn't

Evidently the writer hasn't seen the latest headline. The Secretary of State has taken full responsibility. End of story for now, As an independent I feel we need to give more time for the investigation to play out, atleast until the end of Jan, Ample time is need for all the facts to play out. This is the responsibility of the Secretary of State office. We don't need a president that micro-manage every department.
As an independent, I am looking for the president to pull more voters to his side tonight after the debate. Joe inflicted a gut wound in the last debate. It is hard to survive a gut wound unless you are already in the O.R. . Have a blessed day and be sure to vote despite efforts to disregard the Constitution by our elected officia;s who are mad and confused. They are big defenders of the Constitution unless it defeats their agenda. What is the world coming to. Remember Joe shouting out disrespecting our president. Where was the outrage? Ann, Dick, and Rove will keep producing a book every week and some nuts will buy them. I guess they laugh all the way to the bank. Have a blessed day and hire someone today despite what Rush told you to do, Happy Halloween.

Retired Army – serious question

Why is it (in your mind or those from the Huffington Post) considered “politicizing” a tragedy, to point out what many believe was a serious lapse in judgment from our elected leaders? When our country suffers a tragedy, I would think that such is the time to seriously scrutinize the actions of our leaders.

I agree with you, if someone is using the opportunity to make a mountain out of a mole hill, but that doesn’t seem to be the case in this instance.

No, I think, some find “their guy/gal” in an indefensible position, and rather than admit the mistake, they attempt to redirect outrage in another direction.

I'm sure the economy will

I'm sure the economy will bounce back very quickly once Pesident Obama is reelected because he can't run again so there is no reason to try to make the economy look bad. Besides, many bussiness have lost money in their efforts to make the economy look bad. Following Rush's
directions. You got to really be mad, to be willing to lose income following the directions of some nut who is raking in his money.

Hmmmm...he's such a good

Hmmmm...he's such a good leader but can't do anything until his second term, Jack? That makes no sense. If, as you claim, it is the Republican's making the economy bad just to make sure he isn't re-elected, then why wouldn't they do the same in his second term, just to make the Democrats in general look bad? Your "logic" is foundering.

They won't do the same thing

They won't do the same thing the second term for four reasons:
1. Although they are republicans, I think they care about the country,
2. They won't be spending all their time on their #1 objective, "make President Obama a one term president"
3. The country is not going to stand for the gridlock 4 more years.
4. The speaker of the house is going to stand up to the tea party and let them know how the government works.

JACK..1-the economy will not

JACK..1-the economy will not improve ..obumler agenda will fully kick in next year if re-elected.2.grow up...its always the objective of the non-ruling party to regain power no matter who in and who is out thats life .3..grid lock 2 years of basically unfettered dim power....the house keeps passing bills and a budget but HARRY wont consider them in the senate..obumler doesnt even meet with congressional leaders both sides of aisle. so its obumler attitude that drives partisianship 4...if we dont listen to adults ie..tea party members who simply advocate living within our means we will goe belly up..whats wrong with that message...5-you must believe in obama dollars.

I never said what they did make sense. The speaker will say I went along with you all for 4 years and yet he still won re=election, now its time to play ball. Read the history book, this is not the first time the country has been sabotaged for 4 years.
