Vote Anderson? Think again

  • Follow Letters

Lee Anderson is running for Congress. In 2008, Lee asked me to be involved on his team, to be photographed for his campaign literature and to donate to his campaign. Against my better judgment, I did so, figuring a stint in the Georgia House of Representatives would affirm my doubts and fears about his fitness as a legislator.

It did. When consumer warrior Clark Howard and I bombarded the House over a bill giving Georgia Power more than $1 billion in advance profits while Georgia homeowners got double-digit rate increases, Lee voted for it and did not return my calls. We found that he listened to 70 Southern Co. lobbyists and paid more heed to his daughter’s job with the power company than he did our finances.

When tax reform came up and I had a question, he was totally ignorant about the bill and referred me to a lobbyist.

When the transportation special-purpose local option sales tax happened, we found out that Lee not only voted for the biggest tax increase in Georgia history, but it also subordinated the votes of conservatives in his Georgia House district of Lincoln and Columbia counties to the urban food stamp/SNAP recipients of inner-city Augusta who don’t have to pay sales taxes on food.

We who had supported him were dismayed when Lee took $6,000 of our unused contributions to transfer to Nathan Deal, who had run out of money fighting ethics charges as – according to Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington – one of the 15 most corrupt members of Congress for 2009. He cannot, does not and will not read legislation. Lee Anderson was a total disaster for middle-class folks.

Anderson’s handlers, misinformed media types and Republican sycophants want you to believe that Lee Anderson won’t debate Democrat John Barrow because the latter is a trained trial lawyer, for whom Lee is no match. Lee Anderson doesn’t want to debate because his whole campaign is about making you so fearful of Barack Obama’s party that you forget to find out that Lee is an incompetent legislator; a supporter of the most corrupt elements of his own party; and that he doesn’t hesitate to throw middle-class Georgians under the bus when his own interests are better served.

As one who voted for every Republican president from Nixon to Bush 43, I urge you to vote for the best conservative for your family on November. Vote for John Barrow, and send Lee Anderson back to something he knows something about – farming.

Al Gray

Just what I thought

After hearing his political ads:
Cut taxes, repeal Obamacare, balance the budget, NO MORE BAILOUTS. I cringed.
Same old garbage. Oh by the way the ad started off with "Believe in a loving God" which I believe in also but the way he sais it was totally political.
If we hadent's bailed out the automotive industry we would have lost many more jobs. Romney's platform too.
Good leter Al! You and I think alike!

Anderson

This is the best case of why not to vote only for the party, but consider the qualifications of the individual candidate. Let's hope that all voters of the 12th congressional district think long and hard about this race. I don't agree with John Barrow on many issues, but I can't just give Anderson my vote without more assurances that he is up to the job. So far, he hasn't assured me in the least.

Al is a really sharp cookie.

I've heard that Anderson's really a college boy in farmer's clothing.

Can anyone verify?

I truly believe that there

I truly believe that there are still Republicans of honesty and integrity in our nation who really do have America's interest at heart.

Thanks Al, and a couple of the posters here for reenforcing that belief.

Very good letter.

Very good letter. Complicated issues facing Congress and Anderson is totally incapable of understanding the issues. Even his own campaign knows he doesn't understand the issues and keep him hidden from voters and the media. This will be the only race in years I have voted for a Democrat but cannot vote for Anderson.

"If we hadent's bailed out

"If we hadent's bailed out the automotive industry we would have lost many more jobs. Romney's platform too."

If we hadn't bailed out the automotive industry they would have still gone through the same structured bankruptcy that they effectively went through. The difference would be that it would have been done with PRIVATE MONEY instead of taxpayer money, the UNIONS would not own half of the company, and the union contracts which caused the bankruptcy would have been renegotiated. Instead, WE footed the bill to keep paying the unions and the cause of the bankruptcy is still there and they will fail again on the next little economic burp. Sorry shrimp for breakfast but Mitt is absolutely right on that one.

As for Anderson vs. Barrow.......I'm not happy with Anderson or his record in the state legislature. I am also not happy with two faced Barrow and his Pelosi string puller. He is an Obama Democrat and never met a spending program he didn't like. I am absolutley furious with the Republicans who crossed party lines to blow their vote in the sheriff's race and caused Anderson to win the nomination. Both candidates kind of leave a sick feeling in my stomach and I will probably just leave this one blank because I would vomit if I voted for either one.

Anderson wins, taxpayers lose!!!

Spoke recently with a life long acquaintance of Lee Anderson. A man who had even gone to church with Lee Anderson. He looked down as he said that he could not support Lee Anderson because he was DUMB. Barrow may be a Democrat, but Anderson is incompetent to represent anyone. He stated hat the citizens had be duped by the election system that caused Republicans to vote a Demogog Ballot in order to elect a competent sheriff. Lee Anderson would have never been in this race had it not been for cross party voting.

Lee's down home drawl may fool the "rural background and entitlement folks", but his friends know him best. A well payed puppet. E pluribus unum.

and not a "southern drawl". We do not need another "seat holder" like Isaakson and Chambliss. We are holding them Southern Republican seats y'all.

And we still say he looks like an old Alan Jackson. Sorry for the analogy AJ )-: Way down yonder on the Euchee Euchee, we got a "tiican" whose a lobbyist huchie.

Lee, What Would Jesus Do in the 12th District?
Unpublished

You use His name to somehow evoke His acceptance of your political campaign. You are somehow more qualified because of your faith when that is not a criteria for political office? You love Jesus, so you must be the right man?

He would not be a politician because He cannot lie.
He would not use His father's name in vain.
He would not tax the poor.
He would not tax the sick.
He would not kill innocent babies.
He would view distilled alcohol as recreational activity.
He would not hate the rich.
He would not wage war to accumulate wealth.
He would not make deals with greedy people.
He would not sell His soul for worldly success.
He would use His voice and charisma to win souls.
He would meet with sinners, but not sin.
He would point men/women to a Godly life as the answer.
He would definitely not see government as the answer to any good.
He would pray for those in authority, but not play their games.

Great article Al!

Glad to see highlights being brought to Anderson. As a conservative, I despise a big-government Republican and that is exactly what Anderson is. Barrow is much more fit for the job, and actually votes with Republicans much of the time.

So sick of people voting on party lines and not for the candidate. There has been a blast of dual "Romney/Anderson" signs around Martinez and it just blows me away that these people are simply going with Anderson because he put an (R) beside his name, completely avoiding the small task of actually finding out what he represents.

Please District 12, vote for the candidate, not the political affiliation. We already dodged a bullet by getting redrawn out of Paul Brouns district, don't put us into another position of sitting with a bad representative.

Wonder if Lee will go in two

Wonder if Lee will go in two hours early to get an aisle seat - another Cynthia McKinney - we'll be embarrassed again but at least he's a republican.

We are, thankfully, a free country and I will vote for a Republican in Congress.
There is no way Anderson can be worse than having another Liberal voice representing us in Congress.

Blank

Dichotomy has the correct idea. Remember you do not have to vote in every race. If ever there was a race to vote "none of the above," this is it. I plan to leave the 12th district race blank.

Boooo! Lee Anderson

Knowing that he supported the one cent sales tax is all I need to know about Lee Anderson. Nor will I be voting for Deal when he comes up. Can you imagine Anderson getting a prominent role on a committee in the House??? He would be a laughing stock. He was clearly not the best choice in the primary, now we have to live with that absurd result. He is going to lose anyway. His own county did not vote for him and these are most the folks that got added to the district. He's toast!! Barrow will remain the last white democrat in the deep south. Hopefully he will be a very very blue dog.

I believe Al Gray.

Every time I read something like this about Lee Anderson, I have an overwhelming desire to bang Wright McLeod & Rick Allen's heads together. And the next time I see Wright, I'm going to tell him so. They both ran terrible campaigns. I have to decide what I abhor the most;
leaving it blank and or voting for either one of them. It's quite likely that Anderson doesn't have a chance anyway.

Oh No! We picked a Hee Haw

If he fears even debating a white southern Blue Dog Dem, I can't imagine how he'll survive in DC. They'll eat him for lunch and spit him out before dinner. Boehner will tell him to keep his mouth shut for two years and just vote party. The rest of the country does not care about what tractor you own...they'll be asking about your how strong your record on taxes is.

Let the dead bury the dead

But I am never going to stop teaching people the true meaning of freedom for it is truly the ONLY answer to these problems that are ailing us.

Freedom means freedom FROM government and the essence of that freedom is the LIMITATION of government not the EXCESS of it.

And this notion that democrats and republicans have the answers is hogwash.

I got 200 plus years to prove they are the very two groups that have caused all the problems we are saddled with today.

We need leaders who understand the essence of freedom not puppets to the power brokers and banks and people who only have their own interests at heart in Atlanta and Washington.

They are our servants and need to be reminded of that. A pay cut and pension cut would be a good starter and while we’re at it yank their health care out from under them, which would save us billions in revenue.

Educating the people on the deception government has sold them is the key to undoing all the things government has purposely broke.

Sadly the collectivist’s definition of freedom is government and Anderson and Barrow are collectivists of the worse kind, they’ll flat out lie to the people for a vote and their money.

But none of these issues are going to go away until we tackle the REAL heart of our problems, money created as debt and all the wars and crisis’ government creates using that money to perpetuate them.

Until that is dealt with things are only going get worse.

If we really want to end the mess and oppression created by the ruling class we are currently being ruled by we have to end the tyranny of the Collectivist and the omnipotent moral busy body.
