Show Islam's peaceful side

Have you even been in a store where a child is screaming and asking, “Mommy, I want this,” or “Mommy, I want that”? While the child is fussing and screaming, the parent either does nothing or can’t do anything. And the child continues to throw a tantrum.

I believe that the Muslim extremists in the Middle East are just like spoiled children throwing tantrums. The major difference is that Muslim extremists burn, loot and murder. The religious leaders are like the parents, and either refuse to do anything or have no control.

How is it that the image of Jesus can be portrayed (and not always in a good light); Bill Maher can demonize Christianity; and devout Christians can be called bigots and homophobes – but when Muhammad is portrayed or seemingly maligned, and Qurans allegedly mishandled, the Arab world goes crazy? Fatwas are issued, and the West (usually the United States) is attacked and demonized.

Jesus wanted his followers to turn the other cheek and love our neighbors as we love ourselves. A good many Muslims, including their religious leaders, are still living in the 12th century and seem to have deified the prophet Muhammad. You can’t insult Muhammad or his holy book.

What I have not seen is this craziness carried out by American Muslims. Maybe they have been influenced by their neighbors.

Islamic religious leaders need to join the 21st century, turn the other cheek more and truly portray Islam as the religion of peace, as so many politicians portray it. Scenes out of Egypt, Yemen, Tunisia and Afghanistan do not portray a religion of peace, but one of vengeance, mayhem and murder.

One thing I just don't

One thing I just don't understand. Muslims living in Muslim countries are so unhappy and continually protest and kill not only those of different faiths but those of their own. Muslims living in non-muslim countries such as the U.S., England, Australia, etc. seem very happy. Yet the Muslims living in countries where they are unhappy blame all their problems on the countries where Muslims are happy.

Some people who act in the name of Islam do go crazy. With over 1.2billion followers though- it's dishonest to say the religion is violent.

I think a lot of American's don't think or care about how many Muslims have died at the hands of people calling themselves Muslim too. More than Americans.... I didn't read one story from AC about how many Muslims died tried to protect our American's killed recently on 9/11 at the embassy. I think a lot of locals around here have no clue how many Muslims there are in the community, and how many go to work every day being an asset to fighting the extremists.

Whenever Christians kill other people- other Christians say "Well, they are not true believers and followers in Christ". The same should be applied to fanatics that kill in name of their religion.

And as Wayne2410 has already started out with insults and false allegations: Just remember- 'Jesus wanted his followers to turn the other cheek and love our neighbors as we love ourselves.'

Something to remember: "to love your neighbor as we love ourselves", means, to do it-if it be possible. It is very easy to love a good neighbor, but, if you have a neighbor that wants to kill you, take what you have, curse you and your GOD, there is no amount of love that will change that person, in fact you had better stay watchful. And let me tell you "turning the other cheek" does not mean to take a bunch of bull off of someone. Sorry TParty, you have good thoughts, but as I have said so many times, there are deeper meanings to words and phrases from The Good Book. Also, I guess we would be surprised as to how many local Muslims are here in the Augusta community fighting against the extremists. My hope is that some would make themselves known. I fear they may be too afraid......................

Have you noticed?

The recent protests have only happened in places suffering chronic unemployment and economic disenfranchisement, where people are all too eager to embrace any invented scapegoat upon endorsement by their imam. Have you heard of protests happening in the UAE, Turkey or any other of the wealthier and more stable Muslim countries?

I was recently in both the San Francisco Bay area and New York City, and I saw plenty of observant Muslims who seemed perfectly content to me, among other diverse people, and both areas were very peaceful and pleasant. Coming home to the relative homogeneity of Georgia, it's become all the more obvious why so many white people vote Republican here, no matter how incompetent the leadership is, or incongruous with the principles of a professed Christian faith.

Pictures worth 1000 words

If Islam in the middle east is as peaceful a religion as you say, they why were there so many protesters caught on camera? I believed that they were peaceful up to a point where the attacks on the free world outnumbered logic. Please, correct me if I am wrong!

My Simple Way

to evaluate a Muslim....If it studies and believes in the Qur'an...."You Are MY Enemy, Period."

Has anyone here read any part

Has anyone here read any part of the Qur'an? I suggest that you do, in order to make informed comments. CobaltGeorge and I happen to agree about those who study and worship from the Qur'an. Basically, they are enemies of Christians. Researching the Qur'an will bear this out as fact.

The problems with Muslims are similar to problems with some Christians. Their children are taught the Qur'an from the time they can read, so they grow up being force-fed and knowing only one Religion. Sadly, that Religion states that infidels are to be killed. So...who are the infidels....anyone who is not a Muslim.

Peaceful Muslims

Muslims in countries where they are not either a sizeable minority or the majority tend to be peaceful because they are outnumbered. In the US the Muslim population is around 2%. Look around and you will see that the higher the percentage of the population the more they push for seclusion, induction of Sharia law and revolt. It is not widespread in the US yet because of the small percentage. England is a little higher and they have more problems with the Islamic community. France even more.

Let's take a look at the Christian peaceful side....

Deuteronomy 13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; 7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; 8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: 9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. 10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

2 Chronicles 15:13 That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

Deuteronomy 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel: 5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.

Shall I continue....there can be both good and evil found in the Qu'ran, as well as the Bible.
