Don't debate John Barrow

  • Follow Letters

I encourage Republican 12th District candidate for Congress Lee Anderson not to debate U.S. Rep. John Barrow.

Barrow’s actions are well-known, and the fact that he waited until the last minute to vote against Obamacare proves that he was waiting for direction from then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. If his vote had been needed, you can bet that he would have voted for it.

Lee will vote as the majority of his conservative constituents want him to vote.

Let’s send a real conservative to congress.

I look forward to seeing him

I look forward to seeing him on C-SPAN. Let's do all we can to reinforce the image of the south as nothing but dumb rednecks. Anderson can be the poster child.

it's obvious

It's obvious why Lee Anderson is refusing to debate John Barrow. See Sylvia Cooper's column today, or better yet, read Anderson's own mangled comments. Almost every time Anderson opens his mouth, he sounds like an uneducated hick. He may be a very nice man, but he stumbles over basic grammar and seems to be pretty confused about some pretty simple government concepts. Anderson won't debate because he knows Barrow would demolish him and make him look ridiculous in the bargain. Republicans, you should be ashamed of yourselves: you offer a candidate for whom the Georgia Republican party gerrymandered a "safe" new congressional district and who thinks he can win by just showing up. Can you imagine Anderson speaking on the floor of the U.S. Congress??? He'd be a laughingstock and reinforce every embarrassing stereotype of the South.

So I have to choose between

So I have to choose between someone who will probably vote the way I'd like but is a little southern and might be a little embarrassing.....OR.....someone who takes their cues on when and how to vote from Nancy Pelosi and who always votes for liberal agenda items when he is told to do so. Someone who's only claim to fame is that he voted against Obamacare AFTER it had already passed and only AFTER Nancy Pelosi gave him permission.

Errr.....let me think.

Guess I would rather elect a countryfide conservative farmer than a lying deceitful liberal Democrat. I grew up around a lot of people who talked just like Anderson and you know what? Most of them were honest, hard working folks who may not have been eloquent speakers but they had lots of common sense and the knowledge that you cannot spend more than you make for very long before you go bankrupt. They also understand that taking MORE from a few just so you can spend it does not solve the problem.

Since I know what a flaming liberal and pandering liar Barrow is, I guess I'll take my chances with Anderson.

Your personal preferences are essentially beside the point about Anderson's refusal to debate. In fact what you say, if true, is an argument FOR him to debate. Surely if Barrow is so bad, even a grammar-challenged speaker like Anderson should be able to establish that. All he needs to do is show Barrow is a "flaming liberal" and "pandering "liar," and he'll win. I guess Anderson's handlers are afraid he's not even up to that! I've heard him--it's probably true.
