An informed vote is vital

Mitt Romney, upon winning nomination, did not drift toward the center as many had expected. Instead, he cemented his rightist views by choosing Paul Ryan as his vice-presidential nominee. Romney may try to distance himself from Ryan’s ideas, but why then did he choose him?

All the Republicans in the U.S. House agreed with Ryan’s budget proposal this year that would cut even further the taxes on the wealthiest among us, while offsetting that with huge cuts in programs that keep many from starving and losing their homes – including those disadvantaged at birth, as well as those who get very sick or, through no fault of their own, lose their jobs and their health insurance. The Ryan plan also would make it far more difficult for the middle class to send their children to college.

Since all Republican House members agreed to such a draconian proposal, they should be denied re-election.

I voted for Roosevelt in 1944, and have voted in every election since. The choice we made in 2000 turned out to be the worst in a century. Other than that one, the upcoming election may be the most important since 1932. Since the polls rank it as very close, it has to be that the electorate is not well informed as to what is at stake. Those planning to vote ought to study the Ryan plan before they do.

Romney’s misguided actions in the recent unrest in the Muslim world also suggests he learned nothing from George W. Bush’s foreign misadventures.

The poor may think things can’t get any worse, but if Romney/Ryan wins and prevails over Congress, there would be hunger and homelessness like we haven’t seen since the 1930s. His election would risk civil unrest not seen since then.

It is that vital.

The hunger and homelessness under Obama's reign of error is worse than I've seen since the 1940s. Romney seems to be the remedy: he's turned around companies and is the best-qualified candidate to help make our country conducive to new business and jobs.

It's regrettable that Mr. Reilly would follow the liberal practice of making a statement that would provoke riots. I've heard the late Ted Kennedy and the Rev. Jesse Jackson say similar things. The sooner we get a new president, the better off we'll be.

Ryans Spending Cuts.

What I find interesting is that people do not see the whole picture of Ryans spending cuts. Only what they are told by the Mass media. His approved plan by republicans would save the giverment 2.5 Trillian Dollars. That is with out even touching Welfare or the Military. Read the list and see if there are any programs that we truely need or that could not be slashed.

On the other hand...

If Obama is given a second chance and things continue the way they have been going, this country will go bankrupt and there won't be any money for anything. Our retirement check, which we've worked for all our lives, won't be worth the gas it costs to go to the bank and cash.

Ryan's plans will be painful. There's no doubt. But serious changes have to be made in order to get this rampid spending under control. This country is bleeding to death! Would you rather open a few more wounds with Obama, or start stiching them with Romney/Ryan?

I've been a democrat all my life, but what I've seen from this current administration scares the crap out of me! I'm no longer a Democrat or Republican, because this is no "party" we're attending. I'm voting for what's best for this country's survival.

righteousness causes extreme reaction

remember well how so many white southern males thought keeping blacks in the back of the bus was the 'righteous' thing to do. What did they get in the end... an out of control 'give us our rights' that has spent trillions of dollars on programs that have driven us to where we are today with the 'dependent' class. So now we have fiscal 'righteousness' that will not compromise with those who want to also increase revenue by going back to Clinton era tax rates. and what will be the result of the non-compromising righteous, an extreme bend towards keeping the 'dependent', dependent and the fiscal crash of our economic system... wanting your cake and eating it too is a philosophy rife with 'over reaction' when your cake gets taken away.

"His election would risk

"His election would risk civil unrest not seen since then."

Victor......remember Greece and the civil unrest. That is what happens when a nation has too much debt and, in our case, when the currency is devalued by printing worthless money. If civil unrest is your fear then you should take a look at the $16 trillion dollar debt clock, Democrat spending policies, and the additional debt from Obamacare coming at us like a freight train.

Romney/Ryan are the ONLY prayer this country has of avoiding a debt disaster like Greece. Obama is totally unconcious when it comes to economic policy and energy policy. $4 a gallon gas, 25% inflation for groceries, 25% increase in healthcare insurance premiums, 60% increase in the national debt. Yeh, Obama is a real champion of the middle class ain't he. His policies ONLY HURT the middle class. He is a disaster for the middle class in this country because THEY are paying for his socialism, anti-energy, and anti-businees policies. Check you wallets WORKING MIDDLE CLASS. You are NOT BETTER OFF after 4 years of Obama and it will get MUCH WORSE if Obama is re-elected.

Victor refers to "Romney's misguided action in the recent unrest in the Muslim world", which is a matter of opinion. I personally think Romney was correct. But Victor conveniently skips the fact the Obama's mideast policy of pandering and apology and his support for the Muslim Brotherhood is what caused the killing of our ambassador and 3 other embassy staff members.

Obama is an economic disaster, a domestic energy policy disaster, and a foreign policy disaster.

Victor badmouths Ryan's budget. He doesn't bother to mention that Ryan's budget would cut $2.5 trillion dollars off of the debt. Victor also fails to mention that the Democrats have not had a budget for 3 years and that EVEN ALL OF THE DEMOCRATS VOTED AGAINST OBAMA'S PROPOSED BUDGETS BECAUSE THEY WERE SO BAD AND SO FULL OF CRAZY SPENDING.

Victor want's to scare you into thinking things would be worse under Romney/Ryan but he states NO FACTS that would back that up. After seeing 4 years of Obama you don't have to look far to know who the real disaster is.

Victor is right about one thing. There is a real possibility of civil unrest in this country.....IF we don't cut spending and restore or credit rating. Only Romney/Ryan have a plan to do that. If Obama gets re-elected and drives us over the fiscal cliff, the civil unrest in this country will make the riots in Greece look like Disneyland.

So is he saying we should

So is he saying we should support Obama who has driven this economy to exactly what he describes will happen under Romney and Ryan. The median income is less for all Americans, women and african-americans are suffering worse in jobless rate, America has lost and may lose another AAA credit which will be disastrous, poverty has increase since Obama has been president, a huge "tax" will be levied against the middle class and anyone if they don't have health insurance, health care cost are skyrocketing and Obamacare is aggravating the lack of physicians, we have a president who has a hit list of political opponents to politically destroy, and a hit list of actual people he wants dead-including american citizens, we still are at war in Afghanistan, Obama' penchant for more spending increasing our debt and demonstrating no ability for financial restraint or any plan to lower our debt (like he promised he would have already done his first term), Obama penchant to divide and conguer, him breaking federal laws in collusion with the media for propaganda, his Attorney General who should resign, our foreign affairs clout all but destroyed by the bungler-in-chief, his incompetent administration who puts out statements (DOJ, etc.) and stand by them but then suddenly change and simply say it was a mistake (we can't afford mistakes or a lack of organization or leadership), but obviously progressives see a silver lining in that black cloud. Must be some potent Kool-Aid.

Well I like the Rep at least

Well I like the Rep at least admit they screwed up under Bush with too much spending and are trying to do the right thing (as any business would do) to prevent financial collapse. The Dems just stick their heads in the sand and act like they can spend their way to solvency and don't even bother in the Senate do their jobs as federally mandated. Pathetic. You can't tell me you really believe the Dems will address a fiscally responsible budget or address the debt. They continue to spend, spend, spend-tax, tax, tax-spend, spend, spend, tax, tax, tax. There is no end to their greed.

spirit of slavery continues

Obama wants to keep people dependent on government just as the slave owner did the slave. The slave owner said "I will feed you a little and give you some kind of a house but don't think you can make it without me."

There is no freedom when you depend on government for all you have. Why would anyone think a leader who says killing unborn babies is a good thing would ever care for anyone. If killing unborn babies and disgusting sexual life styles are good what would he ever think is wrong. We curse ourselves when we vote for those who believe such things as we enable those actions to continue. Why not bless yourself and vote for life and see your life change. Would your God vote pro-death or pro-life. We all are either helping God or satan with our vote whether we admit it or not. The Word says to choose who you will serve. Vote for life and see your life change. If your life is not what you want it to be remember the Word says "the curse without a cause does not come". There is a reason for where we all are today and this may be your chance to change part of that reason.

Well we need a change from

Well we need a change from Bizarro Obama as prez., because he does everything the opposite. Rather than do the only job he has-to execute laws-he prefers the opposite and hinder the execution of the law (the only thing he executes are american citizens). Mitt wants to cut taxes for everyone, Obama rants tax the rich, but doesn't elaborate on step two which will be to raise taxes on everyone else to fund his uber government and more spending (just logic). His ambition is to punish the rich, punish America for it's wrongs of the past and to change it to a third world economy, reduce or eliminate our defense because he thinks he is in StarTrek, punish religions because he believes in a secular society without the ignorance of religions, punish America for freedoms and a constitution so he can be ruler of a socialist utopian society. Good Grief.

Obama, when asked by

Obama, when asked by Letterman about the national debt, said he didn't know the amount of the debt but it was of no immediate concern. He said that Clinton left with a surplus. Now, any idiot knows that the budget and debt are two entirely different matters and that Clinton left a projected BUDGET surplus, not national debt (which was already in the trillions).
I recall getting a $250.00 check that Bush? sent out because he said "give it (the projected surplus) back to the people, it is the peoples money."

That was just before 9/11 which happened when Bush had been in office for 7 months....

Anyhow..the non-answers given by Obama should make us all pause and wonder "what the heck".

Good point. He knows nothing

Good point. He knows nothing of the economy nor does he know who are our allies and who are our enemies. I can't believe such incompetence has gone unchecked. I can say with absolute impunity if he had a Rep in front of his name there would be a list of topics for his impeachment:murdering a US citizen, war crimes, hatred of the rule of law and failing to execute the laws of the US, etc. The hypocrisy of this is beyond measure and our news outlets are now like Pravda.

Oath of office

What I don't understand is why Obama hasn't been impeached already for violation of Oath of Office. "...to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, forign and domestic...". What he says and what he does are always two different things. You just can't trust the man. His actions have shown us numerous times that he distains the Constitution, and even tries to tear the very fabric that this country stands for. These are facts. He, if anyone, should (at the very least) be denied re-election based on his negative and destructive actions. Protect and defend against enemies? With friends like him, who needs enemies!

Mr Reilly, you are also making accusations against Romney/Ryan and they aren't even in office yet. I can tell you from personal experience, that in 2009 (1 year into Obama) I got laid off after 22 years of service, for an entire year, and through no fault of my own. No one was there to help me. I would have lost my home if I hadn't had cashed in my 401K plan, and now I have no retirement account. Furthermore, I lost my health insurance when Cobra dropped me over a $25 so-called discrepancy I knew nothing about. There was no negotiating with them. The cost of my basic medications without insurance made it impossible for me to continue taking them! These are facts under Obama. If he is re-elected, you'll experience much worse than the Great Depression, because he's only getting started with his secret agenda.

2011 Tax returns of Mitt

2011 Tax returns of Mitt Romney show that he paid $1.9 million dollars in taxes..this is the man that Democrats accuse of paying NO TAXES...
That in itself is enough to make one throw-up.

You know you're old when you

You know you're old when you remember when everyone would complain about any politician hint at raisin' taxes-no matter the political affiliation. Anyone hint at raisin' taxes and it was a sure blood letting -remember their rhetoric "I will not raise taxes". Now progressives have been brainwashed into "it's patriotic to pay taxes" and everyone should pay more taxes, but especially the wealthy. Like mindless zombies relinquishing all to big government-all my nieces and nephews spew this doodee. We should all be united-not divided-that we all pay too many and too much to govt-which has a terrible record of fiscal responsibility and success (no wonder we are in debt). Any freshman business major could do better. Sadly many have been duped into a belief govt is the solution not the problem-which had been a uniting factor historically because all people distrusted politicians-and with good reason. Willingly giving govt all the advantages and favor is no way to go and it is up to us to keep them honest and functioning. Besides the balance of power between three branches we too are a part of the balance of power. Why are we tolerating a Senate that refuses to do its constitutional duties and even have many committees? Sadly many are being offered a carrot all the while govt will just dig deeper in their pockets, consume their lives, and consume freedom. All this reproductive freedom strawman epitomizes this as it really denigrates women-like they will think with their womb rather than their heads. It's the economy stupid. The govt is basically taking over women's reproductive freedom for future needs of regulating the number of children, etc. much like China to deal with population issues. Really think about the logic and practicality because we will have to regulate reproduction and the govt has a foothold to inact future needs. The wealthy and middle class pay too much in taxes-we need to let the Bush tax cuts stay in place for all till the economy recovers for us, and then the govt needs to cut budget and programs in some logical and practical manner. Now the plan is we will serve the needs of the govt. The govt seems incapable of restraint and it just grows like the "Blob". Remember the Blob ate everybody-well till they froze it. So we need to demand the "freeze" the growth and size of govt.

Not gonna comment...

....on the content of Mr. Reilly's letter as I don't waste time reading them....But I will comment on the title of the LTE...

An informed vote IS vital to the proper stewardship of our representative republic....
As long as we have more citizens who know who "Snookie" is, than can name their Senator, or can even explain the difference between a democracy and a representative republic, we'll get the elected officials we deserve. Witness the last four years......

Found some data on percent of

Found some data on percent of income in all taxes (federal ,state, payroll) by income. Most Americans pay 25-30% of their income in taxes-just the distribution of which is more varies. Those in the lowest pay 17-20% of their income in taxes. Of the 47%, 18% are seniors who have already pain into the sytem, the rest pay their 25-30% of their income to this outsource. There is no divide but that created by govt to divide us and conquer us. Besides Mitt, Thomas Jefferson had a similar attitude towards govt. From the Federalist Papers and letter "I think myself that we have more machinery of government than is necessary, too many parasites living on the labor of the industrious. I believe it might be much simplified to the relief of those who maintain it." Guess Mitt isn't very novel.
