Assistant DA is exemplary

On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to congratulate Augusta Judicial Circuit Assistant District Attorney Randy Sheppard on the announcement of his retirement at the end of this year, and thank him for his 30 years of service to the people of Burke, Columbia and Richmond counties.

Mr. Sheppard, who will be entering private law practice in January, provided exemplary service while working under three district attorneys – Sam Sibley, Danny Craig and Ashley Wright – in the Augusta Circuit over the years. As reported in The Augusta Chronicle, his appellate work on more than 500 cases includes Gibbons v. State, which overturned 100 years of precedent in Georgia on the admissibility of a witness’s prior inconsistent statements.

All Georgia lawyers can be inspired by Mr. Sheppard’s dedication to public service and longtime efforts to promote the cause of justice, uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of all citizens. We wish him well in the years ahead.

Robin Frazer Clark
