Obama's folly is evident

  • Follow Letters

With the election looming in our headlights in less than two months, it’s incredible to me that so many of us still cleave to President Obama as the presumed redeemer who will finally rescue our flagging economy from its doldrums and recreate millions of badly-needed jobs, even when it is painfully clear that his policies have failed to do so in four years of practice.

When he proposes nothing but a continuation of the same approach, citing only insufficient time as an excuse, what is it that his followers see in his methods that lends them any credence? No previous recession has ever lasted this long, nor had unemployment more than 8 percent been previously sustained more than three years.

Why is it that so many likely voters cannot see the folly in Obama’s reckless increase in the federal deficit (nearly $6 trillion in four years) with no credible plan to curtail it? His lame solution is to raise taxes on the “rich” – those who create the lion’s share of American jobs, and already pay most of the income taxes. The debt is now more than $16 trillion – some $52,000 for every man, woman and child in America!

Why can’t we see the precarious path we are following, like Pied Piper-Obama’s rats to the end of the fiscal pier, soon to be swallowed up in the swamp of socialism in the manner of Greece, et al.? Who among us are blind enough not to see that our national survival is at stake in this election? It’s high time for a turnaround!

Yes, it's time for a turnaround, Terrence. What/who do you suggest and why? You conveniently sidestep the positions of president Obama's opponent. Could that be that he really has not articulated any yet?

Qbama's fault?

Bush left the country on the brink of collapse yet Obama gets the blame. It never ceases to amaze me how Obama gets the blame for not fixing Bush's inept Presidency. Obama gets labeled a socialist when most of Augusta doesn't even know the meaning of the word. I personally believe the conservatives have no idea what politics had to play with hamstringing anything Obama tried to implement. I also think most Augustins know nothing of politics.
Is it because Obama is Black?

The closer we get to Nov. 6,

The closer we get to Nov. 6, the more lies we are going to heard about President Obama. Democrats and Republicans across the country forced Romney to discuss the most controversial elements of his campaign - his time at Bain Capital and his failure to release his tax returns. Romney hopes Paul Ryan can refocus the campaign back to attacking President Obama and pleasing the Tea - Party base of the Republican Party. Instead, his Vice Presidential pick revealed more of Romney's hypocrisy. While Romney has refused to disclose his own tax returns to the public, he happily submitted 23 years of taxes to Sen. John McCain. This year, he demanded all of his potential Vice Presidential picks provide him with years of returns. How does he think he can get away with his hypocrisy?

I don't want anyone to think

I don't want anyone to think I don't like President Obama, have a vendetta against him and think I can't be trusted because I might say something personally attacking him. Yet, I still have the feeling Pres. Obama doesn't mind redistributing the wealth. Not sure what you call it, but other historical characters who did it were called socialists of various kinds.

"When he proposes nothing but

"When he proposes nothing but a continuation of the same approach"?? Giving more tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires (you know, the job creators)? That's the policy we've been following the longest, since around 1981.

From Merriam-Webster: Exacerbate: to make more violent, bitter, or severe

I wish you, and other Obama supporters, would come up with a new mantra. The "Bush's Fault" stance is banal at best and always fails to put any blame on the current administration. Please come up with something new and original. New CEOs are hired to solve problems, not exacerbate the problems. I have serious doubts about Romney also, but at least he has a fresh set of eyes. We'll see!

Ttruth of the matter is this

Truth of the matter is this economic meltdown goes back to Carter and then to Clinton followed closely by Barney Frank and Chris Dodd refusal to curtail fanny Mae and Freddie Mac when they were over extended, the tax payer is still on the hook for billions of tax payer dollars). Now why won't the libs acknowledge that Obama spent $800 billion dollars and told us that unemployment would not reach 8% and promised shovel ready jobs and the economy would start booming? Is that not exactly what Obama PROMISED? Unemployment, if according to Obama, the stimulus were passed would be at 6% today. Now he failed at all that so it is Bush's fault? Obama has accepted responsibility for NOTHING! It is always somebody else’s fault and that is what I describe as a spoiled child!

Republicans and Democrats Both Wrong

The social spending Obama has been doing hasn't worked here or anywhere else in the world. Romney want's to go back to more trickle down economics, which also doesn't work for anybody except the very rich. People want government to be Santa Claus. They want spending on their projects without paying for it.

Here's what does work, but it won't get on anybody's platform: 1)Balance the budget even when it hurts. 2)Stay out of expensive wars, and don't borrow to pay for them when they are inevitable. 3) Educate future generations. 4) Don't leave future generations with expensive environmental cleanup.

Carcraft is correct

Anyone who knows anything about the mortgage mess knows none of it would have happened if it wasn't for Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. If they hadn't been buying and guaranteeing all those worthless loans and thereby insuring AAA rating from the fraudulent rating companies, the mortgages could not have been bundled in derivatives and sold. Bush repeatedly tried to warn Congress but he was called a racist and accused of not wanting black people to own homes. He was accused of a lynching of that crook Franklin Raines, Obama's good buddy by the way. Even the Clinton administration tried to warn Congress also to no avail. The truth is that Bush created jobs for 52 straight months, something no other president in history has done and at one point despite the tax cuts for EVERYONE not just the rich had the highest tax revenue in history. But it is still his fault 4 years later and as dade20906 says this election is all about Romney's tax returns. God help us.

dade, please go get your

dade, please go get your information straight. Romney has released his tax returns and has complied legally. Repeat a lie long enough and soon you believe it.

Gov. Romney has released numerous financial disclosures since 2002, as required by law – which have also been posted on his site. There are 3 federal Public Financial Disclosures (from 2007, 2011, and 2012), and 6 Massachusetts Statements of Financial Interests (from 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007). With a decade's worth of financial disclosure documents and the Romneys' recent tax returns, the American people have an extensive view of the Governor's personal finances, above and beyond what is required by the law.

Personally I don't care how he made his money as long as it was legally and paid the taxes required on it.

....why can't us mean-spirited, evil, rich, racist, bigoted, homophobic, bible-thumping, gun-toting, tea-baggers, just sit down, shut up, and let our young, courageous, brilliant, handsome, "sort of a God", (who actually had to take a step DOWN into the presidency) Barack Hussein Obama, lower the sea levels, insure the world over will love us AND single-handedly eradicate racism as we were told when he was NOT vetted by our media and the lap-dogs of the left? credit..

how so many can be bamboozelled by all the talk about how the rich are our saviors is amazing. The root of the problem was excessive credit in the markets, every economist says such. overzealous lending institutions were the problem and the crash of '08 was just that, the chicken coming home to roost. Reigning in all that excessive lending that kept our economy afloat is what happened. Any economist worth his mustard knows that 'DEMAND' is what is lacking, DEMAND. Now you come up with a program to increase demand in the economy and then we might see some improvement. Personally, I am with those that say we better get used to this economy, because it is not going to get better any time soon no matter who is in the white house. All we hear are pipe dreams from mittens with no actual formula. I for one am going to 'dance with the one I came with' on this one... to think the wealthy 1% who take in over 50% of the income cannot 'pony up' more is ludicrous and to think that those on the public dole can not use a substantial cut in there allotment is just as ludicrous.

After 4 years of Obama,

After 4 years of Obama, NOTHING is moving in the right direction. Unemployment, which had stabilized for a few months and an unacceptable level, is now going up again if you cound those who have given up looking for a job. The lowest percentage of Americans working in 75 years.

Nothing is going in the right direction. The debt is crushing us while Obama keeps spending. Obamacare is now admittedly going to cost us TWICE what they said it would. Wages are down. Food stamp and welfare recipients are up. All because of Obama and the Democrats policies. After 4 years, SOMETHING should be getting better for the middle class but it is NOT going in the right direction.

And Bernake just made his Stimulus III attempt to bail Obama out. $40 billion dollars a month.....of money we do not have......printed WORTHLESS money that will drive up the cost of gasoline, food, and everything else. Another rating company just DOWNGRADED us again because of this STUPID decision. America's credit is now AA- ....below AA. Even after the burp we called a "collapse" we were AAA until Obama spent us blind.

Obama is a disaster. He is a disaster for our economy. He is a disaster in foreign policy. His Muslim Brotherhood buddies are attacking our embassies in 13 countries as we speak.

The single word to describe the result of 4 years of Obama is WEAK. WEAK economy, WEAK dollar, WEAK foreign policy, and soon to be WEAK military.

Well, there are a few STRONGs. STRONG anti-business EPA, STRONG anit-business bank regulations, STRONG anti-energy policies, STRONG pro-illgal immigration Department of Homeland Security, STRONG anit-business AND pro-illegal immigration Department of Justice.

The Obama results are there for anyone to see. Look at the gas pump this morning. Turn on the news and watch our embassies burn. Turn on the financial networks and hear about us being downgraded again. Listen to them talk about the pending financial crises this spending will bring. And just remember...Clinton was not supporting Obama at the DNC. Clinton was speaking for Hillary in 2016.

Whatever you think about Romney, he cannot do any worse than this baffoon. Obama has screwed up everything he touched. None of his policies are working and his "free stuff" hasn't been paid for. What Bush did by not paying for the wars, Obama has doubled up on with Obamacare and Stimulus...I, II, and now III. Obama is a disaster. He is an empty suit....trained, mentored, and promoted by socialist, communists, and anti-capitalist extremists. See 2016 Obama's Ame.rica.

And robaroo......I don't remember Romney running on the platform of "trickle down economics". He righfully says that you cannot expect global businesses to locate in America when we have the highest corporate tax rate and the worst regulatory environment in the world. It's common sense. Let it sink in. We keep shooting ourselves in the foot and then complaining that we are bleeding. I assure you we are MUCH better off when the rich are making money that we are when they AREN'T making money.

....the reality , for all of you "wealth envy" types is that, the top 10% of wage earners already pay over 60% of taxes collected....So you're saying that's NOT their fair share? What, in your opinion WOULD be their fair share. 70, 80 or even 90%? ...at least do a little research before you start blindly spouting garbage about "fair share's" when we have almost half the populace that pays NOTHING......

Does Romney project citizens who have lost their moral compass and are mired in the swamp of self indulgence? Me thinks not. We live in a New America.
