New school name 'hideous'

  • Follow Letters

I am a graduate of both the former Augusta College and the former Medical College of Georgia – the schools to be combined under the name “Georgia Regents University.” I am appalled at the hideous new name and the arrogant way in which the naming proceeded.

I would be proud to list “University of Augusta” twice on my curriculum vitae. However, I refuse to acknowledge or support a school with that ridiculous new name.

I agree

It's bland, biege, and sounds too much like Georgia Rejects University.
Glad to be a USC grad!

The name exposes the vanity and false pride of the members of the Board of Regents.

To vote to name a university after a bunch of campaign donors is indeed hideous, Dr. Lindsey.
