First, since opposition centers on the absence of our city’s name, why not consider a solution already in use all over the country by simply applying the city name to a newly constructed component of a University System – in our case, the University of Georgia at Augusta?
If there is some administrative barrier to this, or if it stirs up new controversies, consider another possibility: We’re not the only city in the state to face the problem of merged schools. Perhaps Augusta would accept “Georgia Regents University at Augusta” as one of a new group of institutions within the University System.
