Thank you, Chicago!

Chicago’s mayor has declared that “Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values.” Was that supposed to be an indictment or a compliment?

What does Chicago value? Does it value prompt and courteous service? Does it value the lives and families of employees who are not required to work on Sunday? No, those aren’t the issues. The real issue is that certain Chicago politicians do not value traditional marriage and feel that they must attack anyone who does.

It is clear that “Chick-fil-A values” are Kingdom of God values, and that is just the problem. Jesus said, “If they have hated Me, they will hate you.” He tells us to count it as all joy when persecuted for righteousness’ sake.

Christians are not ashamed of Christ or of the values of His kingdom. We are prepared to suffer, whenever necessary, for His name’s sake.

For the record, we neither hate the people who disagree with us, nor single them out for persecution. Our King tells us to bless those who persecute us and love those who hate us. Christians defend Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s right to freely hold his opinion, but his comment seems ironically telling. He meant to condemn Chick-fil-A, but he unintentionally praised it by contrasting its Godly values with the worldly values that he seems to cherish.

Liberals are all for free speech, as long as its something they agree with. If it isn't, they want to shut it down. Not long ago, it was conservative talk radio, which they wanted to shut down with a so called "Fairness Doctrine." Now, with all the bad economic news that we're hearing, they want you the public to not look at our president and his failures, but at those mean old Christians who run Chick-Fil-A. Yeah, I'm laughing.

actually it has nothing to do

actually it has nothing to do with "traditional marriage" debates. Most cities like Chicago have specific non-discrimination laws protecting the lgbt community from being fired or singled out on the job. CFA openly defies those policies. So no they are not welcome.

It really shouldn't be a problem

if you aren't doing PDAs and other inappropriate stuff in public. As for benefits, there are lots of places that don't provide them at all for any employees. Most CFA workers don't get them either.

So what's the big beef regarding Cathy's personal values? I've never heard of anyone being hired or fired at a CFA based on their secksuul orientation. Why would it even come up if someone was simply doing their job?

It's the "in your face-gotta' approve of my choice" attitude that generally is the problem. As for the rest of the issue, like marriage and spousal benefits for the "lgbt", well, Americans are a long way from being able to accept that as normal, no matter how loudly it is screamed at us or how severely we are threatened regarding it. There even are huge swaths of liberal voters who aren't gonna get jiggy with that.

Europe, however, is a great place to be if you want to shed all Judeo-Christian and Muslim influence in order to place yourself under the crushing socialism that always seems to accompany a society's conversion to the religion of moral relativism and secular humanism.

I think that probably is where we are headed ourselves unless something truly seismic and positive happens to us as a nation. It could, but I'm not betting on it right now.

include bacon, sausage and Coca-Cola on the menu, and the complete disregard for keeping the Sabbath on Saturday?

This would be funny, if I didn't have to eventually help pay for the inevitable consequences of your bad diet and worse thinking, as I'm guessing you oppose real health care reform, too.

who respond to letters, I guess "ignorance" is bliss. Chicago has been documented as one of the most, if not the most, corrupt city in the northern hemisphere dating back to the 1840's. I really pay a lot of attention to chicagagonians.

It's HIS MONEY!

Doh. Nothing like a little socialism to make our day nice and bright, right JIC?!

If you don't like how he uses his own money, go earn as much yourself and support the causes you like. Nobody will stop you. Just get over the sour grapes mind control thingy.

Personally, I tend to like the "step up or shut up" kind of reality.

And, honestly,

Where do you people--yes, I said "you people"--get off thinking you have a right or even the moral status and position to tell the rest of us what we even OUGHT to think, must less what we MUST think.

The vast majority will peacefully let you pursue your own path as long as you don't break laws or hurt people, but we just laugh at you when you tell us what we must believe about right and wrong and good and bad. You look ridiculous--right up until you start to threaten us. And then we stop laughing and start acting.

The Chick-Fil-A appreciation day was nothing at all compared to what may well be down the road. This really is, after all, a culture war, and it's just getting warmed up. Nothing much yet but a few posturing exercises.

On the same day Rahm Emanuel

On the same day Rahm Emanuel made those statements about Chick-fil-a, he met with Louis Farrakhan about supporting a Crime-Stop bill. Does her realize Louis Farrakhan has openly bashed homosexual lifestyles? Does he realize that muslims behead homosexuals in their Countries. Louis Farrakhan is a devout muslim, hmmmmmm the hypocrisy.

Also, the mayor of Boston who also stated he would stop Chick-fil-a from opening business in HIS City, gave a piece of property worth 1.8 million to a muslim group to build a Muslim Center in the City of Boston. Does this mayor realize the muslim faith says to behead homosexuals?? Or am I misinterpreting the Quran? I just witnessed a video the other day of a man caught in Iran committing a homosexual act. He was taken out and shot 8 times, on camera. Mr. Boston Mayer, do you realize who it is you are supporting??? Giving expensive property to such a hate group, that can't stand homosexuals???

The truth is this has nothing to do with gay marriage with them. Its as the Bible says. Its spiritual warfare that has been waged against Christians and possibly Jews. Muslims, Buddhists, or any other FAITH can do whatever they want with no outcry from the left. Muslims even KILL HOMOSEXUALS by LAW but you won't hear a peep from leftists about this. They just continue to bash THIS COUNTRY and CHRISTIANS as bigots, homophobes, ect. Its is all LIES!!!!

I just saw a Pew Research

I just saw a Pew Research Poll that stated people in this Country are changing their view on gay marriage. Supposedly, 44% now favor gay marriage and 41 % oppose. Thats funny Mr. Pew Research guy, since EVERY STATE that has placed it on the ballot, gay marriage has failed. Colorado was the lowest with only 63% voting against gay marriage. Even liberal California voted over 70% against it. Please don't believe me, look it up.

Maybe its because when asked directly, people are afraid to be labeled bigots and homophobes, so they aren't exactly honest about their feelings. But when they are alone in the ballot box, they aren't afraid and vote THEIR HEARTS. Statistics and Polls are deceiving, don't believe them. The VAST Majority of this Country are against Gay marriage, lets stick with it!!! Now, I'm off to my children's open house at school.

Won't be going to Chick Fil A

Glad I never did eat there anyway! I don't visit Hobby Lobby either for these same reasons. Any business giving to hate groups is not getting my money.
