Friends stand with McLeod

  • Follow Letters

We are all lifelong friends of Wright McLeod, and are honored to support his candidacy for the 12th Congressional District. This letter is to express our support and to respond to recent mudslinging by his opponents and the media.

Wright’s example of service to this country is without question. After graduating from the U. S. Naval Academy, he spent the next 20 years defending our freedom in the U.S. Navy. As a naval aviator in the first Gulf War, he answered the call from the cockpit of an F-14 Tomcat fighter. Wright is now stepping forward again, this time as a candidate for Congress.

Few would argue that real leadership is lacking in Washington. Wright McLeod is a man of strong convictions with the integrity to stand up and apply them. He is a small-businessman who knows what it is like to make payroll every Friday.

Wright is a true conservative who believes our government should return to the principles defined in the Constitution. He knows that higher taxes and an ever-expanding government are not the answer.

Wright McLeod is a proven leader with the ability to articulate this message and deliver it to Washington. We are proud to support Wright’s candidacy to become the next representative from the 12th Congressional District of Georgia.

Wow!

It's 12:15 p.m. on a Saturday. I am the first to fill in the comment box for this plea of mercy. I have to assume that our usual bloggers really don't give a hoot. Neither do I.

Give us some details to defend McLeod's campaign funding. Simple rhetoric is not always a useful tool.

I'll be voting for a sheriff's candidate on the Tuesday ballot, and should McLeod make it to the general election, I will vote for him. McLeod, Allen, Anderson -- they're all the same to me.

Right on,

Avidreader!

This pablum is tainted with weevils.

McLeod lost credibility when he said he voted for Bill Richardson in the 2008 presidential primary. First off, Bill Richardson had already pulled out of the race weeks before this primary — that means that McLeod is not reliable if he is voting for a non-candidate. Second, there was a real Republican contest in 2008. McCain was a known commodity but was lackluster in March, 2008. Romney was organized and getting traction, but the evangelicals were secretly trashing his Mormon religion, Huckabee was a dark horse just being trotted to the track, Giuliani was still strong. The race was vigorous and important. It would have been unconscionable for a true Republican to vote in the Democratic presidential primary in 2008. Something is fishy, fishy, fishy in McLeod's rationalizations. McLeod is the Peebles of this congressional race.
