We're taxed enough already

There are signs all over the CSRA asking you to vote YES for the transportation special-purpose local option sales tax July 31.

I have no doubt that our roads need improvement, but we already pay a motor use fuel tax for road improvements. For every gallon of gasoline or diesel fuel, you pay 7.5 cents for a highway tax; 3 cents sales tax; 1 cent that goes to the state of Georgia general fund; and 18.4 cents as a federal excise tax. So for every gallon of fuel you put in your vehicle, you already pay 29.9 cents in taxes.

If you vote “yes” for this new tax, it will be in effect for 10 years. Most of us will need a new vehicle in 10 years, so 1 percent added to the sales price of most cars and trucks will add another $300 to $400. In Columbia County, we pay a state income tax; real-estate property tax; ad valorem tax on personal property; state and local sales taxes; a local SPLOST; and a rain tax. What is left to tax?

Vote “no” on the TSPLOST.

THE TAX TAX

I'd like to introduce the TAX-TAX. Its complicated but basically because you are taxed at so many levels, we the govnmint will levy this new tax to help insure that taxes are as high as possible with the least direct benefit possible. The new TAX-TAX will be the simple remainder of hp what we haven't taxed out of you already.

We is the govnmint and we am here to hep.

Thank you.

Let me count the ways.

And RC, rural only, residents. Don't forget.....they just voted to raise your fire taxes......they just voted to raise your garbage fees and give you half the service. And of course you're looking at ALL federal income taxes going up in January......and of course there are the TAX and PENALTY....and INCREASED HEALTH INSURANCE costs coming from OBAMACARE. And remember.....there is also a drought so the price of food will be going up between 4% and 10% next year.....maybe more for some items. These are NOT pennies we are tallking about here. All of these adds up to SERIOUS DOLLARS out of YOUR FAMILIES money.

And now they want TSPLOST because they have already blown and mismanaged the GASOLINE TAX and spent it all in METRO ATLANTA.

Please VOTE NO on TSPLOST and send these pigs a message that there is a limited amount of slop to put in their trough.
