Overstreet worthy of re-election

Elections are vital to our system of government, and none is more important than the election of judge to the Augusta Judicial Circuit.

I support Chief Judge Carlisle Overstreet for re-election. Judge Overstreet has served Burke, Columbia and Richmond counties honorably for 20 years. He has proved himself knowledgeable of the law, dedicated to his profession and sensitive to “Wisdom, Justice and Moderation,” our state motto.

In addition to his judicial responsibilities Judge Overstreet has been recognized by his service to this community in many other ways. At Augusta State University he has received the Augusta College Service Award, Golden Key Award, President’s Award and Augusta College Outstanding Alumnus Award, and has been recognized by Who’s Who in American Education.

Judge Overstreet has been recognized by his peers. He has served as president, secretary and treasurer of the Council of Superior Court Judges. He is a member of the Augusta Bar Association, State Bar of Georgia, Augusta Area Trial Lawyers Association and the Supreme Court’s Commission on Jury Composition.

He is a native of Augusta, and has two sons and two grandchildren.

Judge Overstreet is an honorable man who has served this judicial circuit faithfully and sincerely, and who deserves re-election.

(The writer served eight terms in Congress representing Georgia’s 10th District from 1977 to 1993.)

Good judgement?

Does Carlisle have good judgement?

Now he does have "The Chief." Or does "The Chief" have him?
