Hold parents responsible

  • Follow Letters

I do not believe that putting an end to First Friday – although I do not attend – or beefing up police presence will put an end to this incredibly stupid violence.

What I propose is that if those responsible are indeed minors, go after the parents. Perhaps if they are held responsible – which they should be – and are hit hard in the pocketbook, they’ll take care of their kids.

Friday

The biggest reason for this stupidity, is the LACK of parents in these kid's lives, so who do you hold responsible? Most of these getting in trouble have parents in jail, on drugs , or dead, and poor grandma is stuck trying to raise them. There's just very little accountability anymore, so humans begin to act like animals...but humans are the only species that harm/kill their own.

Another modest proposal:

An open-season on "dead-beat" dads. No limit.

I gather Bamamans solution is
Unpublished

I gather Bamamans solution is to just give up and give in because its to hard to do something. I say we need to start reviewing our laws and putting some teeth into our legal system. One start would be to require all new jails to be built at the county line and away from civilized society. A second would be to house prisoners in army tents surrounded by razor wire. But those would hurt some peoples bottom line and hurt construction jobs. What we are saddled with is over priced facilities that we can't afford to staff and a group of prisoners we can't afford to feed. And all this was brought to us by our elected lawyers that represent us in the legislature to make laws that do not benefit them one bit.

Parents responsibility
Unpublished

Donnakay, a lot of these "parents" are already on government assistance. Go ahead and hit them in the pocketbook. They don't care, its not like they have to get out there and earn the money. They'll laugh in your face. No, the real way to get these kids to stop acting this way is to make them work, REAL HARD WORK, and make them pay restitution to the victims of their actions. Nothing reaches a kid faster than hard work.

What about Exile?

Why can't a community of civilized people simply EXILE violent offenders who attempt to destroy the balance of civility? Persona non grata literally means, "an unwelcome person". Many ancient societies condemned violent people to separation from the moral population. Of course, in the old world, there were boundless locations where an exiled cretin could wander off to.

Why not exile our misfits to "for profit" prisons in Mexico, where the inmates work twelve-hour days and produce profit for some savvy entrepeneur. The Mexicans would surely appreciate the business. Current companies that make mousetraps, toothpicks, Glade air fresheners, and fly swatters could be given the opportunity to operate these corporate prisons and increase their profits immensely. Plus, do-gooders from the U.S. would have no control over the prisons.

I know I'm totally full of it; however, I was simply thinking out loud.

If something is not done

If something is not done about all this violence and soon, all that will be left in Augusta are the violent kids, their parents and their thug buddies. Get this under control now or there will be nothing good left in Augusta.

You will never be able to

You will never be able to slow down any of the violence and crime. The bleeding hearts will never allow what needs to be done. I wish we could split the country....productive law abiding citizens on one side to live a normal life..... the lowlife thugs with their bleeding heart supporters that don't have the common sense of a brick on the other! Maybe they would just kill each other off and we can have a civilized country. After all we don't need either of that crap DNA being bred!! Can't stand an ignorant bleeding heart. Its 100% their fault we can't minimize the impact of this scum!!! They are worse than the scum they defend!!!
