Dems tearing nation down

  • Follow Letters

President Obama has publicly embraced the idea of same-sex marriage. In doing so, he has ignored and insulted that majority portion of our citizenry who are adamantly against this, and see it as another huge tear in the fabric of our society – all foisted on us by Democrats intent on tearing down America!

Another finger in the eye to us, then! He also states that he feels it is up to the individual states to decide this question, but he has an appalling record of hostility toward the rights of the states and doesn’t mean this.

If he is elected for a second term, he will push hard to make same-sex marriage a federal law regardless of what he says now. What could be next on the Democrat agenda? Perhaps bestiality, pedophilia or legalized incest? Don’t those who advocate these practices deserve to be heard, too? In the interest of fairness, will there be a special niche created for them and their cause in the Democratic Party?

When does this ripping and tearing of our societal values end?

Those on the extreme left of the political spectrum have a preconceived mind-set of how the world is and how the rest of us should think and act. They segregate this notion in their mind and allow nothing to penetrate the firewall. Neither facts, ideas nor anything else is allowed in to disrupt the model. Anything contrary to what they think they know is automatically excluded.

They see themselves as the smartest, most caring people on Earth, and if they think something, it absolutely must be so. Feel free to characterize this as arrogance, for it is! Of course, Democrats know with certainty that the rest of us had best put aside our morality and common sense and get on board with them.

In their minds, they’re always right, you know!

If you are going to espouse homophobia and bigotry at least get your facts straight. According to a May 22,2012 NBC News Wall Street Journal poll 54% of the respondents favor same sex marriage. Gay and lesbian rights are the civil rights issue of today. Discrimination in any form is just plain bigotry and that is what is tearing the moral fiber of this country apart.

Ol dependable Robert Smock.

Ol dependable Robert Smock. There is a famous attraction in the national park system that sorta reminds me of Robert.

Old Faithful. With precision and predictability it also spews out hot air. Almost set your watch to it.

Robert writes"What could be next on the Democrat agenda? Perhaps bestiality, pedophilia or legalized incest?" Where in heavens name does he come up with such stuff?

Hey Robert, my moral fiber feels pretty good right about now. Would it be OK to scratch my dog between the ears?

What's the problem with

What's the problem with equality? We all know what the bible says. The problem here is that the same old bible thumpers that are trying to take any mention of the bible out of everything in this country such as in god we trust off the dollar, out of the school systems, out of government, and more. The very principles this country was built on are the very reasons this conservative movement of some of the people are screaming bloody murder because gays want equal rights too. You don't want the government to handle it and the church doesn't want any part of it! GW Jr, Bush Sr, Clinton and others have supported equality for gays. Look at the Don't as Don't tell policy. Illegal as all get out and it was finally shot down. It's called discrimination!!! The sexual orientation of a people has nothing to do with them being people first. Get a grip. The Dems are not ruining this country by wanting equality. And so many Conservatives have come out the closet the past several years I don't understand why the conservatives don't want equal rights for their own. This puzzles all of us.

Homosexuals have the exact
Unpublished

Homosexuals have the exact same restrictions on marriage that everyone else has. They are not being denied any rights that anyone else has. One can not marry ANYONE they want, simply because they love them. If you love someone who is under age, you can't marry them. If you love someone who is your son or daughter, you can't marry them, etc etc. The problem is not one of civil rights being denied to a certain group of people. The problem is whether or not you agree with the particular restriction on marriage. That being said, it is not hard to see a link between pedophillia and the like. If you eliminate one restriction, because it is now considered normal (even though 30 years ago it was classified as a mental illness) what is to stop society from redefining what is normal and eliminating ALL restrictions?

I vote for 700 wives and 300 concubines, the same as Solomon.
Editors, Please consider changing the policy so letters to the editor are limited to every 3 months or 6 months so we don't have to read the same drivel from the same people every 30 days (they can write drivel in the comments daily, the same as the rest of us). Are letters that scarce? You would think with a MSA of over 1/2 million, there wouldn't be a short supply.

"then why does same sex marriage always get defeated in state elections". Rights should not be put up to a vote. Around here, I'm sure they could get a fairly percentage on whether or not blacks or women should be allowed to vote.

Shea_Addams, it's been a while.

Correct, you cannot marry someone underage, because they cannot enter a contract. And you cannot marry your sibling, even if you love your sibling.

Both of those have nothing to do with same-sex marriage. All the arguments being made here against same-sex marriage was the same verbiage used as an attempt to prevent whites marrying blacks. And look, the world didn't end when that was allowed.

And it's disgusting you attempt to link homosexuality to pedophilia.

You are correct TParty, All the arguments being made here against same-sex marriage was the same verbiage used as an attempt to prevent whites marrying blacks. And THAT restriction, which applied to ALL people, was lifted, just as the restriction to same sex marriage will likely be. And it is simply YOUR opinion that it is disgusting to link homosexuality to pedophillia. Pedophillia, as defined by law is based on an arbitrary age, that varies from state to state. Are you saying that a 20 year old who has sex with a 16 year old in GA is NOT a pedophile, but in NY he is?

" And you cannot marry your sibling, even if you love your sibling."

And why not TParty. If two siblings love each other and are adults, why can't they marry. They are just two people who want to get married and live their lives together. They love each other. What's wrong with that. It's their right to be happy and married. Heck, even two sisters should be able to get married or two brothers. Anyone should be able to marry anyone they want to.

Isn't that the same justification used in the Homosexual Marriage debate.

Polls do show more in favor.

Polls do show more in favor. In Cal, you had the Mormons spending millions and getting out the vote to defeat it. In NC, well it's NC. What do you expect from the old Confederacy?

Phobic? No way.

I don't know of a single "homophobe". I know no one who is at all scared of homosexuality. I know many who are opposed to it and homosexual marriage.

This is another example of a group trying to invent or redefine terminology to try and extol their viewpoint and make anyone in disagreement look either stupid or psychologically unbalanced.

Let's stop redefining our terms, and just say the some folks are opposed to homosexuality, not phobic of it. If you support homosexuality, then fine. Have it your way. If others don't, be equally tolerant of their opinion and stop the tactic of branding them as "homophobes".

If you have a 100 people and

If you have a 100 people and 50 are against and 50 are for something. Then you take a poll but you poll all 50 who are for and only 10 who are against, technically you can report you have 83% for your cause, but is it truthful. Actually you only have 50% for your cause and 50% against it. Statistics can be manipulated any way you like them to, depending on how you poll the numbers.

This idea of incest- listen. If people want to fool around with their siblings- that's on them. Privacy of their own home, I don't care. Science has proved the genetic problems of reproducing, but again, whatever. Royalty have been doing it forever.

The disgust of incest to me is not a reason to prevent same sex marriage.
