We have to elect Romney

  • Follow Letters

Those of us who care about the direction of this country can rest at ease knowing that South Carolina will vote overwhelmingly for Mitt Romney.

It is well-known that the election will come down to 10 to 12 states and it is critical that these states also vote for Romney in November. I urge everyone to please contact your family, friends, business associates and others in these battleground states and convince them that, to save this country, we must elect Romney as our president in November 2012.

Our country can’t survive another four years of President Obama. Obama is doing all he can, as fast as he can, to destroy this country, and we must stop him at the ballot box. Our future depends on seeing that Romney is elected our new president.

Dave Hill

Aiken, S.C.

Well which Romney would the author of this letter have us vote for? There are after all so many different versions of him.

Oh and Dave, others care about the direction of this nation besides yourself. Lord knows I have given a good part of my youth serving her and i like the fact that we finnaly have a President who had the guts, smarts and determination to kill Osama bin Laden and quite a few others who meant us harm. I thought that was pretty cool myself.

The next time you write a letter to the editor why don't you give us your reasons other than "Obama is doing all he can, as fast as he can, to destroy this country,". Just can't picture that as having any truth to it at all.

Our country survived 8 years

Our country survived 8 years of the worst administration in HISTORY, 2 wars; unpaid, drug benefit; unpaid, Greatest foreign policy mistakes in generations, GWB. All that after a tax cut because as I remember, those that payed to balance the budget were DUE a reprieve.. I am sure our present administration and government can get through the next 4 just fine.

Which Romney will save this

Which Romney will save this country? Is it the democratic Governor of Massachusetts? You know how is a democrat for sure? He passed health care for his state that looks eerily like Obamacare. He took a lot of federal money to get the Olympics saved. Took millions of dollars for transportation reasons for his state. His recent speech - he mentioned his father being governor, but not one mention of himself being governor- because acted like a democrat in office. Just look how he left his state at 47th in job growth. Even if you use Obama's 57 number- that's still terrible.

Or do you want the severely conservative Romney, who only said what he needed to say to beat out the current crazy GOP folks? (Probably explains why few conservative folks just call him a nice guy when endorsing Mittens) WHo said he supports Ryan's budget, but when asked about details in the plan he supports (Like student loan interest rates) he says he doesn't support that part of the budget.

See how quickly Mitten's is turning around from his 'severely conservatism'?

No one has to elect Mitten's. But, that's the bed the crazy GOP made for themselves. Huntsman is a conservative who would have easily beaten Obama. For those who will call him bland- ha! Look at Mittens. Or, we could have had Ron Paul, who is the only guy that has been practicing conservatism, and state rights since in public office, who would have eliminated all those departments the right complains about.

Sadly the corporations picked their corporate friend, and the people will get screwed some more, because Obama himself is one. Goodbye rights, goodbye good wages. And hopefully goodbye crazy GOP.

Amazing. The best the liberal

Amazing. The best the liberal left has is:
1.President Obama authorized the mission to kill UBL, but, according to recent reports left wiggle room to blame others if things went wrong.
2. President Obama is not as bad as Bush - who despite his administration's flaws kept the country safe from a repeat attack, and shifted the fight with Islamic terrorists to SWA.
3. Mr Romney is boring, has a less than stellar consrvative pedigree while serving as a Republican governer of a very liberal Democratic state, and has changed positions on a few issues.

President Obama's legacy goes way beyond "he got bin Laden."
1. He has accelerated the rate of debt increase, and vastly expanded the national debt with vitually nothing to show for it.
2. He pushed through Obamacare using the tactics he opposed and campaigned against. A law that will increase our debt significantly if implemented, but will likely be ruled unconstitutional.
3. He mis-spent tax dollars funding solar and other green tech that had no chance of succeeding, and increased our energy dependancy by limiting production on federal land and aggressively used his executive power to reduce our refining capacity.
4. He questioned the constitutional power of the SC and injected his opinion into cases involving different races without all the facts.
5. Despite the law and constitution, he failed to submit a complete budget to congress for years, he appointed officials needing Senate approval while the Senate was technically in session, and he failed to enforce existing immigration statutes.
6. He speaks out against a law abiding group with oppossing views, and supports the group that acts illegally, and causes unrest and violence becaused they could help get him re-elected.
7. He took a state to court for enacting laws that support existing immigration laws, but failed to take action against cities that ignore federal law.

I could go on, but surely the pro-Obama folks can come up with some concrete positives that would sway public opinion to Obama's side. The impact of President Obama's decision to pull troops out of Iraq, set time tables for Afgahnistan, hand wringing over Iran, and blind eye to illegal aliens have not been fully established. Be careful not to spike the ball too soon on those.

Let me re-phrase the budget

Let me re-phrase the budget issue with President Obama since TECHFAN steered me right. President Obama made no effort to develop or submit a budget that would or could be passed, or to really work across parties/houses to get a full budget passed. Talk of compromise is viewed as capitulation. Blames Republicans when the whole Senate rejects his proposal out right. Budgets submitted fail to take aggressive action to fix our debt issue and overspending. He's a gem either way.

I do believe that credit needs to go to our men and women in the armed service and NOT Obama. He just happened to be the "OK" man when the opportunity to take out OBL arrived. To give him credit for killing OBL is like a slap in the face to our dedicated men and women in the service who work so hard and sacrifice (some with their lives) everyday for this country.

ICL- If the mission went

ICL- If the mission went wrong, would you say Obama just okayed it- but the men and women in the armed service need to take credit for the failure and repercussions of the mission failing?

People who say Obama does not deserve credit for the decision of saying "go" clearly do not understand severity of that decision and what was at stake. Invading a sovereign nation with nuclear arms is nothing to scoff at.

Romney said: “It’s not worth moving heaven and earth spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person.”

It obvious that Obama should have flown in on an aircraft carrier, in full flight suit, with a giant banner behind him saying, "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED", to announce that Bin Laden was dead. That way everyone could have seen he wasn't trying to take any credit.

I see now. You don't like the fact that our President is a principled man who won't do what you want him to. Guess what. He's not going to either.

I'd much rather have a man like that-you know principaled- leading our nation than a "flipflopping say what the crowd wants to hear character" like Willard Romney.

TParty, if the mission had gone wrong, believe it, this President would NOT have taken the blame, he would have put it all on the military personnel. No way would he have taken credit for a failed mission but enjoys when things go right and takes every opportunity to make himself look good (whether deserved or not).

Well ICL- I disagree with you. Good luck has it, we don't have to debate what would have happened if it wrong, because things went smoothly, and bin Laden is dead. I don't like Obama, but I give him much credit for his call on that one. He was laughed at and mocked by the right during the election for saying he would go into Pakistan if bin Laden was there. Obama could have said "Screw it, no one really cares about bin Laden anymore, just ask Romney, or Bush, or the media who never covered the wars anymore. Besides, I wouldn't want to jeopardize my Presidency on this one decision, be like Carter and have this plague this administration everyday about me saying "Go" and elite members were killed or captured...."

TParty, nice way to take a

TParty, nice way to take a statement out of context "Romney said: “It’s not worth moving heaven and earth spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person.”

How about being truthful and reveal the whole context of the discussion.

For the record, this is the exchange between Romney and Associated Press reporter Liz Sidoti:

SIDOTI: Why haven't we caught bin Laden in your opinion?

GOVERNOR ROMNEY: I think, I wouldn't want to over-concentrate on Bin Laden. He's one of many, many people who are involved in this global Jihadist effort. He's by no means the only leader. It's a very diverse group – Hamas, Hezbollah, al-Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood and of course different names throughout the world. It's not worth moving heaven and earth and spending billions of dollars just trying to catch one person. It is worth fashioning and executing an effective strategy to defeat global, violent Jihad and I have a plan for doing that.

SIDOTI: But would the world be safer if bin laden were caught?

GOVERNOR ROMNEY: Yes, but by a small percentage increase – a very insignificant increase in safety by virtue of replacing bin Laden with someone else. Zarqawi – we celebrated the killing of Zarqawi, but he was quickly replaced. Global Jihad is not an effort that is being populated by a handful or even a football stadium full of people. It is – it involves millions of people and is going to require a far more comprehensive strategy than a targeted approach for bin laden or a few of his associates.

http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/article/what-romney-said-abou...

Making it appear that Romney could not have cared less or thought it was a waste of money going after Bin Ladel, is twisting the truth and presenting a lie, something people enjoy doing to make themselves look right when they lack the backbone to speak the truth.

ICL writes "I do believe that

ICL writes "I do believe that credit needs to go to our men and women in the armed service and NOT Obama. He just happened to be the "OK" man when the opportunity to take out OBL arrived."

As a former service man I always recognized that the ultimate authority (and blame if need be)rested with our commander in chief, the President of The United States of America. If you think that it doesn't take courage and determination to make high risk and dangerous calls that have great potential to safeguard the freedom of the American people because you have a personal beef with the Commander, then my friend that is a sad commentary on your ability to be of service. In my circle we call this Principles before personality".

And a little adendum here for you. Great leaders and men of conviction always give credit where credit is due. Seal Team 6 has been recognized at every level from the President on down for their courage and dedication in carrying out this highly sucessful mission. But leaders make those decisions and leaders also don't simply wait for opportunities, they prepare for them.

Our military, lead by our Commander in Chief, was preapred that day. That really grates on the Presidents opposition, but then the old adage of the truth shall set you free(but first it will p**s you off) really has an application here.

Michelle, speaking in Iowa, said "look how many in Washington tried to get Barack to let the auto industry fail". Now the woman is not dumb, so therefore she was intentionally misleading her audience. She has to know that it was never the "auto industry" - but Chrysler and General Motors. Exaggerations, lies, misdirection.....there will be no end to this until the man is removed from office.
