Quit playing the race card

  • Follow Letters

Speaking as a black conservative, it is so sad when the “race card” is continually used by politicians and liberal voters to explain away the horrible record of President Obama. Yes, he was handed the gigantic problem of a very fragile economy, but he campaigned on the idea that he was up to the task of dealing with it.

Instead, he made matters worse by saddling the nation with a health-care overhaul that most Americans did not want, and topped it off with a trillion-dollar so-called “stimulus” package that has put this country further in debt than it has ever been – all the while hamstringing any real job recovery by throwing endless regulations at small businesses.

And the president did all this with Democratic control of both houses of Congress while blaming Republicans in the minority for hindering his plans!

These are not racist statements. They are factual statements of how things stand under Obama’s watch, and it is past time for this administration and its supporters to throw away the race card and own up to it.

Copperhead, supposed

Copperhead, supposed Christians would almost to a man(or woman in Jane's case) call me apostate in that I was raised in a Christian home.

I believe that my parents believed and certainly hold them no will for that. I also believe that with time, our God given intelligence and Free Will do lead us to Knowledge, only if it is sought. The intellectually lazy are certainly welcome to their mindless Ideology. Rooted in superstition and fairy tales, much of organized religion-not all-was and is design by puesdo religious politicians to strike fear and obedience into the hearts of mindless sheep. Organized religion has been in many cases, nothing but a social obedience social tool, telling folks not to trust their own God given consciences. I don't have to go to your church to be loved by your God. I can stay at home and be loved by mine.

That's America and good enough for me.! Ain't it grand?

Techfan-Since Obama has been president for three years has any one yet asked him about his statement that the US constitution is deeply flawed because it is prohibitive of federal power and not proscriptive and how that view would effect Supreme court nominations and view of the Supreme courts power of judicial review? What should the federal government be proscibed to do? It is not 1997 any more!

Carcraft writes"Retired Army- You called yourself apostate no one else needs to!"

Wrong again as usual. A great many others seem to have that and many other names for people like myself who can and do think for themselves. Fear motivated really. They don't trust their idea of God to smite down the non-believers and suppose they have that direct pipeline that tells them to do so. Those are the real crackpots and should be watched by all of us.

Those simply motivated by greed, simply need be regulated.

Already you see mature

Already you see mature successful african-americans wince at the the entitlement mentality that has been propagated by the Dem party. I think the african-amerian community will finally wake up and bite the hand that feeds them because it is oppressive. I think they may finally realize the Dixiecrats took a new strategy (since the racist couldn't defeat integration) to keep them down-duped. The Dems want generational entitlement dependent voters because it a sure vote. The real racist played them like a violin. Fortunately you can't keep a bright and vital community down forever-thank God.

I think the reason Obama

I think the reason Obama wasn't vetted is because as a blank slate people could draw their wishes in leader onto Obama, suave, intellectual, a heavy weight, mature, has the answers, will run the country well, etc., etc., etc. Fooled a bunch of people into thinking he was ready for prime time. Time and time again we see he is petty, intellectually dishonest and failing. It will be much harder for Obama this time which is why he is going for the Female vote. If Romney can succeed in portraying Obama as the ideologue he is Romney can easily win!

Retired Army, so you don't confused me with your heathen and assorted agnostic self, I just returned from worshiping this fine Easter morning and it was wonderful. Praised God among my other brothers and sisters who just happen to be a mix of African American, Caucasian and Middle Eastern and mix of all of the above. If you were raised in a Christian home, you should know our services don't start at 8:30 in the morning.

In some cases, but not all, and if our consciences are God given, then why in the world would we not trust what God lays on our minds? Evidently you were not taught what true Christianity is.

Retired Army- “The intellectually lazy are certainly welcome to their mindless Ideology. Please tell that to Detrick Bonheoffer who, after getting safely to the United States, left the shelter of America and went back to Germany to be with his flock and was martyred by Hitler. Please tell that to the countless Christians that have died by Hitler’s hand such as Corrie Ten Boom’s sister who died because they were caught hiding Jews.

What a zoo this turned out to

What a zoo this turned out to be. Cleave is a great guy, and I've heard him on the radio many times.

He presented his opinions about Obama's performance. Of course, it brought out the usual liberal apologists who can't stand people like Mr. Walker. And, if you notice, no one really disputed the truth of what Mr. Walker said. Instead, there was just the standard personal attacks on him. It was an attempt to avoid the issues and turn the discussion into a racial matter. Mr. Walker's letter had nothing to do with race, but focused on performance. Why bring up race -- unless you, in reality, are racist yourself.

This is the liberal way. When you can't avoid (or stomach) the truth, attack the character or motive of the person who said it. It happens daily here, and is so comical to read. People are so predictable.

I do hope that between now and November we can stop viewing the presidential candidates as of a particular race, religion, or creed, and please focus on the ISSUES. That's all Mr. Walker was trying to do. Your vain attempts to turn to the "race card" are nothing more than an admission that you can't handle the truth.

Thanks's Cleve. God bless!
