Labor numbers are fudged

  • Follow Letters

The Obama Labor Department announces that the jobless rate has fallen to 8.3 percent. If it seems too good to be true, it is!

Keep in mind that this is an election year, and keep in mind who is running for re-election and who controls the numbers we’re given. Many people in responsible positions disagree with those numbers and call them faked. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, for instance – by factoring in the number of jobless people who have just given up looking for work (1.2 million in one recent month alone, with perhaps a total of 3 million overall) – places the unemployment rate at 15 percent as of Feb. 16, not 8.3 percent!

The underemployed rate – people who have found either part-time work or work at lower pay and skill levels – is somewhere over 19 percent! Gallup polling also reinforces these higher numbers. So would you not think that in an election year the Obama administration is misrepresenting these numbers to make things look more rosy from the public perspective?

They are once again counting on fooling an uninformed public. The illusionist has cast his spell on a gullible audience that is hungry for some good news, whether fabricated or not.

If the economy is indeed improving, it is not because of the Obama administration’s policies, but regardless of them. They are destroyers of opportunity, not creators, and our standard of living and our country diminishes! The shredding of the U.S. Constitution continues. We have seen the inclination of Barack Obama toward dictatorial actions. The Chicago mob-like tactics, the arrogance, dishonesty and ineptitude are all there for public viewing, but it will be nothing compared to the tyranny we will experience in an Obama second term! Guaranteed!

This LTE sounds exactly like

This LTE sounds exactly like the 'kool aid' faux news is putting out. I don't mind people who cannot find ANYTHING good to say... I just wish they would keep it to themselves.

Mr. Smock(my God, has it been

Mr. Smock(my God, has it been 30 days already) claims"Many people in responsible positions disagree with those numbers and call them faked."

And then later in his monthly diatribe states"If the economy is indeed improving, it is not because of the Obama administration’s policies, but regardless of them."

Seems to me that Mr. Smock would like to have it both ways and still hate on our President.

The economy and job rate is faked and if it is improving it can't possibly be because of our President's leadership. Yeah, that's the ticket!

then just to wind things up he states "The shredding of the U.S. Constitution continues." Really? Which part" Why, I'll bet you can carry your gun and bible to church every Sunday and we can count on Mr. Smock to yammer away every 30 days with another unsubstantiated ad hominum attack upon the President of The United States Of America published free of charge. Just as in "Old times not forgotten, Look away, look away."

Ya just can't make this stuff up!

heh. the labor dept. been

heh. the labor dept. been using the U-3 as the "official" unemployment rate (instead of the broader U-5 you mention) since the Clinton administration. There's a conspiracy of half-truths from the government, Mr. Smock, but it's been in the works for awhile. The Obama administration has had nothing to do with your particular gripe, that I am aware of. Also, did you know that if all prisoners and jail inmates were included, the unemployment rate would be 21%? Holy moonbats!

Fellow thinkers, that's the way of the closed mind as you imply.
The ACLU ever is leading the way to more freedom for people. Yet, blow hards have the effrontery to deny that by reverse logic.
That writer probably approves of the real criminality of Cheney-Shrub's violations of FISA and approving torture, incluidng renditions but got away with that, because Democrats wouldn't vote for impeachement and expulsion from office and let justice triump at a trial!

I notice that the liberal

I notice that the liberal senators are going against Obama now..yep! It's an election year.

Bill Clinton again shows his dislike for Obama ..

Andrew Breitbart..What a tragedy. So young. We lost a great conservative voice. And to think he was once a liberal but didn't like the fact they were so hypocritical.

Just wait, the republicans are going to fix this problem in short order. Why Newt has said he would uh uh?? Ok forget Newt, why Mitt said only yesterday his uh uh Oh heck forget him too. Why Sanatorium has openly declared that after he fixes the abortion problems if there is time left over he will look into the problem, as long as its not on a sunday. And the cowboy will fix the problem after he shuts down the Federal highway department and clears out the defense department. Yeah our guys have a direct bead on the problem and will fix it the first month in office when they are elected.
