Obama treats vets shabbily

  • Follow Letters

President Obama should be given credit for his uncanny ability to be the most manipulative, conniving president that this country has ever seen.

He has totally ignored the veterans of our country up until the past few months. When doing battle with the Republicans over his jobs bill, he threatened to hold up our compensation checks. He even had the audacity to announce that he might be cutting military pay. As it is, he gutted our military – weakening our country’s standing in the world – then had the gall to throw us a bone by signing a bill that gives employers a break on taxes if they hire a vet, when no one is hiring.

Obama thinks we veterans are as naïve as the sheep who follow him, but his motives to court the veterans vote should be obvious to everyone. If he really cared about our military and its veterans, he would have supported our combat troops from the get-go. Instead, he showed his insincerity again regarding an American and former Marine – sentenced to death in Iran for allegedly being a CIA spy – by not demanding his immediate release.

This issue doesn’t seem to be of any urgency, but his administration is up in arms over four Marines urinating on a dead Taliban soldier and wants to throw the book at them. The act is disdainful at best, but it pales in comparison to not prosecuting the armed Black Panthers at a polling place.

As usual, Obama and his administration have a very strange sense of what is right and wrong. With Iran’s support, terrorists can cut the heads off Americans and kill us with roadside bombs – and we apologize.

Well done. I can't listen to the man without hearing his obvious attempts to pander, divide, and mislead. It worries me that he might actually believe he is an awesome president being held back from greatness by circumstance and Republicans.

“The Iranian regime has a history of falsely accusing people of being spies, of eliciting forced confessions, and of holding innocent Americans for political reasons,” National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said in a statement. “We call upon the Iranian government to grant the Swiss protecting power immediate access to Mr. Hekmati, grant Mr. Hekmati access to legal counsel, and release him without delay.”

And what do you call sending troops into conflict on false premises, with nothing to show for it but one more shaky Islamic republic? As I recall, that same previous administration also had oversight over the appalling conditions at Walter Reed.

Thanks Obama for looking out for the middle class. Freezing government civilian employees pay to 2010 levels for another year is proof your a man of integrity.

Funding for the VA has

Funding for the VA has increased under Obama. Also, Obama submitted a budget proposal in 2010 and 2011 that increased military pay by 1.4%.

Obama has also trusted the military to do things like go into Pakistan and shoot bin Laden in the face, and other missions. So, there's that.

Additionally, I just read an article this morning on yahoo about a Marine sergeant who led a squad that killed 24 unarmed Iraqis, 10 of which were women and children avoided serving any time.

Listen, I want Obama gone, because he's not good for the country- he's dangerous in a fiscal way, and a way that could detain American's. However he has not been negative in anyway towards the military or Vets. Let's be honest in our disagreement against Obama.

The article is not credible.
Unpublished

The article is not credible. As a (Ret) US Army senior NCO, my info seems to contradict this article including an increase in 2012 of my retirement and increased VA disability. Look at the end to the war in Iraq. (This saves American lives!!) What evidence is the article based on? What about accuracy; because, again credibility rears its ugly head. The article is found wanting from a true Veteran US citizen.

So now we know how to start a dis-information program at no cost, to support a political party. Just start publishing these types of letters with unsubstantiated and false information on a routine basis. I notice that Gregory has routinely published just the same diatribe over the last year. What he forgot to mention was the 3.9% COLA for retirees and the expansion of Agent orange coverage that has occured under President Obama. As to the former Marine in Iran, I am not so sure that the country has the forces necessary and trained to make war. As a veteran, the writer should be well aware that in any conflict, it is boots-on-the-ground that determines the outcome. When you start to couple the facts that we have many troops who have had multiple deployments with the lack of a sustaining Draft, it just might be the wrong time to start a new war. P.S. I haven't heard any current or former members of the JCS talk about going to war with Iran. In fact alll I have heard them talk about is giving our troops a break.

Obama has contempt and

Obama has contempt and disdain for the US military. Vets are not exempt from this feeling.

How did we get to this point America? A sitting President who hates America's greatness, thinks we are nothing special, hates America's mighty military power, hates capitalism and wants to reward idleness?

Who voted for this clown? Is ANYONE willing to step up now and admit it?

Heaven help America. It will take a miracle to turn her around.

Chillen, It doesn't do any good to tell people how "we know" obama dislikes our military, he doesn't even like America. He likes what America can give him, and he likes the power he has. I can hardly wait for him to be gone.

Tparty- Hear! Hear! I think someone mentioned this yesterday on a thread; STOP with the fabrications against Obama, it just works to his favor when they are exposed and the critics' points become moot.
Just stick to the facts, Lord knows there are plenty, and expose him based on his provable actions. (or lack thereof). There truly is a group of people who despise him just for the sake of despising him; and not for his policies and what he is doing/trying to do to our country.

jane18. Obama likes America

jane18. Obama likes America so much that he gave a whopping 1% of his over $1 million income to charity. President of the common man. President for the poor and under-privileged.

Yet he is unwilling to help them with his own money - just ours.

Chillen: From 2010- President

Chillen:

From 2010-

President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle paid nearly $1.8 million in federal taxes on adjusted gross income of over $5.5 million in 2009, and gave $329,100 to charity. Obama did not have to report $1.4 million he won for receiving the Nobel Peace Prize because he asked the Nobel Committee to give it directly to charity.

That is 32% paid into taxes, and 6% donated into charity. So it's not 1%. And it doesn't count the $1.4 million from the Nobel Prize.

Obama treats "life" in

Obama treats "life" in general shabily. He is the most anti-life president in American history. A man who does not respect innocent life cannot have respect for any other human, unless he can get something out of them. Then he will appoint you to higher office, and bow to your command.

Do we want a millionaire president who cannot figure how to lower his tax rate to what Buffet and other millionaires pay? Obama must not be as smart as some give him credit for.

@tparty. Defender of obama again, huh? You sure were quick with the stats.

Liberal chat rooms do prepare their posters well.

From Bloomberg - "Barack Obama and his wife Michelle gave $10,772 of the $1.2 million they earned from 2000 through 2004 to charities, or less than 1 percent" Losers.

Another case of Obama

Another case of Obama appeasing bad guys with bullets; he is so weak:

“US military raid in Somalia frees American, Dane”

“President Barack Obama authorized the mission by SEAL Team 6 two days earlier, deploying the same unit that killed Osama bin Laden last year. Minutes after the president gave his State of the Union address to Congress he was on the phone with the American's father to tell him his daughter was safe.”

@chillen. Yep, I voted for Obama over Cain/Palin and any reasonably rational intellect will vote for him again. Now, you put up a Huntsman or like minded candidate and all bets are off. But this 'clown show' called the republican primary has truly devolved into a race to the bottom.

President Obama has increased

President Obama has increased the VA budget every year. His first step involved appointing a four star general to head the VA. Bush on the other hand first appointed a lobbyist and then a career political hack to head the VA. It was a disaster.

I use the Augusta VA for all my medical needs. I thank the President, Secretary Shinsecki and all the great government employees at the local VA hospitals for a job well done.

Liberal chat rooms, Chillen?

Liberal chat rooms, Chillen? I wonder how big your tin foil hat is.

I just pointed out what I could find on the internet. I've seen the numbers you made about 1% on other sites, which are right wing blogs and what not. That number could be correct, but I'm too lazy to search for Obama's tax returns during those years. I'm just pointing out the other years and facts. Don't be upset about reality, and let's keep the crazy conspiracies down.
