The engineering was called the New World Order, or one-world government.
Some of its proponents were George H.W. Bush, Henry Kissinger and David Rockefeller. That New World Order is playing out under the new term of “global economy.” However, global economy is only one element of the New World Order.
One of the facets of the NWO was to virtually reduce state-of-the-art education to its lowest form for the public masses. The highest form of education would be consigned to those of the wealthy and powerful. No more teaching of critical thinking, arts, languages and the like that used to be fundamental to education. They needed followers, not thinkers.
The public masses are relegated to service jobs. Look at the curricula of the plethora of two-year schools that have cropped up in Augusta and the nation at large: Strayer University, Virginia College and Miller-Motte College are some. By no means is this to disparage the purpose of these colleges. Their purpose is to prepare the bulk of people to serve the upper classes working as dental hygienists, wash and cut hair, repair cars, work in hotels, etc. No more high-paying industrial jobs.
The protesters of Wall Street know what they are talking about when they speak of class warfare. Industrialism is all but a memory, having been replaced by a technical society, and there is no place for those who were of this generation.
Sadly, this lofty ideal is supported by many in Congress who want to cut funding for education. We will have no one to blame but ourselves for electing officials who vote on behalf of the wealthy and powerful.
