So now producing ID is OK?

  • Follow Letters

I read with interest the article in the Nov. 21 paper about the turkey giveaway (“Turkey giveaway requires ID”).

The article said an ID was required to receive a turkey, and there was not a word about anyone objecting to that. But ask people to produce an ID to vote, and all of a sudden it’s discrimination.

Great letter, Julie. It shows

Great letter, Julie. It shows the "selective indignation" of liberals. Reminds me of Michelle Bachman appearing the other night on Jimmy Fallon, and the band playing an instrumental version of "Lyin (filtered word) b(word) when she was walking on. Where is the liberal anger at this obvious insult to a woman? But, let the same thing happen to Michelle Obama or Hillary Clinton and that show would have been cancelled. Liberals...gotta love their "selective indignation."

Haki,can you go through life

Haki, can you go through life without I.D.? Next time you use you credit card, refuse to show valid I.D. and see where it gets you. Tell them you don't need I.D. to vote so,you should not be required to identify yourself for ANY reason. Walk into your bank and try to withdraw all funds from your account without I.D. and let us know how that works, please.

An ID is too much of a burden on the poor and minority groups to vote but no problem to get that turkey. Reckon there might be a payoff for those non-ID holders to vote the lefty ticket?

Georgia vote fraud tops 100,000

November 4, 2008

Election officials in Georgia are launching an all-out investigation into allegations of voter fraud that could involve over 100,000 people.[1]
Multiple Registrations

The investigation has come about due to a report by TV news stations in Atlanta, Orlando, Tampa, and Cincinnati who compared voter rolls in Georgia with those in Florida and Ohio. The investigative journalists found more than 100,000 names that appear to be registered in more than one state.[1]

Georgia’s master record of voters has 42,000 people on it who are also apparently registered in Florida, according to WSBTV.com. At least four instances of double voting have been uncovered already.[1]

Republican Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel says the lack of a federal database to track voter registration leaves "an extremely high potential" for voter fraud: "This is extraordinarily disturbing ... Does our system just trust that people won’t vote twice? From the federal level, yes pretty much."[1]

It is not unusual for polling

It is not unusual for polling precincts to have more votes counted than they have registered. It's hard to pin down to specifics because voting is done in secret and you have to dig very deep. If it doesn't affect the outcome of a race, most agencies don't bother. Until the time comes that every voter has to be verified, fraud will continue. It is no different than fraud perpetuated everyday in many oher transactions.
There are always those who will try to game the system, and when they are paid to do it, there are many more.

I do not know how we have

I do not know how we have allowed ourselves to be convinced that it is somehow oppressive or unjust to be asked to provide identification before being allowed to vote. I can't believe it's even an issue. Incredible! There is absolutely no reason to resist showing ID unless you have intent to commit voter fraud.....or have outstanding arrest warrants.......hmmmm, I think I understand the Democrat's position on this issue.

You ought to have to show ID

You ought to have to show ID to vote.Period. I'll do you one better. If you are on public assisitance you ought not be allowed to vote. If you don't pay income taxes you ought not be able to vote as well, excepting retirees who have paid into the system already. This would weed out those who vote for those who will give them goodies from the public trough.

Myfather 15: Did you intend

Myfather 15: Did you intend to say "illegals, when given amnesty and become citizens, vote Democrat" ? Or are you saying that illegals somehow are able to cast votes? If it is the latter, I would like some info on how they get registered, whose name they are voting under if they aren't, etc.

The real issue is that legal hispanics vote Democrat, and neither party has the cajones to offend them with immigration policy. Repubs want to woo them and Dems want to keep them.
