Uninformed or just naive?

  • Follow Letters

While you will get no argument from me on the sins of Wall Street – there are Wall Street bankers and investors who deserve to be in prison – many Occupy Wall Street protesters seem to be uninformed about capitalism.

If the United States had a true capitalist economy, government bailouts would never happen. In true capitalism, businesses sink or swim – no life jackets are available.

If OWS protesters are sincere in opposing crony capitalism, they should be in Lafayette Park protesting in front of the White House and marching on the Capitol.

If you have seen the violence in Oakland, Calif., you can see that there is more to this than opposition to Wall Street and capitalism. If some of these Oakland protesters think they live in a police state – as Moveon.org would like you to believe – then maybe they should move to North Korea, Cuba, Iran or Syria. How quickly they would want to return to the United States. And I have not seen any tanks arriving to disperse the protesters.

If the OWS protesters want income redistribution, start with the Hollywood crowd, professional athletes and Washington lobbyists. Then move on to Microsoft, Google and Apple – all of which made their wealth through capitalism and providing things the consumer wants.

But this does not fit the agenda of those pulling the strings. The puppetmasters know that most OWS protesters, besides being frustrated, are naïve, uninformed and perhaps brainwashed by recent college education.

George J. Weber

Unfortunately for us and our form of government, the numbers of the uniformed, naive and misinformed probably extend well beyond the camps of OWS protestors. For example, what portion of our chronologically adult population could provide an accurate definition of capitalism? of socialism? identify the disadvantages in each?

Last night 60 minutes had a great program about Jack Abramoff...He owned 100s of folks in congress...he said it is still going on...nothing has changed....he would promise big paying jobs to chief of staffs in politicians offices....they would do his bidding...if the elected official didn't play ball someone on his staff would play.....
Maybe OWS needs to also Occupy congress too.....he said some laws were intentionally worded to fool the American public....& it is still going on today....No one in congress...worker or elected official should get a lobbyist job for at least 10 years after serving...

I did hear something late

I did hear something late last night on the radio that was troubling about business and our economy. I didn't catch all of it so bear with me here and look it up on your own if you are interested. But this guy has a book out and he says various oil interests from speculators, to oil companies, to Mideast interests insure various stages of oil production.

But the problem is speculators can insure oil they don't own and that results in oil production being insured for SEVEN times its total value. These insurance guarantees are spread everywhere much like derivatives. If anything ever happens to seriously drive the price of oil down bigtime, the whole economy collapses ala the banking crisis. Thus, there are forces at work to prevent alternative energy research and atomic energy. Is that why the shale stuff is not being mined?

Those who write books such as

Those who write books such as Jack Abramoff are out to sell..I'm not sure how much to believe and how much he was using to show how extremely smart he is and to retain his style of living. And of course Diane Sawyer and ABC would have loved the fact that he identified with only Republicans.
I found him to be smug, self-righteous, and enjoying himself as if he was playing a part.. ugh

BTW Didn't Obama, after saying he wouldn't, place several lobbyists on his staff?

Economic equilibrium through

Economic equilibrium through fair play and ethical business practices is the goal, not wealth redistribution.

You all that are against these folks are just as "naïve, uninformed and perhaps brainwashed" as the OWS folks are.

Brad Owens said "Economic equilibrium through fair play and ethical business practices is the goal, not wealth redistribution."

What DO you call it, where do you find it, and who's in charge?

Then he said "You all that are against these folks are just as "naïve, uninformed and perhaps brainwashed" as the OWS folks are."

Not true. I'm pretty open minded until I've learned enough to form an well considered opinion. If I find my preconceived notions were incorrect, I get them out of the way.

Have you watched any of these protestors interviewed? Have you listened to what they say? Are you aware of the crime, filth, and personal injury they've caused. The tax money that has been wasted on them and their foolishness? Are you aware these things are planned and orchestrated by people who hate America?

There certainly is more the

There certainly is more the the OWS movement than Wall Street.

The protest organizers want socialism/marxism. Some of them even want communism.

Many of the individual protesters (useful idiots) just want your money. They want redistribution of wealth (marxism). Or they just want a free lunch or to be associated with a 1960-hippie era type protest.

Protesting about the banks is a total waste of time. They are probably sitting in the board rooms laughing at these misguided individuals, communists, freaks and law ignorers because they know that the govt will still give them the money they want.

Protest the Government. It is 99% of the problem with America.

Chillen said "Protesting about the banks is a total waste of time. They are probably sitting in the board rooms laughing at these misguided individuals, communists, freaks and law ignorers because they know that the govt will still give them the money they want."

Bankers are in business to make a profit. They can't make a profit by going to jail or paying big fines for breaking laws. There's always a crook around, but bankers are generally smart enough to live within the laws the government creates and enforces. There's that word again..... "Government."

I'm sure bankers were laughing at the naive, useful idiots who were the initial protestors. Now with the various criminals and thugs involved in the "protest" the humor will soon disappear.

As can be seen on this very board, some still haven't figured it out, or perhaps their agenda prevents them from admitting it.

Government is the problem, not the bankers. Not to say that bankers won't take advantage of a situation the government provides, but it's government that holds the key and the RESPONSIBILITY for preventing the problems in the first place.

Well, obviously given my last

Well, obviously given my last post I do, I assume you are talking about Soviet sympathizers in West, but I can't see a difference in the Tea Party folks being upset about taxes and these OWS folks being upset that the Wall Street crowd has robbed the same tax base.

In other words, I am not saying Tea Party folks are Soviet sympathizers but that you are wrong about OWS.

Am I right about what a "Useful Idiot" is? What do I win?

You're on the right track,

You're on the right track, though there is no necessary tie to the former Soviet Union, or anything else in particular.

A "useful idiot" it one who is duped into doing another's bidding while not knowing it and believing all the while they're doing something they thought of themselves. Having been to several Tea Party events, I've never seen a single person who didn't understand why they were there. They made their own signs, carried their own flags, but here's the key....they could well articulate their issues. They knew what they wanted. They could explain it. It made sense, even if you disagreed.

There is ample evidence these OWS protestors, by comparison, have no clue. Interviews have been broadcast and written about everywhere. If you haven't heard or seen them, you are not looking, or worse, hiding your eyes.

I've posted evidence in here about some of the people/groups behind the OWS movement. Didn't you see it? Have you looked for yourself, or are you more comfortable just denying it? Here's one...
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/van-jones-warns-america-hold-on-to-your-...
(I can't get this link to work. google "van jones hold on to your seats" and watch the video from last SEPTEMBER)

Exhibit a little intellectual curiosity for yourself. Google words like SEIU, ACORN, Van Jones, George Soros, labor unions, marxists, communists, and criminals one at a time along with "OWS" and see what you find and then pay attention with an open mind.

For those who still don't

For those who still don't understand that it's not "Wall Street" but rather "Government" most responsible for what's happened in the struggling economies around the world you really need look no further than what just happened at the G20.

@Harley, liberals will never

@Harley, liberals will never blame the govt. It is their Sugar Daddy. Their answer to everything. Their Robin Hood.

@brad. I've know about these protests coming for almost a year. How would I know this unless someone planned them?

Van Jones is definitely behind them. Soros is involved. So are the marxists & communists who run the unions. Remember, liberals are EXPERT community organizers - heck, we've got one in the White House!!!

Please don't close your eyes to the evil that lurks in the corner. It's there. And its surfacing.

Here are 3 video clips to help you out with who's behind the movement.

Best video explaining who is organizing. You must watch this one.

Lets review the latest news

Lets review the latest news about the OWS protesters.

1. They pushed an elderly woman down the stairs, sending her to the hospital.
2. There is a lice breakout in Seattle.
3. More rape accusations.
4. 20 arrested in Atlanta after clash with police.
5. Protester dies from drug overdose.
6. Occupy DC protesters block conservatives from leaving a conference.
7. Jesse Jackson compares occupy movement to civil rights movement. (Yes, I am serious, he did this)

And the mainstream media was concerned about the Tea Party protesters getting mad about excessive government spending. What a crock of crap. With media like that, our country is doomed.
