After these events there was the mesmerizing ballet Botanica by Momix, which sent me gingerly hopping curbs as I left the Imperial Theatre. And then Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, the Symphony Orchestra Augusta’s show of John Williams cinematic scores; and the Felice Brothers at Sky City (who admittedly were not officially part of Westobou, but were great to have in town).
All in all, I spent eight of 10 nights out in Augusta subjecting myself to performances and talks I never expected to have available to me upon my return to Augusta after being gone for the better part of 15 years.
To all involved with putting together the Westobou Festival this year, you have my continual gratitude for bringing to Augusta and its inhabitants such enriching performances and inspiring speakers. My hope is that events such as these will become a regular occurrence that can be welcomed by Augustans.
