Obama has nation on destructive path

  • Follow Letters

From the perspective of many patriotic Americans, Washington, D.C., looks like a vortex of greed, corruption and waste. Our tax money is the fuel that feeds and grows the system.

President Obama and his party are riding the current of our taxes, drunk by their spending spree but still crying for higher taxes. But the concentration of economic power in D.C. feeds their lust for more power and more spending.

All the spending and rising taxes stifle incentive and creativity. Look at the European Union, where government spending is at least 44 percent of gross domestic product. In 2008, the United States granted 92,000 new patents. The EU granted 59,000 -- and of those, nearly 13,000 listed Americans as the first applicant.

As government spending in the United States becomes a higher and higher percentage of GDP, American creativity and incentive will decline. Be assured, wards of the state do not create, invent and produce products that benefit the world.

Because Obama received a multicultural, morally relativistic education, he cannot relate to the fiscally conservative and independently minded American citizen. And we can't relate to a "king" who has no budget and no accountability.

Will the president totally destroy the economy and the prosperity of America before 2012?

Kathryn Lehn

"Overall government spending

"Overall government spending there makes up 44 percent of GDP; in the United States it is rising at 37 percent. The EU's overall unemployment rate for February stands at 10 percent (Latvia and Spain top the charts at 21.7 percent and 19 percent, respectively, while countries like Germany and the Netherlands are well below U.S. rates). What's strikingly different about Europe is its long-term jobless rate, which has hovered at about 60 percent for the last decade—a rate that signifies the perpetual wards of the state our long-term unemployed can become, not to mention the loss of business, private capital, and sheer drive. In this way the United States remains a standout: In 2008 the United States granted 92,000 new patents; the European Union, 59,000—and of those nearly 13,000 listed Americans as the first applicant." A day or so ago, on CNN,

A day or so ago, on CNN, Christiane Amanpour asked the mayor of NYC if he thought that what happened in Norway with an Islamist home grown terrorist could happen here. Rather than answer the question she asked, he went on and on about white supremacist groups and she never followed through...
Was this interview planned?

Ms. Lehn might have gotten

Ms. Lehn might have gotten some of her statistics from an article - after all, where do all of us get them from? I'm sure not one poster on here is gathering reams of govt data to present statistics to one another.

It's the meaning of her letter that is relevant. Mr. Hope & Change Community Organizer is running this nation into the ground. And I firmly believe it is intentional. History will not look back kindly on the first half african american President. Too bad. The dreams of Martin Luther King Jr. deserved better.

House of Representatives

House of Representatives start their five week vacation. It's good to know that jobs are the priority of republican house. It's even better they didn't care to close tax loop holes. The airline industry is going to convert up to $1.2 Billion in taxes into corporate income while also laying off 94,000 workers.... How's that trickle down economy working for you? But lets blame Obama for everything.

No, we are just sick of you

No, we are just sick of you lefties hijacking our local paper and acting like you live here. We are sick of you lefties posting full time in an attempt to make the American public believe that there are more of you than there really are. You are trying to make it seem that progressive/socialism is a mainstream thought. It's something that about 5% of America believes in but with the paid liberal bloggers out full time, they try & make it seem like its 50%. And its not. Not even close. In fact, this effort seems a bit....well, desperate.

Oh, and BTW. Facts are a problem of the left who are primarily ruled by emotion & fantasy.

Don't worry about Harry, he's totally losing it. His speech earlier today indicates a level of both incompetence and oddity.

Oh well, I guess it's normal for a man to miss his rose bushes & pomegranite trees. And its totally normal to speak about it on the floor of the Senate (NOT!). What a weird dude.

I can't wait to de-throne him in 2012. We can add his Senate Majority plaque to Pelosi's Speaker of the House plaque in the liberal hall of shame.

Live here, like in Augusta?

Live here, like in Augusta? Because there are people in Augusta who do not subscribe to the tea party. And just because those people do not subscribe to the tea party does not make them socialists. Tea party people don't even know what socialism is- that's why we laugh when we see signs like "Government, keep your hands off our medicaid!!"

What's adorable about the tea party: It's becoming clear they do not know what a democracy is, and how it works. Instead they act like terrorists, willing and wanting to the country to default and fail unless the majority conforms to their ideology. I cannot wait until 2012, when President Obama remains President, and the tea party folks lose everything they have gained. I'll save this message too- so I can bring it back with snarky comments like, "I told you so" and to remind you, the majority of American's do not subscribe to the tea party folks.

And you finished off with "Facts are a problem of the left who are primarily ruled by emotion & fantasy." when day after day, that is proven false. I consistently bring up history, and data to support facts, which are always ignored, because it does not fit the narrative of whatever closed minded, fear mongering thoughts of the right. Talk about a group of people who live in fantasy land.

beck....Very few teaparty members are on medicaid---many are on medicare which is mandatory & taken out of your soc.sec check----what some seem to gloss over is about 1200 a year goes to the medicare system whether it is used or not plus additional charges when it is used....& soc. sec would be on good footing if THE GOV. HAD LEFT IT ALONE......w/o dipping into the pile of $$$$-too much temptation.
