Quit scattering our money abroad

  • Follow Letters

There has been much written and much said about the present state of the economy. However, those who write often see the present status as being caused by the present Obama administration. Truth be told, those who are speaking out should revisit the past administration.

President Bush got the United States involved in a war in Iraq that cost billions to fight daily. He then allowed outsourcing to escalate, causing jobs to be sent overseas. Again, this caused a deep unemployment surge. President Obama inherited this mess, and Republicans sit back and watched simply because many Republicans are racially motivated because of their ideology.

I would like to offer a simple solution to our economic woes: Repeal laws allowing outsourcing, and end our military involvement in other countries. These two simple steps would create jobs and fuel the economy with billions of dollars. We can pay off our debt to China, and again Americans can rejoice and be happy. God bless America!

Joseph Diggs Sr.

Hey JOE, while you're blaming

Hey JOE, while you're blaming Bush for all our woes, remember a little thing called 9/11? Thousands of our people were murdered by terrorists. What exactly should we have done about that...chant? How about telling your president to get off the backs of corporations and lower corporate taxes, which are some of the highest in the world. Then you'll see the USA become the Mecca for companies from all over the world. BTW, the debt you've slightly mentioned will never be paid off as long as congress can use our money to buy votes. A balanced budget amendment is the only way to stop this, and the Democrat controlled senate has already vowed to stop such an amendment when it gets to them, and the Dem president said he would veto such a bill. Enough said?

Does the minimum wage of

Does the minimum wage of $7.25/hr have anything to do with teenage unemployment of 25.2%? I seriously doubt that outsourcing is the cause of 9.2% unemployment. High wages and isolationist policies lengthened the Great Depression just as they are lengthening the Great Recession. How are teens going to develop a work ethic when they are not worth $7.25/hr for a first job?

As soon as you bring race

As soon as you bring race into the discussion your credibility sinks to 0. Mr. Diggs, my wish is that you finally accept MLK's vision of a color blind society. Only then will you find solace.

Obama has seen parts of the

Obama has seen parts of the world that most of us have not. He absolutely believes in a global economy, and sharing the wealth to him also means sharing with other nations.
I sometimes wonder if Democrats ever listen to Obama talk or instead listen to the talking heads forever repeating the same talking points.

Why didn't obama stop the

Why didn't obama stop the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan? Instead he upped the ante by increasing the amount of troops and adding a third war, non-Congressionally approved Libya.

When I saw the title of this letter I was excited to read it. I thought it would be a non-partisan request to end the wars, end all foreign aid, end pay offs to other nations, close most of our useless foreign military bases. Basically keep OUR money at home for a few decades.

Instead it was just another Bush/Republican Basher.

Thank God for President
Unpublished

Thank God for President George W. Bush's "utter stupidity". Without him, massa obama can claim his righteous place in history as "the man who was not to blame for anything". Outsourcing, my "friends" began the first time an American set foot on another country's soil and paid for a service, any service. We forgave the Japanese and Germans for their "small transgressions" committed in the first to middle of last century. A small thing like a World War or two didn't deter America's great "guvmint" from propping up and promoting trade with sworn enemies. After the last "Great War", we (the guvmint) outsourced our everyday goods and wares to Japan and Germany. For you young lefties who weren't around at the time, ask your parents or grandparents where they got their transistor radios from. Toshiba, Samsung, Sanyo, Toyota, Mitsuibishi, all great "American" products. As for our debt, why don't you good lil komrades ask China, Japan, Korea, Saudia Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Russia, Germany, Brazil, Venezuala, France and others where "our" money is? Also, ask them who are fine "folk" doing what used to be done by REAL AMERICANS?

Poor, poor, Obama. Spent

Poor, poor, Obama. Spent millions so that he could show the world what a good president he would be and now he can't handle what he bought and paid for. Cry, cry, darling.... If he can't take the heat...then he should not be there.
