A person seeking quality learning is looking first and foremost for an institution that offers a wide range of learning facilities and contacts that enhance his or her abilities to work and learn. GHSU has a variety of expert faculty -- both clinical and biomedical, many of them world-renowned -- and of course it has top-notch professional leadership.
The periphery of Augusta offers very affordable neighborhoods. Within a 150-mile radius, depending on your entertainment preference, there are, to the west, Atlanta for cultural events; to the north, the mountains; to the east, the coast; and to the south, the Golden Isles and Florida. If you are a horse enthusiast, Aiken, S.C., offers a variety of events.
We have highly accomplished public schools, and a number of top-notch private schools. We are the golf capital of the world, and therefore have an abundance of private clubs and golf courses that are within reach of a GHSU employee.
Cultural events are listed in Augusta Magazine and Columbia County Magazine , published a year in advance, and The Augusta Chronicle lists activities every day. Augusta and Columbia County offer many places for children to learn, play and participate in sports. All the facilities are close to GHSU.
I hope Dr. Azziz has not insulted the staff and faculty at GHSU, and the entire medical and business community in Augusta, for implying that this might be an "uncool" city. Augusta is one of the cities in the nation that did not feel the recession as much as other cities. This is proof that we are very cool people living in this city!
