Both parties driving nation into ground

I have been following the political scenery since I was 14 (I am now retired from a career that spanned 30 years). Observing the two major parties, and the people who have an affinity toward one or the other, catches my interest.

It really is something to ponder when you remember how one party allowed the fiasco in the housing market with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- people buying homes that they couldn't afford -- though Congress made it so that unscrupulous people could take advantage of this oversight.

Then there's the "debt ceiling" debate that's going on, and one party that claims to be fiscally conservative, refusing to vote against subsidies such as ending the ethanol giveaway -- yet this party claims it wants to bring sound spending into the federal government.

The two parties are playing fast and furious with the citizenry of these United States. It's tantamount to doing to seemingly unsuspecting voters what a screwdriver does to a screw.
