Patriotism is spending money wisely

  • Follow Letters

In a recent speech, our fearless leader President Obama made it very clear that if we do not pay more taxes, we are not patriotic.

Let's take a look at his buddies in Big Labor who received my patriotic donations in the form of bailouts of their pension funds. That was along with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the mortgage companies. Oh, then there are the big donors to Obama's campaign chest -- mainly General Electric, who paid no patriotic taxes at all.

If the president wants us to be patriotic, then spend the money correctly, not just to pay off his buddies and friends who are not patriotic.

Members of Congress should be patriotic and spend my tax dollars as if they were their own, not ours.

Gerald Ford said, "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government that is big enough to take from you everything you have."

People, stand up and say to your senator and representative that they can have no more.

In this section of the paper are often printed the addresses and e-mails for our congressmen. Use them. I do.

Great points. I read a book

Great points.
I read a book by Neal Boortz, John Linder and Rob Woodall detailing tax reform that would eliminate a lot of that. If you're not familiar with the "fair tax" plan, I reccomend that you check into it.
Seems to be a viable solution to the problems that you have pointed out.
As myfather15 said:
"this is not just an Obama problem, or a democrat problem, its a political problem".
If GE can prosper without paying income taxes and government can survive without those taxes then I'd say that validates the fair tax. Do you agree? Has someone "hoisted themseleves on their own petard" ?
