Liberal policies keep minorities down

  • Follow Letters

After recently reading an article on slavery in the United States, I was struck by the similarities between the slavery of old and the effective re-implementation of the institution today.

Granted, the 13th Amendment to the Constitution ended the outright ownership of another human being in this country. But it did nothing to rein in the arrogance of the liberal ruling class who wish to "own" the votes and minds of minorities by telling them ad nauseum they cannot succeed in this society without their patriarchal protection.

This type of political slavery is a travesty inflicted upon a people who have already suffered enough indignities in this country.

Until minorities understand they are nothing more than chattel to the liberal Democratic Party, political slavery will continue to survive in America.

The difference now is that the plantation is the federal generational welfare system, and the plantation owners are the liberal Democratic Party.

My hope is that they and their leadership will awaken and throw off the political shackles placed upon them by guilt-ridden progressives, and realize they too can succeed in this country without the help of left-wing carpetbaggers who want to keep them on the plantation.

Liberals define compassion by how many people are on welfare. Conservatives define compassion by how many no longer need it.

William R. Davis

The chattel is YOU, Mr.

The chattel is YOU, Mr. Davis... chattel for the real ruling class that has you believe that you are one of them. or could be with more hard work... Gobbledygook, indeed... What, exactly, are the similarities, and from what article (I don't believe for a minute that you actually read an article on slavery) did you come up this nonsense. This sounds more like a regurgitation of Glen Beck... You should actually read some articles on slavery, to see the real similarities - the ones between the corporate world of today and the slave traders of yesteryear... Conservatives compassionate? Your letter just absolutely drips with it...

Conservatives in general pay

Conservatives in general pay more taxes, donate more to charity and offer a helping (but not enabling) hand in all surveys.

Conservatives belive that you help, not enable and that personal responsibility and acountibility far outweigh rewarding negative behavior with more money through social programs.

If liberals actually cared about others, they would stop keeping them under the control and in need of the government. Just as a parent who loves their child knows when it is time to let them go in order to learn, grow and take care of their selves, liberals need to learn that this will work for adults as well.

A prime example is that when the welfare benefits run out on an individual a large percentage find a job immediately thereafter. However, as long as benefits continue to be extended, amazingly enough a job can't be found.

Our government (taxpayers) should certainly help those who CAN'T help their selves such as the extreme elderly and handicapped (although many handicapped do more than perfectly health adults) and conservative belive this as well. What we shouldn't be doing though is making it easy for healthy Americans to not be productive citizens.

If you disagree with the following, you are a helpless liberal and are part of a major problem facing the U.S. Instead of helping the country by ensuring we have productive members of society you continue to believe it is better to take from acheivers to give to non-acheivers and to even give them more when they have more children which they couldn't afford to support prior to having them.

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the industrious out of it. You don’t multiply wealth by dividing it. Government cannot give anything to anybody that it doesn’t first take from somebody else. Whenever somebody receives something without working for it, somebody else has to work for it without receiving. The worst thing that can happen to a nation is for half of the people to get the idea they don’t have to work because somebody else will work for them, and the other half to get the idea that it does no good to work because they don’t get to enjoy the fruit of their labor.”

"Conservatives in general pay

"Conservatives in general pay more taxes"

I stopped reading there, because that is alright false. Red states take in more federal funds they put in.

And is this article writer serious? The democratic party today is like slave owners of the past? Really? Is that what the new talking points are, liberals are slave owners now instead of being nazi commie anti-American socialists?

Looks like I glanced at another sentence in Asitisinaug "although many handicapped do more than perfectly health adults". I don't think handicapped means what you think it means...

Such craziness out of this letter... I can't believe it's allowed. Makes sense though from AC. Many of my comments are removed because it doesn't toe the line, and come off as insulting. This letter writer is trying to do a comparison to the Democratic party and slave owners and gets away with it? Not long ago, a different poster said problems of the poor can fixed by forcing sterilization upon them.

If any of the parties are dangerous- it's the right wing GOP. Go look up watch Fascism is and see how in line that is with today's Republicans.

Disgusting letter.

"After recently reading an

"After recently reading an article on slavery in the United States, I was struck by the similarities between the slavery of old and the effective re-implementation of the institution today."

Oh, this is gonna be a good one.

"Granted, the 13th Amendment to the Constitution ended the outright ownership of another human being in this country. But it did nothing to rein in the arrogance of the liberal ruling class who wish to "own" the votes and minds of minorities by telling them ad nauseum they cannot succeed in this society without their patriarchal protection."

"Liberal ruling class". Is that why almost all large corporations and investment firms support Republican deregulation and delegislation efforts? Is that why Republicans are further reducing corporate taxes? Is that why the Koch Foundation is the biggest fundraiser for the Tea Party Movement?

"This type of political slavery is a travesty inflicted upon a people who have already suffered enough indignities in this country."

Slavery. Is there a Godwin's Law but for slavery instead of Adolf Hitler?

"Until minorities understand they are nothing more than chattel to the liberal Democratic Party, political slavery will continue to survive in America."

Saying "liberal Democratic Party" and acting like that's an insult is like saying "conservative Republican Party" and acting like that's a compliment. The Democrats are mostly liberal and the Republicans are mostly conservative. That's... sort of how the political parties are.

"The difference now is that the plantation is the federal generational welfare system, and the plantation owners are the liberal Democratic Party."

Now, here's where I actually might agree with you that we have fostered a culture where welfare is not viewed as a tool to success, but as success in and of itself. But why? What elements have conspired to create this culture? If we are to blame the Democrats for creating a lower-class society sustained by taxpayer dollars, shouldn't we also blame the Republicans for defunding education in urban areas and reducing programs, scholarships, and incentives for urban youth to succeed? Like it or not, it takes a village to raise a child, not corporations.

"My hope is that they and their leadership will awaken and throw off the political shackles placed upon them by guilt-ridden progressives, and realize they too can succeed in this country without the help of left-wing carpetbaggers who want to keep them on the plantation."

Oh gosh, this is so cute. "They, too, can succeed in this country." If you work hard enough, by golly, you might even get a house in your own separate neighborhood!

Did anyone watch the John

Did anyone watch the John Stossel special called "Freeloaders"? It will make your blood boil.

It was about all types of people who freeload off the govt. Millionaires like Bon Jovi who pay only $100/year property tax on his massive mansion because he "raises" honey bees. Some of the biggest offenders are big corporations. Like GE who pays no taxes at all - they are protected by this administration.

A big part of the show was the almost 2 1/2 BILLION dollars that has been given to black farmers. All they have to do to get the money is show up to a govt office, sign a form saying they were discriminated against and that they are farmers and they get the money.

Stossel interviewed a REAL black farmer and he gave him a list of people in his area that had gotten the money. More than half of them were not farmers. They lied and said they were. Turns out that to qualify for the money all you have to do is "say" you attempted to farm - even if it was in your back yard in your garden. The govt workers willingly helped them through the process to get the taxpayers money. They should be put in jail for fraud - the workers and the recipients.

Guess what the reparations lottery gave each one of them-----$50,000. Of your money.

Folks, we cannot survive this and all the other govt atrocities. Hit the re-boot button in November 2012. Elect someone who will fix all this nonsense. Elect someone who will make the hard choices and tell Americans that it is time they stand on their own two feet.

The gravy train will end - either by choice or by disaster (financial collapse). Your choice.

The site Beck gives show GA only getting $1.01 federal dollars back for each dollar paid but D.C. gets $5.55, appears that GA is getting the short end of the stick.

I missed the part about the amount red or blue states pay in taxes....

Blacks will always be subjugated as long as they worship jackson, sharpton, obama, farrakhan, wright, rangel, pelosi, reid, congressional black caucus, naacp, and aclu for starters. Beck, it's easy to throw up a statistic that is skewed in an attempt to make your point. The statistic for states is accurate, but doesn't represent individuals.

From the CBO, 2003, which is the latest I could find with the short amount of time I can devote to this site [have to make a living and still support the ones that don't work]:

Republican men pay 70% more than Democrate men in federal taxes
Republican women pay 53% more than Democrat women in federal taxes.

You can point to states if you want, but every red state has liberals, and every blue state has conservatives. It's the individual that actually pays the taxes.

Can't wait for your reply.

There are liberal people in red states, just like there are regressive's in blue states- but let's not pretend it's the liberals in red states taking in all the federal funds, and only conservatives in blue states that are paying into the system. There is nothing skewed about facts.

There are so many people that

There are so many people that stay on welfare because it is easy and they are not given an incentive to get a job or stop having babies they can't afford in the first place.

It has nothing to do with slavery - black / white / hispanic / whatever race - are all using welfare.

People are lazy and if they can get a HANDOUT that makes it so they do not have to work they are not going to try to work.

My mother worked full time and busted her tail to provide for my brother and me. Her sister was (still is over 30 years later) on welfare and made more money than my mother because of all the benefits of welfare. How can someone that has a full time job stuggle and welfare recipients sit back and just collect the money?

I know some people on welfare are trying to get out of it. But the government does not reward people for standing on their own two feet -they are taxed and taxed again - your paycheck is taxed, then you pay taxes on the things you buy, then you pay property tax ect....

The government needs to come up with a way to get people off welfare and make it a temporary means of getting by not a life long benefit.

And the people on welfare should want to get off of it.

Once again it is not anything to do with slavery - everyone has a choice they have to make the decision to better themselves- some people hit hard times but there are opportunities out there - they just have to take them.

Aything short of doing what you can for yourself to better yourself is just a cop out.

If you are firmly attached to

If you are firmly attached to the government teat the truth is the last thing you want to hear.

I do agree that ALL farm subsidies need to be done away with. In fact, I think ALL subsidies and welfare need to be done away with. Farm subsidies, corporate subsidies, and individual subsidies. That and a flat tax on every dollar that moves would cure a lot of problems. The only ones we should be taking care of are disabled persons. Anyone else who can't cut the mustard and compete in the real world should have to report to a WPA work camp where they will be assigned a job, a tent, and get three hots and a cot.

How much longer are we going to encourage young children to, at an early age, plan their futures with the certainty of a guaranteed welfare check, a Section 8 housing subsidy, and an EBT card? We force them to attend a school and at the same time provide them an incentive to not learn anything because they know they will be getting a check one way or another. Why would any young person want to work for a living when there is free money, free housing, and free food to be had for the asking? Duh!

It's time to end welfare as we know it and start teaching our kids that times are tough and they had better start working if they want to eat regularly. But it's up to you. My time left here is relatively short. If you like your children and America in general being a welfare society you've sure got a good start. Just one question. Who is going to pay for it when me and my generation are gone? I don't see many barn burners coming up behind us that will actually be paying taxes. I'd say the welfare table is going to get pretty lean one way or another. The only question is, is it going to drag the whole country down in the next 10 or 20 years or are we going to break the welfare chains now and have a new "working" generation in training? I am no longer worried about the middle class.....or the higher or lower classes. I am worried that there isn't enough WORKING class no matter their income level.
