Can certain drugs weaken your bones?

  • Follow Letters

Those medicating for osteoporosis should be aware that the Food and Drug Administration is studying a possibly causative link between long-term use of bisphosphonates such as Fosamax, Actonel, Boniva and their generic equivalents, and complete breaks of the thigh bone. Such a break can be life-threatening.

My wife had been so treated with bisphosphonates for 13 years, and last year snapped a thigh bone in two in a fall from a standing position onto a wood floor. The thigh bone is the largest and ordinarily one of the strongest in the body.

My wife and I urge those similarly being treated for osteoporosis to consult their doctors to determine whether continuing lifetime use is wise, or whether some time cap should be considered. What is ironic is that the medication is intended to reduce the risk of fractures, not increase it.

It's because there's big

It's because there's big money in the bone business. It's possible for those meds to also make holes in your stomach. You can trust the FDA about as much as you can trust your local drug dealer.

Five second muscle testing

Five second muscle testing will tell you if a drug is good for your body or not. Bones get weak from lack of use and if they had needed a drug to be strong God would have already put that in the body. Follow the money and all truth will come to light about health. God never intended for it to be expensive for you to be healthy. You need water, exercise, sunshine(without sunscreen), low stress, good food and most of your aliments will go away. Also oil pulling will fix most of the left-over pains.

Mr. Reilly, I was so touched

Mr. Reilly, I was so touched by your letter and so sorry for the pain, suffering and horror of your wife and family's future. I've read of this injury before. No doctor should prescribe this drug more than five years and you have a really big lawsuit but that will provide little relief. People's jaws have also disintegrated from these drugs. I have been fighting painful side effects for 3 years after just two month's of treatment. I was lucky to recognize it so fast. I believe my mom lost her will to live and died from the pain this drug inflicts to those allergic and those given the drug for way too long. Yes, it builds bone; but it prevents the natural breakdown and replacement of old bone and you end up with a brittle dead stick of a bone. What a awful tragedy for your family! My deepest sympathies to you. Everybody, please go to ratemyrx.com before taking any drug and consider natural remedies first!

You nailed it Lou. The alternative doctors were giving out the warning even before it hit the market but truth doesn't matter if there is a dollar to be made. The greatest protection most people can have is a subscription to the alternatives newsletter by Dr. David Williams.
