Why is the president speaking up now?

  • Follow Letters

I find it pathetic that our President Obama chose the memorial service in Tuscon to finally speak out regarding the vitriolic speech in our country and to ask for civility. Was he not on this planet for the two-plus years when all we heard from the liberal Democrats and the liberal mainstream media was the horrible bashing of President George W. Bush? You all heard it, I'm sure. I don't have to go into the disgusting things that were said about President Bush.

It didn't matter to Obama then what was said and what the political climate was. Had he spoken up much sooner, he probably would have amassed millions of conservative votes.

I did not at the time of his campaigning, and still do not, agree with any of his policies. However, I would have truly admired him for trying to change the climate then. Maybe he spoke up now because 2012 isn't that far away.

Everyone can decide if they trust his words. When in doubt just pray that all truth be revealed and it usually will happen.

The event in Tucson was not a memorial service at all, it was a pep rally for Obama's 2012 campaign. He could have showed a little class and asked the raucous students to tone it down a little out of respect for the victims, but he chose not to. As far as the bashing of President Bush, he continually cried over and over that everything was Bush's fault. In 2012, he is going to have to run on his record, which is pretty dismal.

HAKI, according to the polls, it gives most of us indigestion. Yup, more "change" coming in 2012.

Here in the Atlanta area, a local paper runs a "truth meter" during the week. Unfortunately, this paper leans heavily to the left but occasionally uses obama's statements. They generally give him a pass and conservatives a hard time. I'm of the opinion, if barry runs his mouth, run for cover.

With all the bail-out debt

With all the bail-out debt and Obamacare debt, it appears that this president is trying to reduce the American people to impoverished and a few wealthy. I personally could not afford to vote for this president in 2012 no matter what he says or does!

Obama & his pals saw the bump

Obama & his pals saw the bump in polls that Bush got following 9-11. They though this might help them. Lord knows they need it.

Obama is attempting a "move to the middle". Folks, DO NOT FALL FOR IT! He is still a socialist. He only wants to be re-elected in 2012 & then he will resume his govt takeover. Do not be fooled. His brand of politics is not good for America. Thankfully American's realized it and voted his pals out in November. We must finish the job in 2012.

Obama has not changed. The

Obama has not changed. The 2010 election forced him to become a wolf in sheep's clothing to have any chance of being re-elected. A leopard cannot change his spots. If we fall for this we will deserve what we get. Watch closely for the next two years. His actions will prove that he is no Bill Clinton. Politics wise, and "income redistribution" wise, Obama is still Pelosi in drag. He will still be trying to ram his agenda down our throats by using executive orders to the government agencies which are run by his left wing appointees, all while smiling on the TV and talking "comprimise", "negotiation", and "civility". Don't fall for the "new" Obama. It's just eyewash for the Independent voters he needs to get re-elected. Ignore his words and watch his actions.

obama is a coward and his minions have no character. To "pass" unconstitutional legislation, with only his fawns present, is conspiracy and treason. Liberals, a warning; you overestimated your power and underestimated the good decent people who are going to show y'all the door.

Apparently the writer of this LTE and several commentors have forgotten the Bush Admin's rhetoric of being "unpatriotic" for disagreeing with the president.

Chic, please remember the

Chic, please remember the context. It's the most important fact to know and understand in most any circumstance.

When you refer to President Bush and how it was "unpatriotic" to disagree with him, the context was politicians and celebrities dissing him and America while overseas.

Remember Dixie chicks in England? Pelosi visiting Syrian Pres Assad? Any Dem senator or congressman visiting Euro?

There's been an unwrittten rule that politics stops at water's edge. Much like former Presidents keep out of their successor's business. Of course, that one is only followed by GW, not Clinton or Carter.

Now, however, not only are critics of Obama unpatriotic, they're labeled RACISTS as well. How's that change working for you?
