Liberals play muddled blame game

  • Follow Letters

I happened to be in a laundromat a couple of weeks ago, and a stranger walked up to me and informed me Sarah Palin is using crystal meth. I figured he was a guest columnist for The New York Times, slumming on his day off.

More recently, in a similarly intelligent display of crackerjack investigative reporting, MSNBC's ace pundit Chris Matthews aired clips of Sarah Palin shooting a caribou -- he called it a moose -- and stated the former Alaska governor is responsible for the Tucson killings, and should apologize.

I suppose if a tsunami hits Japan tomorrow, it naturally will be Palin's fault. "Sarah Palin has angered the sea gods!"

Certain media and political elites also are suggesting that lawmakers should violate the First Amendment and pass laws to curtail free speech in political discourse -- that this will somehow prevent future instances of madmen obtaining weapons and embarking on murderous rampages.

I wonder if the finger-pointers realize if these hypothetical laws pass, they will no longer be able to make negative comments about Palin, Rep. Michele Bachmann, House Speaker John Boehner, et al.

And these are the same people who call the former Alaska governor "stupid" and "a whack job."

Maybe they've been talking to the laundromat guy.

It is so ignorant to call
Unpublished

It is so ignorant to call matters one doesn't like socialistic or Marxist!Stick to the facts at hand. Is the proposal bad in itself?
I'm no Marxist but a Hamiltonian-Jeffersonian- a strong central government that enhances our liberties and promotes the general welfare.
No government take-over of health care happened. We've enhanced the regulated [ like red lights] free market [yes, free people doing their business] with the health care bill, which enhances the profits of the insurance business[ And Medicare for all would take them away, producing less costly system,].
Stop that colossal lie!

Gov.Palin lies about death panels. People love to lie about the president. He is a Hawaian-born, Christian, pragmatic liberal, endeavoring to improve our beloved land.

Pres. Reagan compromised with the Democrats and raised taxes seven times and was for the EIFC[ a Republi-can idea].

Pres. Bush did not plan 9/II but did he and Sec'y. Rice fail to read the report that such could possibly happened is a legitmate question.

I abjure any demagoguery on any front! Most incendiary rhetoric comes from the right nowadays.

Cute writing, but more

Cute writing, but more muddle. The issue is about leaders taking responsibility for their fringe elements. As a novice leader who appeals primarily to the fringe, Palin has behaved in a way that concerned many people for the past two years. Now, something has happened in a place she targeted. Connected or not, it's all fun and games until somebody gets shot in the head. Leaders should think before they open their mouths.

Palin is probably responsible

Palin is probably responsible for the gang related killings in our area.
I'll bet she has a map showing Richmond County with an X drawn on it.

1) Rosie O'Donnell is one of

1) Rosie O'Donnell is one of the "Do as I say, not as I do" liberal crowd. Infamous for low balling Tom Selleck over his pro gun stance/ advertising work, her body guard was arrested on a gun charge.

2) User 420, I'll believe you as soon as you renounce drug use because of the THOUSANDS of people killed in trafficking each year, innocent and not.

You show no remorse for those deaths involved in illegal activites that you support with your admitted use, yet feel compelled to rail against free speech.

griggsy, you said >> "I'm

griggsy, you said >> "I'm no Marxist but a Hamiltonian-Jeffersonian- a strong central government that enhances our liberties and promotes the general welfare."

"Hamilton sought a strong central government acting in the interests of commerce and industry. He brought to public life a love of efficiency, order and organization"

"Jefferson advocated a decentralized agrarian republic. He recognized the value of a strong central government in foreign relations, but he did not want it strong in other respects. Hamilton's great aim was more efficient organization, whereas Jefferson once said "I am not a friend to a very energetic government." Hamilton feared anarchy and thought in terms of order; Jefferson feared tyranny and thought in terms of freedom. "

"Hamilton headed the Federalists who favored a strong central government, while Jefferson was the leader of the Jeffersonian-Republicans, those favoring a diffusion of power."

Maybe I missed something in your post. Hamilton and Jefferson did not agree on much. Jefferson favored a weak central govt and strong state govts, with the states acting to counter any "tyranny" by the federal govt.

After reading your post on another thread, I doubt you are a believer in either man's beliefs. Are you trying to fool someone?
