Left should tone down hateful rhetoric

  • Follow Letters

The tragic events of Saturday in Tuscon, Ariz., have brought about comments from the left that really go beyond any sense of reason or civility that they wish those on the right to have to live by.

Have any leftists considered wrong similar language by those on the left? How about those on the left who called for the death of President Bush? What about the rhetoric of the likes of Cindy Sheehan, Chris Matthews and others toward many on the right? Is that rhetoric to stop? Is it wrong? I doubt that in their mind it is.

In reality, the rhetoric of Tea Party activists, Rush Limbaugh and others has not been a call to violence; it's been a call to change government. That's not hate and it's not wrong -- it's what our Founders intended when they established the right to free speech!

It's the left that must tone down its rhetoric!

I totally agree. It was less than 30 minutes after the shooting in Arizona that people on the left began trying to assign blame without a shred of evidence that the lunatic responsible had any connection whatsoever with ANY political party. They classify "hateful rhetoric" as any opinion that differs from theirs.

Indeed. Remember, please,

Indeed. Remember, please, however, that the right has accused Obama of being an imposter really born in Kenya, has claimed that he is a Muslim, has accused the Dems of putting up death panels, has recommended "second amendment solutions" to Democratic election victories, and so forth. These claims are entirely irresponsible and absurd. If you guys can't take a fight, don't start one. This does not excuse over the top rhetoric from the left, far from it, but enough is enough. Everybody needs to calm down, and this letter doesn't help.

RHETOR, puleeeeze...when Bush
Unpublished

RHETOR, puleeeeze...when Bush was in office, they accused him of everything from stupidity to torture endorsement. He couldn't reach down to scratch himself without criticism. It goes with the territory. As for Obama's American birth, Hawaii could put an end to this by releasing his birth records. They won't. Ever wonder why? As for election victories, I've sure heard plenty of liberals whining about election fraud by Republicans, especially after the most recent "shellacking" they just took.

Not surprising that we are all waisting breath blaming rhetoric and "mean words" for this murderous rampage. Face it, we are all responsible for our own actions. Just because you hear things that upset you or get you worked up does not mean you have to act foolishly or violently. You should know how to control your emotions and maintain a rational and clear head at all times. Our inability to do that is no one's fault but our own.

The left don't just talk; they do, or is abortion done without hate. By the way, how many even know why we have a second amendment and why it is so important? People are afraid to even say why we have it because the "why" would be considered promoting violence.

The difference is the left

The difference is the left attacks folks personally, falsley blames and clearly lies (as you can see from this event). Remember folks, this ALL started when Bush was President. Who was the mainstream media attacking? Who was the left vilifying? Who did the left relentlessly go after day after day after day?

The right criticizes policies that result in too much spending and that take away our freedoms. That then results in being called a tea bag, a right wing extremist, trigger happy, you name it. You also get blamed for a nutcase killing people. You get called a racist, a bigot.

Big difference between the two groups. Clearly.

What are you saying, that you

What are you saying, that you like Rush's increasingly blatant racism and incessant anal imagery, and you don't think there's anything wrong with it? If you think the vote should only belong to white landowners, have the courage to say so.

It's no wonder why some people are inclined to say "Disgusta" when they refer to the heart of the CSRA, and that's too bad, because it would be a much nicer place without the daily doses of the kind of poison you're hooked on.

jon lester, I hate to break it to you but there are far more Rush fans than just here in "disgusta". He is a national success and has been for many years.

Please provide us with a concrete and blatant example of Rush's racism. Audio clips or quotes will do just fine.

Saltsman is under fire for mailing Republican Party members a controversial CD for Christmas featuring a song titled "Barack the Magic Negro."

Rather than apologize, the candidate for Republican National Committee chairman defended the tasteless gift Friday, calling it merely satire.

The Obama song was first played on conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh's radio show in 2007.

Talk radio cannot even come close to the bile spewed by hip-hop 'artists'. I don't know which is listened to more, but judging by the loud booms I hear coming from car speakers I would say Hip-Hop.

"Barack the Magic Negro" was what Al Sharpton called Obama during the presidential campaign. The song was a parody of that. But I don't mean to let facts get in the way of the "Rush Limbaugh is a hate-spewing racist" meme you libs love.

Exactly correct JM88, unfortunately BLUECOLLARBULLY and the like will ignore the facts and continue to claim racism pretending they have no idea what the reference was about. It was a hilarious parody of Sharpton. Rush has had vast tons of fun at the expense of the poverty pimps known as Sharpton and Jackson.

JON LESTER, have you heard the bile spewed by Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman? Makes Limbaugh sound tame. And DADE, why aren't you just as outraged by the Black Panther leader Malik Shabazz and his call for blacks in America to "kill white babies?" I haven't heard a word about that from any liberals. Hypocrites!

Look BOTH SIDES have said there fair share of hate rhetoric! The right isn't better than the left and the left isn't better than the right. Most of these replies here show that. We're all guilty! For those of you saying the left is the worst trust me...the right has just as much hate filled rhetoric as the left. Neither side are saints!

bluecollar (union representative I'm sure). jm88 addressed the jingle you tried to use. The driving miss nancy was not racist. A liberal (socialist) applied for a position that included a car & a driver and didn't get it and Rush chuckled and said we'll, he can always drive Nancy around. Racist? Hardly. Nice try. No proof yet. Next.

Yes, they are filled with hate and violence. But, they get a pass. They never get blamed for anything.

But, speak out against the community organizers agenda & actions and YOU are racist and YOU are filled with hate and YOU are filled with violence.

It is nauseating.
