Muslims noted for promoting peace

  • Follow Letters

Thank you for providing an open forum in your newspaper. We need the dialogue among us to understand each other for the sake of peace, harmony and civility.

God has made it incumbent upon us to respect each other and love each other. This is from the teachings of Abraham, who was the initiator of the major religions of the world: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

We must not trample these fine Abrahamic principles of humanity due to politics, arrogance and ego. The three great messengers and prophets, Moses, Jesus and Mohammad, taught the worship of the one-and-only God and the dignity of human beings.

I have come across many editorials and letters in your newspaper critical of Islam and Muslims. This is an unfortunate development created by misinformation, propaganda and insinuation by the media. We must be thoughtful in our evaluation of the information supplied to us.

For example, the media do not report that there are women's rights in Muslim countries. In the mid 1990s, there were three elected women prime ministers from Muslim countries: Bangladesh, Pakistan and Turkey. We have never elected a woman president in this country.

Muslims are also for peace. In 2005 and 2006, Muslims won the Noble Peace Prize -- the first for the reduction of nuclear arms, and the second for facilitating micro-loans for eliminating poverty and hunger.

I. A. Jilani

Martinez

I.A., when we see stories of

I.A., when we see stories of Islamic women setting off bombs on themselves and killing dozens at an aid station providing food for war refugees, and not one single Islamic imam denouncing such butchery, it tends to make us a little jaded. Sorry, but we don't see Islam as a faith of peace, understanding, and acceptance of others.

Obama won a Nobel Peace Prize too. That should tell you all you need to know about the credibility of that award.

>>>"The three great messengers and prophets, Moses, Jesus and Mohammad, taught the worship of the one-and-only God and the dignity of human beings."<<<

Christians see Jesus as much more than messenger and prophet and therein lies the problem with your statment. We Christians place Jesus in a place of much higher esteem and honor.

QUR'AN [9.29] Fight those who

QUR'AN [9.29] Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

KORAN [4.34] Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.

I.A., I see that you were working this same line back in 2006. I'll believe Islam is a religion of peace as soon as I see pigs fly. Until then, if you can't control the radicals, we'll keep killing them.

Nobel Peace Prize? Braw haw

Nobel Peace Prize? Braw haw haw!... Al Gore won a Nobel Peace Prize for promoting a theory that has been shot full of holes (he claims the oceans will rise, and just bought a mansion on the beach), Obama won the prize for making promises that he STILL hasn't kept, and Arafat won the prize for killing Jews.

Real peaceful bunch.

usapatriot......Stop using

usapatriot......Stop using actual facts. It infuriates the left. Next you'll be telling us that profiling actually works.

Before the day ends, you will be told that your Quran quotes were taken out of context, but no context will be provided that make the statements any less brutal. Also someone will try to quote the bible in an attempt to make the quran quotes seem less brutal.......and one does not negate the other......but they will try!

I will see Islam as a

I will see Islam as a religion of peace when the people of that religion start cleaning up their own instead of dancing in the streets whenever a major terrorist attack is accomplished.

It is hard to believe anything in your letter when your own Holy Book states that you can lie to your enemies to save your own skin. If you believe that Jesus was a great prophet then follow His example. He told the truth even when faced with death.

The prophet of Islam, Mohammad started wars and used his Mosques as storage facilities for weapons of war and staging areas to mount attacks. Conversion by force is no victory at all.

If you want us to believe you at all start turning in those within the Muslim religion that are active fundraisers and planners of terrorist attacks by the fundamentalists of your religion. Publicly protest their cowardly acts.

It is easy to talk about the good in anything. It is much much harder to recognize, denounce and stop the bad elements. Is the letter writer one who takes the easy way out?

I take this article as just

I take this article as just one more blast of smoke from a muslim. To really know a people, listen to what they say, but watch carefully what they do. By their actions you will know what is in their hearts. We have seen the Muslim internal discord, Sunis and Shiites trying to subject each other within their own religion. It appears to me that the Muslim religion is one of subjugation to one way of thinking ONLY. Of course, there will be peace, but only when there is no one left to subjugate. By their ACTIONS you will know them.

I don't know why Muslims keep

I don't know why Muslims keep repeating the same lie. Don't they understand?

Dani is correct. Christians and Muslims DO NOT worship the same God. Christians worship Christ as God Incarnate. Muslims respect Jesus as a holy man & prophet, but NOT as God. To worship Christ as God is blasphemy for any Muslim, and could get you beheaded in some nations today.

Yes, we all need to live together in peace and harmony. But, that does not mean we sacrifice the truth for a lie. Christianity and Islam are not the same, and disagree about the most important, foundational principles of their respective faiths. Muslims need to admit that important difference and stop trying to sound so politically correct about it.

The Quran (written 600 years after the fact) also states that Christ was not crucified. This belief is very difficult to defend because contemporary Roman, Greek, and Jewish historians all verify Christ's death on the cross, as does the Bible. Never hear a Muslim mention that very clear historical contradiction that their holy book teaches.

I thank Mr. Jilani for his letter. There are many peaceful Muslims and many of those are American allies. When I was in the Army my well being depended on many of them. Most Muslims are as anti Al Qaeda as most of us are.

Did you ever notice that when

Did you ever notice that when the “Heat is on” and the opposition is catching onto your end game; then, the rascals preach, “Peace, Harmony, and Civility”. And, we must “Respect and Love each Other”. Do you remember when Hitler in Nazi Germany was wooing the world? Same basic rhetoric, we are your brothers ... Muslims are always our loving friends until they get a knife at our throats. Remember 9/11 and the World Trade Center. An eye for an eye, and a head for a tooth ...

"Now go and smite Amalek, and

"Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and [donkey]."--Samuel 15:3 KJV
"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword." Matthew 10:34
Christianity is not a religion of war but of peace; all the same, it is possible to quote the Bible out of context to give a false impression. Much the same, in my opinion, was done in the post above with the Koran.

I. A. Jilani, you will find

I. A. Jilani, you will find us more supporting of your "peaceful" religion when your brothers, sister, cousins, fathers, etc stop trying to BLOW US UP, SHOOT US and KILL US in the name of islam & allah.

True, not all muslims are terrorists but 99.9% of terrorists are muslim. Noodle that one for a while.

Until then, sorry, I'm not buying the "religion of peace" baloney.

P.S. You attack the Chronicle for their stance but you do not even mention the fact that you disagree with the muslim terrorists and their actions. Gee, I wonder why? THAT is the problem, you supposed "peaceful" muslims are not helping out with the problem. You just want tolerance from us. When YOU start putting in the effort and making a difference then we will start being more tolerant.

c&p from another day:
"It's THEIR fault.. WE did not DO anything to CAUSE these people to hate us.. Limbo, Beck and Faux news by-line... unthinking minds can be easily manipulated to believe all sorts of propaganda and lies when they 'WANT' to hear it. The slothfulness of the non-thinkers in allowing 'others' to determine their 'outlook' will remain the predominate problem in America. The AC and Mr. Ryan being a prime example of this phenomena."

Majority of these commenters are sheeple and do not think for themselves. They will say they do, but by their comments they do not. They let the MEDIA and ENTERTAINMENT (both with demonic orgins) dictate the way they think. . . .which is the plan.

"If you are looking for the answer, then you gotta ask the questions"

WAKE UP PEOPLE! Build a relationship with God while we still can.

Question: How many Muslims are there?
Answer: WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY more than the hand full that are probably "mind-controlled" (yea, its out there. . . . do some research and read some books) to commit mass murders in the name of Islam. . . .

Thus, media manipulation. Think man think!

Gee, its funny to only

Gee, its funny to only remember last week, but and what has happened in the last 200 years. "Christian" Americans slaughtered thousands of native Americans, because they were different and they deem that this was their land by right although the native were here first. I guess that was done in peace, right? A generation of newly freed slaves, were disenfranchised by the same government whose heralding motto was "All men are created equal", but yet there were seperated in their own society. Peace and unity, right, "Christians"? Get off your high horses people, American has been kind to some, but brutal to others, just like Muslims, dont think that just because some psychopathic extremist wants to bomb everyone who doesnt believe in his religion , makes the Americans who slughtered, native America, and killed black Americans for no reason, any different. Murderers are murderers, regardless of religion.
