Wrest freedoms back from politicians

  • Follow Letters

We are blessed to wake up in a country that is free. However, we have allowed politicians to take away our American spirit and our freedom.

The president's job is to defend this country and protect our people -- period! Yet, every day he is taking over businesses, announcing new ways of spending one person's hard-earned money to give to someone else, and pitting one group against another.

Congress could stop it. Their job is to make laws to protect us, keep us free and to keep this country financially sound. Instead, they are caving in to lobbyists or their own party's whims to get "the vote."

Look in the mirror! We as individuals are at fault. We have allowed this. Freebies are not free; they come at the cost of sweat from someone else. Our freedom comes from sacrifices made by our military and their families.

We are "We the People." Will we continue down the same old road, or will we take charge of our lives?

The liberal left ruled

The liberal left ruled congress for forty years before angering the public enough to get replaced. The Repubs ruled for twelve years before getting fired for the same reason. Now the socialist Dems have angered the public after abusing them for only four years.
This election will carry many constitutionalists into office, at last. In two years, we can decide whether to increase the number of constitutionalists or throw ourselves into Islam or socialism or one of the other large lifestyles that limit our liberties and responsibilities.
The young and the irresponsible will follow the sparkley signs and tricky dialog of the current administration. It's up to thinking adults to save this country.

I think the AC might have a

I think the AC might have a streak of misogyny given the quality of ideas they publish from that population. What is the point of this except to activate the fears and disturbances of other, like minded, individuals? The minute anyone would begin to process solutions that address these frustrations, the ire will evaporate into the complexity of the decisions required to satisfy the represented interests.

Interesting letter, but I ask

Interesting letter, but I ask only one question: If there are no jobs and all of you are against "hand-outs" and plan to cease them, where will people get their money from? Economic Darwinism will not work because it will lead to an actual revolution that will bring true socialism......

There is only one answer.

There is only one answer. More Jobs. Washington must, and should have already, put more focus on encouraging job creation in the private sector.

Wonderful letter Joy.

Wonderful letter Joy. Hopefully today voter's choices slow this administrations insane actions down to a managable level until we can get rid of it in 2012.

Great link Chillen. I hope that you don't mind my sending it to everybody in my address book.

It has been shown that many

It has been shown that many people will remain on unemployment until all the benefits run out, then go look for a job. The system is being used and abused. I stayed on unemployment until I found a job, which was months before my benefits ran out. Maybe I was a lucky one?

Now SRS will be laying off 1600 employees who were hired from stimulus money. Is it a coincidence this was announced right before elections? SRS stated "these were never meant to be permanent jobs". Is the rest of the country going to see a downturn because the stimulus money ran out? How bad will unemployment get? How convenient that there will most likely be a Republican ran government when all the money for jobs from the stimulus runs out.

onlysane1left. I think/hope

onlysane1left. I think/hope that people will go back to the days of relying on friends and family when in need. Why should a complete stranger be literally forced to support someone they don't know?

Years ago, folks moved in with their parents or brother/sister when they needed help. I believe that we will return to that.

People are smarter than you think when they are forced to make hard decisions. That is a lesson our government needs to learn. The govt is trying to do all our thinking & planning for us. Idiocracy.

P.S. Rolling Eyes, of course you can send it out, no need to ever ask :)

This quote seems perfect for

This quote seems perfect for this thread.

"You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong... You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves." ~Abraham Lincoln~

I would have had more

I would have had more appreciation for the letter if it had actually listed the freedoms supposedly wrested away from us by "the politicians." I haven't lost any of mine, despite the best efforts of the Roberts court to diminish the value of the individual citizen.

Lester - Since you want

Lester - Since you want details in the posts of others, why not show some leadership by giving us a detailed explanation of just how the "Roberts court" has attempted to "diminish the value of the individual citizen." Sure would like to see that... Waiting for your "list".

Freedom to run your business

Freedom to run your business as you see fit without massive regulation (as long as you are doing it legally).

Freedom to choose your own healthcare plan OR to choose not to buy a healthcare plan.

Freedom to fail or succeed with out the government backing you up with unlimited funds.

Freedom of email privacy.

Freedom to not be assassinated by America. Yes, our president now has the power to order your assassination. No trial necessary.

Now these are only the lost freedoms. There are many more atrocities like dismissing voter intimidation cases, use of czars and circumventing the cabinet approval process, using the EPA & other agencies to pass your agenda, again, circumventing the approval of congress, allowing illegal aliens to vote, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

Economic Darwinism will not

Economic Darwinism will not lead to a revolution that will bring socialism. America needs a heavy does of economic and social Darwinism or this country will fail in spectacular fashion. Chillen is spot on in saying that people need to rely on their friends and family for support and not the taxpayer. These tax dodging churches need to support their members and community, as intended, or start paying their fair share of taxes. People need to embrace education and learn something useful. Uneducated people or educated people with no tangible job skills need to understand they aren't qualified for much more than a minimum wage job. Reality is going to become reality again and this goverment creation of social safety net ponzi schemes and interference in natural economic business cycles will have to end.

I would love the see churches

I would love the see churches put more dollars toward helping those in NEED, and maybe less in new construction costs.

Humans ahead of buildings, please!

Yall simply misunderstood

Yall simply misunderstood obama. What he ment by "hope and change" is that if you work, and are not on welfare or unemployment, you will hope you have some change in you pocket....

"Interesting letter, but I

"Interesting letter, but I ask only one question: If there are no jobs and all of you are against "hand-outs" and plan to cease them, where will people get their money from?"

......And I'd ask you, if there are no jobs (and consequently no tax revenue to the treasury) where does the government get the money to provide hand-outs? (Oh, I know, from our grandchildren and their grandchildren.)

..... The number of jobs is always in indirect proportion to the interference of government in the marketplace.

.....Oh yeah, the last revolution that resulted in pure socialism happened in 1917 and lasted only about seventy years. It was a failure and had to be propped up from day one.

.....Economic Darwinism, as you phrase it, is the only thing that does work. However, as with pure democracy, pure economic Darwinism could stand JUST A LITTLE oversight. Not the big brother (Kiss of death) variety we have now though.

I think last night that was what was done. I would have given almost anything to have seen the look on the following faces:
Odumba
Pelosi, (how can you change the look of dementia?)
Hillary
Watching the election results was about as exciting as the super bowl.
