Flighty president should just pay up

  • Follow Letters

Here we go -- President Obama running all over the country, giving speeches as if he is running for office again. He needs to stay in Washington, D.C., where he belongs, looking after our country, but I don't really think he has the capability.

And of course you know he is flying on the big jet that we citizens are all paying for, so he and his wife and family can go on their vacations and to all these other places. I think every time they use the jet to go somewhere that does not concern the United States, money should come out of his salary to help pay for the use of the plane, just like when citizens have to pay to fly somewhere.

We need someone in there who can run our country.

Patricia Jennings

At the end of President Obama

At the end of President Obama term, let's see Ms. Jennings name on the ballot for president. It's so easy to sit back and complain of others without looking at ourselves. John F. Kennedy could not have spoken better words, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." Ms. Jenning is venting, but I know you are aware that it's takes a noble person to sit in this seat, so the challenge is yours.

chasboy, Obama has taken more

chasboy, Obama has taken more vacations and played more golf in his first two years compared to any other presidents first two years in the history of this country. If you were not a silly small minded person you would realize this.

He is. Don't you understand that?

Corgimom, I'm pretty sure he's not running for office for another 2 years. He needs to be doing the job of leading the country.

"He needs to stay in

"He needs to stay in Washington, D.C., where he belongs, looking after our country, but I don't really think he has the capability."

The President has no business staying in Washington DC. America is big and diverse and the rest of the US is not like Washington, DC. The American people have the right to have their President visit their states and be able to see, first hand, what their issues and needs are.

"And of course you know he is flying on the big jet that we citizens are all paying for, so he and his wife and family can go on their vacations and to all these other places."

Were you ok with Bush's trips to Maine and Texas, and Reagan's trips to California, and Nixon's trips to California (the Western White House, no less), Eisenhower's trips to Augusta, etc? Why didn't you complain then?

I guess you think it's better to do it like they did in the 1800's- everyone had to travel to Washington DC to speak to the President. If you didn't have the money, or couldn't make the trip, you were fresh out of luck.

Of course, that denies people their Constitutional rights, but why would a little thing like that matter?

My point exactly corgimom.

My point exactly corgimom. I'm well aware that he has started. He needs to work on his job instead of working on remaining in power. When's he going to close GITMO like he promised. It was supposed to be a year ago.

you mentioned some past presidents traveling around.
at least they stayed in the united states. also didn't go
to new york to see a show or the wives didn't travel
overseas with a whole bunch of friends and family.
marthas vinyard and a bunch of other real expensive
trips. obama brought chicago politics to the white house.
see how many of his people are leaving the w h. they
finally know what a sinking ship is

When you are a traveling

When you are a traveling salesman trying to push a product that nobody wants you have to keep moving on. All the Obama defenders immediately start hollering "Bush did it. All of the other presidents did it." True to some extent but my bet is that Obama has put more wear and tear on AF-1 in 2 years than Bush or any recent president has done in 8 years. Most of it on campaigning business, not on official required government business. And we won't even mention the record number of golf games. Admittedly, all presidents have done these things and it is another one of those self authorized abuses of taxpayer money that we have stood by silently and let slide. But again, Obama has been such a flagrant abuser of taxPAYERS on so many things that we have started to take notice. Nothing racist about it. Just another case of giving some an inch, and the next guy another inch, and eventually one will come along and take a mile. Obama is a mile taker when it comes to abusing the taxPAYER.

The reason the grand wizard

The reason the grand wizard doesn't stay in Washington is because he doesn't have the capacity to make decisions or lead a Nation. It's his way of trying to keep anyone from finding out. It also serves as a distraction from his true agenda of making the United States of America into the United Communist States of America--and he as the First Dictator. Wouldn't be surprised if he demanded we address him as "dear one" and his wife as "beautiful one."

Patricia Jennings you are so

Patricia Jennings you are so right, don't listen to these Kool aid drinking Obama supporters. He has a major problem on his hands, The Country, and he's running around trying to save his flock (what's left of them) at our expense. Just becasue every President has done this don't make it right and right now we need leadership not politics. Besides no one even wants this President along side them, he's like a bad case of Chicken Pox!

That makes two, Ms. Jennings

That makes two, Ms. Jennings and C. James on the presidential ballot, after President Obama term. Let's see if they can run the country. The president does not run the country by himself, that's why there are advisors. The problem is, most have been contaminated by greed---whether they are Republican, Democrat, or Independent. By the way if you think I am an Obama supporter, you might be wrong. I just think whoever runs for the office and win, we should support them, white, black, Hispanic, Mexican, Jew, German, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, or other. When there term is up and you do not like the job they are doing, then you should run if you think you can do better.
