Thomas flap is just liberal claptrap

  • Follow Letters

The controversy surrounding Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as the keynote speaker for the dedication of the Augusta Judicial Center and Judge John H. Ruffin Courthouse is a classic example of liberal, left-wing socialism that permeates our society.

I call it liberal logic. Justice Thomas was born in poverty and worked his way to the very top of his profession. He needed no handouts from government, and because of this, he is a target for every liberal ideologue who claims they and society can't make it without handouts. The motto of these progressives should be "Gimme gimme gimme."

Instead of the suggested speaking substitutes mentioned by Augusta NAACP President Charles Smith (Vice President Joe Biden; Reps. John Conyers and Sheila Jackson Lee; and Sen. Patrick Leahy), may I suggest some more fitting candidates? How about Rep. Maxine Waters? Or Rep. Charlie Rangel, or maybe former Rep. William Jefferson of cold hard cash fame? They are the bright, shining stars of the progressive movement.

I suggest both Mallory Millender and Dr. Smith attend Justice Thomas' address. They, as well as everyone else, could learn a great deal.

Yes, Mr. Taylor, the baseless

Yes, Mr. Taylor, the baseless complaints from the left side of the fence are pretty ugly. Most were made by the enslaved subsidy Dems that feel enslavement is an honor and a right that all black people should claim ... by choice.
They make no sense.

I seem to remember a little

I seem to remember a little claptrap from the right about a sitting President giving a commencement speech at Notre Dame. I'm sure Mr. Taylor supported Notre Dame in it's invitation to the President.

Justice Thomas is not black

Justice Thomas is not black enough for NAACP plus he's a Conservative. Leftist liberals feel threatened by a Conservative message because the truth will be told which liberals have a problem with.

Clearnace Thomas is a classic
Unpublished

Clearnace Thomas is a classic example of why democracy do NOT work in the case for minority rights. His views are completely AGAINST people who look like him, which can be identified as "race hating" however, in this case it's his own race. Of course that makes the closet racists extremely happy because he can be on display as some kinda "example" of how people of color should behave. Thomas' views are sounded rejected by Africa-Americans and his ideology a total failure. He was NOT at the "top of his profession" when given that seat previously held by an intellectual giant. He was an unsophisticated and shallow individual of color that benefited from Affirmative Action Programs (AAP) which got him into that law school. Now, he is AGAINST AAP! Wow! He would still be picking cotton in the field of Georgia, if not for civil rights giants such as Thurgood Marshall and MLK. His appearance is a slap in the face of any self-respecting, intelligent, and fair-minded citizen - Black or white. His record on Civil Rights are atrocious. His written decisions on human rights are poorly expressed and a atrocity. Yep, this guy is bad news for any person of color and having him speak will again demonstrate why the south is again, on the wrong side of history.

Justus summed up the "he's not black enough" attitude. He clearly knows nothing about "Clearnace" Thomas.... Including how to spell his name.

As justus4 implies, it's the right of every black to be enslaved. Do and think as you're told.

It makes no sense.

The radical left hates any black person that doesn't know their place.

Thanks for bringing up
Unpublished

Thanks for bringing up slavery, whether of old or slavery by conning Blacks and poor Whites into accepting the bondage of the Government plantation.
Perhaps Bill Clinton and Obama who quotes him with approval have the right idea – “Slavery should be legal, safe and rare.” Their supporters might say, “If you don’t approve of slavery, don’t own slaves,” or “It’s every person’s right to choose.” Of course, using their logic, one should be able to own a slave if it serves their own perceived needs, wants or convenience.
Oops, I got the quote wrong. They weren't talking about forced labor and degradation. They were merely supporting the right of one person to kill another for their own personal convenience. According to their logic, a human being is fair game for slaughter based on such factors as age, size, location or degree of disability. How can anyone calling himself a Christian vote for politicians who are pro-abortion?
