Democrats have left a 'sorry legacy'

  • Follow Letters

For more than 50 years, I have watched the Democratic Party's descent into Marxism in their search for the utopian society. Over the years, those Democrats who were moderate to conservative have been forced from that party. Many who left became Republicans. Those remaining are hard-left radicals.

Democrats are contentious, arrogant, untrustworthy and deceitful, but in their minds they are the ruling class -- elitists who are above the law or public opinion. They have no inhibitions about making laws contrary to the wishes of the people, while ridiculing and dismissing those same people as ignorant if they object.

They exhibit no qualms nor offer any excuses for their amoral support for the murder of countless unborn souls as a matter of convenience, nor for their glorification of homosexuality. They are obstinate in their belief that, no matter the issue, they have superior knowledge and are always right. They will not debate or reason with their opponents, but instead resort to the politics of personal destruction. When given power, they use it in a dictatorial manner, intending to manipulate and regulate an otherwise free people.

The history of that party is rife with anti-Americanism; constitutional disregard; anti-Christianity; pro-slavery; involvement with and support of the Ku Klux Klan; opposition to civil rights; authoring Jim Crow laws; intimidation; and even murder. Yet, our black population, once their chosen victims, are now solidly aligned with their former tormentors.

Some will say Democrats have changed, but their rent-a-mob tactics and use of union thugs to intimidate and even physically attack their opponents belies that. It is instead more reminiscent of the Nazi Brownshirts.

All this and more is the sorry legacy of the Democrats -- not compassion and caring as they would have us believe. If you didn't already know, you do now.

Robert Smock

I was trying to find where he is not telling the truth but couldn't find any. Just the fact that they are pro-death is enough to cause no one to trust them. Celebrating sin instead of hating it means you can't tell right from wrong and even a child can tell that. Why would a good person align themselves with a group with these core values. Sure there are evil republicans but no one, including the party, says it is a good thing. One of the signs of end times is when people call good evil and evil good. When we support the ones blessing others we share in the blessing; when we support those cursing others we share that also. I really don't understand how a Christian can stay in a party or vote for a party with those values.

"but instead resort to the

"but instead resort to the politics of personal destruction"

Richard Nixon and his enemies list notwithstanding.

Both parties are filled with rotten, corrupt, amoral people that the average American can't and won't identify with.

It is dangerous to think that only Democrats have abortions and only Democrats support gay rights- and it was that reasoning that got the Republican candidates walloped in the previous election.

The left wing and the right wing are die-hards who will never change their minds. They cancel each other out. It's the moderates that decide elections today- and they have a way of not identifying or labeling themselves as a member of either party, and a way of being unpredictable. They don't choose their candidates on the basis of abortion or homosexuality- now that's a concept that Republicans don't understand- and until the Republican party lets go of that focus, they are going to have difficulties.

Hope Robert Smock and others in both parties can grasp that. Otherwise this Congressional mess will just continue.

I agree with Mr. Smock. He

I agree with Mr. Smock. He did not expound on the "Pro-slavery" part. I believe the liberal party has made many people their slaves by promising they will give them all kinds of free-bees at the expense of the tax payer if they will vote for the liberal. Then they hold them hostage by saying "if you don't keep voting me into power, you will lose the free-bees".

Walter Williams has a column

Walter Williams has a column out that says it much better than I can.
I am so tired of people being used so that politicians can retain their "POWER". They like all the bowing and scraping from the public and they don't care who they demean to keep their lifestyle.
No matter which party the 'entitlement group' votes for, I just want both parties to be upfront with the voters about what is happening.
Read Walter Williams.

Much of this letter I agree

Much of this letter I agree with. However the paragraph on the Civil Rights is probably a bit one sided. Having said that, I do wonder why the AA community has not demanded more for their support. Their plight, as it were, has not gotten much better after all these yrs supporting the Dems.

Abortion......it's decided.

Abortion......it's decided. It's law. Racism, same thing. The issues to be decided in the next two elections are Income Redistribution, Socialism, and Deficit Reduction. If you conservatives don't quit arguing about extraneous stuff that is already law and start concentrating on the fundemental principles by which this government takes your money and spends it then you are going to have more immediate and pressing issues to worry about.....like feeding your family. Concentrate people. It's Taxpayers vs. Socialist Redistributors. It's Obamacare and huge insurance premiums to subsidize a lot of people who made a decision to not buy health insurance. It's the federal government spending your tax dollars to subsidize unions. Concentrate people!!! The issues in this election are not abortion. This election is about Socialism.

Sorry, but there is no

Sorry, but there is no democrat party anymore. They have turned into the socialist party and the radicals who support it seem content and almost proud of the hideous label.

Here is a chilling quote from a U.S. socialist party member (who would now be called a Democrat) in the 1920's. Proof that they've been at this for quite some time.

"The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under
the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist
program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without
knowing how it happened."

Well guess what folks, we've arrived at the threshold of socialism. Though the democrat party and the progressive republican's, they've stuck it to us. And the scary thing is, 20-30% of the U.S. public embraces it. Of course with 1 in 6 Americans on welfare, you can expect those kinds of numbers.

Keep this in mind.

"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money" ~Margaret Thatcher~

"Keep taxing us, socializing us and redistributing our wealth and we'll vote you out of office or leave the country and take our wealth with us" ~Chillen~

slavery was always an issue to the slave and abortion is always an issue for the unborn. If you are willing to kill the unborn you are probably willing to destroy the other freedoms in this country.

Glenn Beck has been fostering

Glenn Beck has been fostering this basic inaccuracy. Yes, the Democrats were once opposed to Civil Rights. However, in 1948 Truman desegregated the military, and in 1964 LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act. With those momentous decisions, Southern racists left the Dems en masse and became Republicans. Its the same evil people, but they have switched their allegiance to the Republicans. This, unfortunately, been enough to delude a few uninformed people into thinking that Republicans in the South now support justice and freedom, which is patently absurd.

Carcraft: racists who changed parties during the Civil Rights era: almost all of them. Nixon's 1968 Southern Strategy openly solicited racist votes. The Republicans have been living in sin ever since.
