Writer is confused on divisiveness

  • Follow Letters

I always relish reading the letters written by Lowell or Gloria Greenbaum for their entertainment value and I'm rarely disappointed. Mrs. Greenbaum, in her Sept. 1 letter ("Murdoch's minions preach divisiveness"), calls to task Rupert Murdoch for his ownership of the "evil" Fox News and its staff of reporters, primarily Glenn Beck, whom she labels as spewing "hatred, bigotry and divisiveness."

If you've ever watched the Glenn Beck time slot on Fox News, you have seen that what he has to "spew" is a far cry from hatred, bigotry and divisiveness -- unless divisiveness is defined as any position opposed to that of the current Democratic Party in power.

Mrs. Greenbaum would do well to be less disingenuous and more specific in her accusations.

I'm confused on what exactly

I'm confused on what exactly is the point of this letter. It seems to be nothing more than a "nuh-uhh!" response.

Also, GAterp, does your owner know you're on the computer? Puppies should be supervised on the Internet at all times.

Funny, the liberals own both
Unpublished

Funny, the liberals own both houses of congress AND the White House, yet the country's economy is in the pooper. I thought Obama was going to save us from all the boogey men in the banking industry and Wall Street by "redistributing the wealth." And with all this, all the liberals can do is whine and moan about Glenn Beck, Rush, Sarah Palin, and Fox News. As for hate being spewed, have you ever listened to Fat Al Sharpton's radio show on the internet? Talk about venom, and guess who its always aimed at.

The difference, Southernguy,

The difference, Southernguy, is that hardly anybody takes Al Sharpton seriously, while a great many Americans mistakenly think that Fox and Glenn Beck and their ilk are informative.

Just about every week, Glenn

Just about every week, Glenn Beck tells people that he is not an expert on anything and that he is just an entertainer. Quite honest of him, actually. Sadly, his listeners don't believe him.

When a handful of Republicans

When a handful of Republicans become a fist they can stop almost anything. They assure their constituents that government doesn't work, then ask to be re-elected so they can continue to prove it. More Republicans could do more? More what? Most of us already have plenty of nothing. If your net worth is below $5 million and you continue to vote Republican, you could be suffering from stage 4 optirectumitis.

For those of you who believe
Unpublished

For those of you who believe the economy is something that gets fixed overnight are disillusioned. It takes MANY YEARS to turn things around. As for Beck- I believe he can be put into the same boat as "The Great Divider"- I won't mention the person's name who leads that group- don't want the people in Crawford, TX to revolt.

Truckin....in order to fix the economy, you have to do things that make it better. What has this admin done that has made ANYTHING better? It's not even doing what they said it will do, so they clearly don't know what they are doing. Remember "the stimulus will keep unemployment <8%?" Sound familiar?

All I see on the Fox version

All I see on the Fox version of the Glenn Beck show is a man living with poorly treated bipolar condition. It's like Prince: under Warner Brothers rigid hand he created some of the best pop in the '80's. Liberated from his contract and freed to do whatever he wanted, his music just went to suckville. Same with Glenn Beck. On CNN, he made some valid points and left the viewer some room to think. Let loose on FOX we see what he really thinks, and that stuff is just nutty theater.

Mr Bedell, your letter is

Mr Bedell, your letter is true, of course, but it has obviously given all the left wing fringe here another opportunity to start beating the dead horse again, and I am getting pretty tired of the stench.

Rush...blah..evil..yadda..Beck..blah,,haters..Fox...nutjobs...blah..yadda yadda..ad nauseam. Just like a tired old comedian, the liberal whiners need to get some new material. Wait....just several weeks now until November! OMG!

Oh...sweet November! It will be with delicious anticipation that I will await that fateful day for the liberal mafia, and watch in glee, as many are rewarded for their liberal lunacy, and are hoisted, kicking and screaming, on their own petards! Hit the door loosers! Do not pass the buck! Do not forget your belongings!

Please, someone pass the popcorn! Down in front!

So crates, if you think the Glenn Beck show is, "stuff is just nutty theater", then I think you need a refresher course in just that subject. Therefore, I direct you to the following shows on MSNBC. Keith Olberman, Ed Shultz, Chris Matthews, and Racheal Maddow.

These folks make Glenn Beck look like a timid Sunday school teacher, by comparison. OMG. Please....try an analogy that at least has some point in fact. These people are worse than Glenn ever was on his worst day!
Some of the words used daily by these folks. Nutjobs, Wackos, Right Wing Loons, Tan Man, etc. These are heard daily.

Both Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann are well known for their on air antics, especially when it comes to expressing disdain for conservatives and conservative ideas. At one point, during the 2008 campaign, both Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann were removed by MSNBC as on air anchors for political events, their antics and on air bickering had gotten so bad.

I'll see your Glenn Beck, and raise you a Chris, Rachael, Ed, and Keith!

"Fed, I don't deny your point, but who talks about these people? They aren't as far out there."
========================================
That, sir, is the entire point. The only reason we hear so much about Fox, Rush, Beck and Palin, is that they are the only things on the mind of the liberal press, and their favorite persons to demonize. Oh, but they do an excellent job! It all has to do with the liberal bias in the press, that we continually talk about them, and the complicit press obsessivley dotes on every word they utter, and trash them unmercilessly, day in and day out.

If it were not so, then we would indeed be talking about the hateful words and liberal hate speak hurled at the right daily by MSNBC, and others.

Someday, maybe the lamestream media will regain some of the impartiality that they once possessed. Until then, they are morally bankrupt, totally in lock step with the POTUS and his cronies, and will continue to "wag the dog", trashing the right, as that is their mission, and the only reason for their existance at the moment.

You hear so much about FOX

You hear so much about FOX because they make it so moronically obvious that they are biased. You hear so much about Rush because he yells and sounds mean whenever he says things. You hear so much about Palin because she opens her mouth and the comedians just start writing, verbatim, whatever comes out (due to the fact that its just so dumb, its hilarious). Glenn Beck, seeing no other avenue, has either taken the performance to an entirely new level of absurd or he truly is mentally ill. In a saturated media, you have to do something to stand out and profit. Exploiting the crudest in humanity, however, is reprehensible.

Great point, wheras we KNOW

Great point, wheras we KNOW ABC,CBS,NBC,MSNBC,CNN,NPR, aren't biased, right?Neither are John Stewart, David Letterman, Arianna Huffington, etc? Come on. There's enough bias to go around. It's called
free-speech. It's only when the Dems start to lose the battle of speech do they bark about bias. Their problem is the country is turning right in a repudiation of current leftist policies and it's driving the left bonkers.

If you have really watched

If you have really watched Glenn Beck, you would find that he is providing information that is sorely needed: ACCURATE HISTORY of this Nation. At least he IS honest in what he says; if you don't like the man, turn the channel---at least you can tune into that idiotic, foaming at the mouth Chris Matthews and get a thrill up your leg (and just how far that thrill goes is strictly up to you!).
