Partisan hate should stop on all sides

  • Follow Letters

In her letter Sept. 1 ("Murdoch's minions preach divisiveness"), Gloria Greenbaum did a masterful job of spewing her own form of bile and bigotry at Rupert Murdoch, Glenn Beck, Fox News and the Republican Party in general, especially in her final shot: "These voices of darkness do not deserve to be called Americans."

It's odd that she finds it acceptable to use the same tactics that she apparently abhors in others. If she expects calm rhetoric, it would seem wise to set the tone of any discussion or opinion by setting an example.

Rational thought is sadly missing at this point of turmoil in America and the world, and hate-filled accusations from all sides just fuel the fires, keeping us from solving problems. When will it stop?

How can the American people possibly make decisions in this atmosphere of depression, anger and back-biting?

Sadly enough, Mark Twain's words come to mind: "The political and commercial morals of the United States are not merely food for laughter, they are an entire banquet."

Hey Molly, you're absolutely correct. When liberals argue their perspective, they say they are being "progressive," but they accuse conservatives who argue their perspective of being, "divisive." Liberals are quite adept at using double standards.

The art of politics begins

The art of politics begins with how many people you can exert influence over. With the "dumbing down of America" program and all of the federally supported "responsibility-free" programs in existence today, the best way to influence a group is with radical dialogue (See the choreographed "news" media). When this method of influence is exerted, "hate speech" and other like-terms come into everyday language use.
Until the government education system readopts the mission of increasing the viable knowledge of the general public, the current level of conversation is unlikely to improve.

President Obama has

President Obama has repeatedly tried to engage in bipartisanship, only to be rebuffed at every turn. The conservatives have engaged in personal attacks and falsehood as their main way of doing business. It isn't just the hotheads like Rush Limbaugh, either. The #2 Republican, Sarah Palin, falsely accused the Dems of setting up "death panels." John Boehner, the #1 Republican in Congress, falsely accused the Dems of "pulling the plug on grandma." No lib has accused Sarah Palin of faking her birth certificate or of being a secret Muslim, and there is no more reason to accuse her of these things than to accuse Obama. I agree that calmer heads should prevail, but it is appalling that the conservatives will not take responsibility for their own totally irrational behavior. Conservatives must begin by condemning the outspoken racism, hate, and falsehood of their own extreme fringe. Nothing else will stop the madness.

Rush Limbaugh falsely

Rush Limbaugh falsely questioned Obama's birth certificate, thus firmly establishing his credentials as something other than reasonable. Glenn Beck rewrites history to suit himself. Fox News systematically reports only one side of the story, and not very accurately at that. Conservatives falsely call Obama a Muslim and a socialist. Take responsibility for yourselves, first and foremost.

Rhetor- Why are all of Obama's records sealed? What is the poem POPS about? Why did Obama make up all the sotries about the Kennedy Airlift, the march on Selma etc? Why are even Generals now questioning Obama's birth certificate issue? (Lt. General McInernery: A Determination On Obama's Birth Certificate Is Absolutely Essential For Determining AWOL Army Doc's Guilt) Obama sat for twenty years in Rev Wright's Church and listened to Black Liberation theology a form of Marxism. Obama's mentor Davis was a communist, Obama said in his book he liked communist..gee where did the idea he is a Marxist come from..Why hasn't the press dispelled an of this? Oh never mind it is easier calling names than answering questions..

What papers did Obama write? Don't know..well neither does the press and they don't give a hoot....so you get to deal with all the innuendo..fair or not..Tell Obama to release all his records and it will end..perhaps..

Carcraft, if anybody is still

Carcraft, if anybody is still questioning Obama's birth certificate, it is due to complete insanity and ignorance. Proof of his birth in Hawaii is unassailable. The fact that so many conservatives still hold to the birther absurdity is complete proof of my points. If you still have questions about his birth certificate, it is because you have been totally misinformed and are paying no attention at all. If a general questions his birth certificate, this proves that he never have had enough brains to have been promoted past buck private. The republican governor of Hawaii has reviewed Obama's birth records and testified that they are authentic. That's all that can be done, since Hawaii sealed ALL original birth records years ago, not just Obama's. The president was admitted to Harvard Law School which, even with Affirmative Action, proves that he had good grades, and he graduated from Harvard Law School with honors--a matter of public record under FERPA--which should be enough to satisfy the world's gossipy gossips. Enough is enough. Grow up.

Nobody accuses Palin of being

Nobody accuses Palin of being a foreigner or a Muslim because her critics are not a bunch of fools. The fact that conservatives need to invent so many baldfaced lies about Obama is in itself good evidence that he must be doing a fine job. If they could attack him truthfully, they would do so.

Disagreement should not lead

Disagreement should not lead to "hate". Debate is good. Take it for what it is.

Laura Ingraham was g-r-e-a-t this morning on Imus, she was on top of her game. Her description of the recently redecorated Oval Office was original and hilarious. Also, her take on the 50 billion dollars job bill Obama is promoting.

genius detective Rhetor, have you noticed that no one has accused Palin of being black? or being a Marxist? or being anti-capitalism? or being anti-individualist? or being anti-American on most issues?

Of course, Palin hasn't made these issues part of a never ending campaign like the person you can find no fault with.

Now, back to the subject of this LTE.

And please don't tell me the COLB that is out of numerical sequance is a birth certificate..I have posted the law from Hawaii concerning COLB at least twice..Obama's 1/2 sister born in Indonesia has a COLB! Why won't Obama do it? We will never know because the press won't ask. Meanwhile we have military court proceedings against an Officer because he doubts Obama's legimacy and a 3 star General supporting his right to ask..

Conservatives have been quiet

Conservatives have been quiet too long. We sat back and allowed the party to be devastated by progressives who wanted to "reach across the aisle" or "pander to the left's wacky causes & wishes". There are still plenty of those in office who need to go this November and November 2012.

Now we have an administration in place who seems intent on destroying our economy and destroying the desire to become sucessful in this great nation. This group in charge has made it crystal clear that they want to radically transform America. As a result, conservatives have finally woken up and are getting more involved in politics, rally's, chat boards, etc.

This is where the problem comes in. The liberals are used to being the only ones who rally and buck the system. Now they are stunned. Shell shocked. How dare the conservatives speak out against pelosi or obama?!?! So, they fight back with vigor. Name calling, accusing folks of racism, accusing them of hating the poor or being selfish with their OWN money. Conservatives are concerned for their children and grand-children's futures and they are mocked for their concern. Tea party supporters were branded with a name so vile and riduculous that even porn stars blush at the mention of it.

They are attempting to silence those intent on saving this nation from economic doom. I say, they will fail. Starting with the results this November.

Obama has been about as

Obama has been about as bipartisan as Hugo Chavez. All the Republicans heard was "we won" followed by "open wide, here comes Obamacare and Porkulus I". We all know that Obamacare turned out to do the exact opposite of what Obama and the Democrats told us it would do. Porkulus I was for "shovel ready infrastructure projects" but turned into a Democrat slush fund for payoffs to the unions and other liberal pet projects. Now Obama wants Porkulus II, or is this III, for the "infrastructure projects" that were supposed to be funded by Porkulus I, which means the UNIONS need MORE MONEY. Meanwhile Obama goes on vacation every week and then gets on TV on Monday morning and sarcastically attacks Republicans for resisting his absolutely crazy spending and socialist programs. Yeh, he is bipartisan alright......well he's more like bipolar if you compare his promises to what actually happens. Molly, I have not had one bit of problem making my decision about how I have voting this November and in 2012. It's not a bit confusing to me and I don't think it's confusing to as many as you think. Obama is a redistributing Communist who hates anyone who succeeds without government subsidy because it demonstrates that everything he believes is wrong and that his core constituency are failures. The unions, the entitlement crowd, those are his constituents and they cannot stand without government subsidies......or more specifically, subsidy from middle class WORKING TAXPAYERS and he MUST CONTINUE TO BUY THEIR VOTES with MY money, YOUR money, OUR money. And what do the unions do with that money? They give it back to Obama and other Democrats as campaign donations and PACs to get more Democrats elected to give them MORE of our money. Nope Molly, not confusing to me at all.

Well Molly maybe you meant

Well Molly maybe you meant well but your shot was not well aimed. Perhaps you haven't noticed the Augusta Chronicle's Editorial Staff and the posters here are overwhelming Republican conservatives. And you Molly , dear, pleaded for civility by criticizing a Democratic article.

Democratic articles are a rare breath of fresh air in the Chronicle's usual diet of conservative press, cartoons, and wing-nut comments. Instead of civility, Obama and the Democrats have been too tepid with the Repubs and we need Al Sharpton and Rev. Wright to hit the campaign trail. Maybe they can rent John McCain's old bus, the Straight Talk Express, get it deodorized of course, hit the road, and stage demagogue spectaculars like Beck and Palin. Rabble rousing works for them and the Democrats should give it a try too.
